My latte was a solid four star with a lil froth on top.
Velvety and smooth... Oh wait, that was just my reflection in the mirror.
Ohhhhhhhhhh zing!
Their face sized cookies are a steal at $1.79.

* Toto, we ain't in NY anymore! *
I stopped in to try out the NY Cheesecake. I miss NY Cheesecake from my childhood and figured I would give it a shot.
The cheesecake itself was ok, but not as dense as I remember from my childhood. It also didn't have the distinctive sour cream taste I expected. I'm not really sure why they call it a NY Cheesecake. It was ok, but nothing that special.
The graham cracker crust had also gotten a bit too soggy (as if the entire cheesecake had been frozen and then thawed). It was plated with chocolate sauce and caramel sauce. Both sauces had a very commercial artificial taste. There were also two puffs of whipped cream which was way too airy for my taste.
Service was overly confused as well. They created a mistaken plate for the woman that ordered before me (don't know what led to that), and that seemed to screw up their whole system. So they never plated my cheesecake until I finally asked what happened to it after seeing the people that ordered after me get theirs.
Combine the "meh" dessert, the "meh" service, and the high price of $6.29 for a small slice of cheesecake, and it gives a grand total of 2 stars and a NY salute!
Their cheesecakes were pretty delicious, especially since they make everything in house. I was especially impressed that they puree their own mangoes for the mango cheesecake and don't used canned indian mango pulp as a lot of places do.
I wasn't super impressed that their crust was soggy.
The ambience of the place inside is really nice. And you can't even tell there is a ton of construction going on outside unless you look. But yeah, outside is a mess. Can't wait till Canada Line construction is complete.
Cheesecakes are for yes. That's why when I heard Trees' specialty was their many varieties of cheesecakes, I just couldn't say no. I met up with friends here for...well, I would say coffee, but we were just here for the cheesecake, to be honest.
The decor is too cute, with branches hanging above coffee drinkers' heads, and although it was busy we were able to snag a table. I got a cup of hot chocolate, which was so filled to the brim with cocoa-y goodness I had to be careful not to spill it everywhere. As for the cheesecake? Mmmm. I like strawberry, and rhubarb, and cheesecake--and this didn't disappoint in the slightest.
The construction on Granville is kind of a pain, but I was able to find it well enough. Just ignore the gigantic earth-mover backing up right outside the window and experience the yum.
Many travellers work at this cafe, from Australia, Germany, Mexico, and leave before too long, usually. It's family-run and they have catering services for lunches, usually with their sandwhiches and coffees.
The cheesecakes are all beautiful, but eat slowly... your slice will disappear fast! A slice is 6$, a whole cake 70$. My favourite is chocolate or raspberry. I personally hate the sandwhiches! They have big paninis here, but I just can't stand them, too much dryish bread. As a side note I've hated every panini I've ever had with a most furious passion (i.e. Brioche) Don't let the train construction push you away!
I was there with dessert meetup group. We ordered all lattes and cheesecakes (we had coupons for free lattes). It was just delicious. Latte so tasty and foamy, cheesecake so tender and exquisite :) I liked the place as well. I returned there several times, always was satisfied....
It was my favorite coffee until I tried Caffe Vergnano.
Vergnano is now my number one, and Trees Organic number two.
Trees Organic Coffee, as its name suggests, serves some mean organic fair trade roasts, but the cheesecake clearly steals the show here! This cafe whips up one of the best cheesecakes in town. As I like my cheesecake rich and heavy, I was surprisingly delighted by its flavour and texture despite it not being NY cheesecake-ish for my liking, It was velvety and creamy, mousse-y cheesy goodness. Their version of the blueberry was plain blissful, with generous amount of fresh blueberries bursting in every bite. The cheesecake had a great balance of flavour with a teasing hint of lemon tartness. It was a delight to the tastebuds. The banana white chocolate offered plentiful pieces of banana in white chocolate cheesecake, which was not sugary sweet but still equally decadent, graham crust was nutty, moist and buttery. The main draw for me is in their effort of folding in the ingredient varieties with the cheesecake mixture, unlike other cheesecake shops which only offer different toppings using the same cheesecake base.
Overall atmosphere drops a star here. I'm pleasantly surprised people still swarm to the cafe despite the Canada Line construction. The mini patio is now non-existent, and the interior offers a sorry view and endless noise from the construction. I ended up bringing home the cakes instead. The dessert display could also use some work in my opinion. I went by word of mouth, but the display wasn't as tempting and inviting enough for me to try it if I happened to just be walking by. Nonetheless, still a must try.
Uh-may-zing times two!
UMZ #1: Their potato soup must have a package of rendered bacon fat in it because it is can't-be-vegetarian-anymore good. Served with a couple slices of multigrain bread and a nice slab of butter, it warms me up on a rainy afternoon.
UMZ #2: Turkey and brie enclosed in a nut and berry baguette!?! Why didn't mommy make me cool sandwiches like this for lunch instead of fried rice - hrmph X-|

I've only been here in the morning- so I haven't had the cheesecake. But that's all I ever hear about. People seem to love it.
What I can say is that the cafe mocha is good. The espresso blends well with the chocolate to give a rich, but not stomach-ache inducing, sweetness.
The staff here is extremely friendly and seem to enjoy working together. They carry on conversations (extending past the weather) with customers, while keeping the drinks coming and line moving. I appreciate that.
There's not a ton of seating here- maybe 5 small tables, and a little bar in the window (questionably small stools). Not many plugs, for those who like to campout on the ibook.
I'm waiting for the perfect afternoon, where I can sample one of the famous cheesecake flavors!
Trees Organic Coffee has been a family run staple on downtown Vancouver's Granville Street for over a decade. Reportedly, it was a pioneer in serving fair-trade and organic coffees in the city. These days, the café also offers shade-grown, hand-picked, and bird-friendly coffee, all freshly roasted on site in small batches to ensure a fresh, high-quality product.
Besides the great java, Trees is notorious for its chock-full-of-yummy cheesecake. Over the years, I've tried my fair share of flavours -- including classic New York (my personal fave) and "The Sin" (a devilish mix of cherry and chocolate) -- and can say with complete confidence it may just be the best cheesecake I've tasted in the city -- creamy and velvety, with tons of flavour and (depending on the type you choose) big bursts of fruit buried inside every bite.
Breakfast items are also offered at Trees. But I'd order that cheesecake any old time of the day!
Trees Organic Coffee is amazing. Everything just seems so fresh and good for you. Sure, right now there is some crazy construction going on for the sky train, so Trees is a little bit less visible, and blocked off from the other side of the street - but honestly, it's still as busy as ever.
The blueberry cheesecake is to die for. And they have the hugest selections of tea. You can't just go in and say that you want green tea, because they have so many different kinds of green tea. And of course, the organic coffee is simply delectable!
We walked in and a plate of cheesecake samples was before us. I tried to pretend it wasn't and order a machiatto and walk out. I failed. Granted, I was mildly intoxicated, but it felt like the deliciousness of the cheesecake began at my feet and then travelled up to the top of my head and back down again towards my mouth and stomach. I had to force myself to go outside because if I'd stayed, I would've surely bought a slice of cheesecake.
The coffee was good too ;)
Go for the coffee, stay for the cheesecake! Nice little place, I know it gets busy there but you can catch it at quiet times as well. I recommend the americano there - and any of the great selections of cheesecake. They also have sandwiches and things.
Trees is a great little coffee shop and I hope all the Canada Line construction mess hasn't impacted them too negatively. They have good coffee--not quite as good as Cafe Artigiano, but not as expensive either. The desserts and cheesecakes are quite good--but I'd also have to recommend this place for the "beefcake". Let's just say that the decor isn't the only thing about this place that's attractive ;)
