Review from Teena D.
I had supper tonight here. The concierge at my hotel recommended it.
I'd read that it was small place and that I probably needed a reservation so I called this afternoon. There were no tables available but I was told they would save me a spot at the bar. Yay! I got there a half hour later than I'd said I'd be there. Eeek! When I walked in, one of the servers, Toni, asked me if I was "Teena". Instead of sitting me at the bar, she found a table for me instead.
I'd done three enrolment seminars today ... the first one was at 9am and the last one was over about 8pm. It was a long day. The cab/merlot sure did taste good!
I ordered Pollo Parmigiana (chicken breast breaded and baked with tomato sauce and mozzarella) with Fettucini Alfredo. It was delicious! The breading was very light and the chicken (a real breast, not yucky processed chicken) was really good. The pasta was yummy!
Toni took excellent care of me ... friendly and attentive.
I would go back to this restaurant again the next time I'm in Winnipeg. -

All right that's a horrible way to review an Italian restaurant however it was the first thing I thought of when entering Tre Visi. A very small & narrow restaurant with only a few tables, we had made lunch reservations that day before on the recommendation of our manager. The food was simple Italian fare; excellent and delicious. The service was attentive and quick. The decor was exactly what you would imagine high end Italian to be. Well worth the visit and I will definitely return my next time in Winnipeg. -
Review from Vernon A.
Smallish place in a row of restaurants and taverns. Right around the corner are shops and galleries so it can make for nice evening of wandering around plus dinner (this ain't New York, so context folks, context). We had an excellent server- she was attentive and professional. Nice menu. Delicious panzanella bread salad. We all ate paste and enjoyed. Reasonable wine list. This isn't high end. This is very nice, competent, tasty, well-prepared food in a comfortable and pleasant place with excellent service. Our party of four kept happy.

I guess between my two reviews, it's a 3.5 out of 5. I struggle with the rating because this is a great Italian bistro. Their food is great and continues to be great so my adjustment goes to their service. I don't like attitude or snobbery when I am dining out. To me, service plays a huge role in a dining experience, cause otherwise, I'd do take out. But there's a reason why we dine out - to enjoy the ambiance, the service, and of course the food. Well, upon my most recent visit, one of the servers there was a little standoffish, not overtly rude but he had an air of "I am better than this." Anyhow, he was effective enough through the evening, and as we enjoyed our delicious appetizers and entrees, we had ordered a second basket of the complimentary bread. And the server brought over the bread promptly. Well, when the bill arrives, there's a charge for the bread - the second basket. It was like $2.50 or something like that. To me, it's fair when restaurants charge for extra things but for goodness sakes tell people. So when we inquire why there was a charge, the server said that there's an additional charge for the second basket in a slightly condescending tone. So when I suggested politely that it should be mentioned to the diners as a courtesy, the server then says "well, our regulars know that." Hmmm...interesting because I know he's one of the newer servers so he's suggesting I am not a "regular"...that's okay, I'm not offended. LOL. What I am annoyed with is how his rationale works - even a regular can dine there a million times and still not know about this charge. I've dined there many times and hadn't ordered a second basket of bread until this recent visit, so how would I know about a charge if I am never told?
At the end of the day, it's not the extra charge...I eat out a lot so I obviously don't mind spending on food. What really bothers me is how the server tried to spin the situation around to make it seem like it was our fault for not knowing about the extra charge. And we had to listen to his snobby tone towards us too! It's unfortunate that bad service like that can ruin such a great meal!
I will go back because I enjoy the food there and hope that that was a one off situation. Hopefully we can get another server instead!1 Previous Review: Show all »
