This has to be worse than the TL in Red Deer. WOW! Worn out? I'll say! 70s/80s feel throughout, and while I wouldnt call the place a dump, the only thing stopping it being a dump is that its clean.
The staff are nice enough, but the funny thing about TLs is that most of them seem to be this way. Overpriced, with outdated decor etc. The internet was slowish on my visit for business, forget about P2P downloads, they block that.
Beware of the room you get! With TLs, some are bigger or nicer than others. The Medicine hat location, if you are unlucky, you will get an inside facing room that looks INTO the pool. Which genius thought of that odd design feature? So if youre idea of fun is hearing kids screaming and splashing around for hours, then great!
Open the curtains, and if you are in the room I was in, you get the unexpected opportunity to exhange mouthed 'good mornings' etc with bathees from the jacuzzi right under my window. Awkward.
Hotel could do with installing privacy mirror film so at least people cant see inside your room.
Also beware partyers, and noisy people walking in at 1am talking loudly isnt what you expect of a hotel charging triple digit prices. Travelodge really should knock this place down, and build it again, without the pool.
On balance, the hotel appears clean, the rooms appear clean, and the decor and fittings although, ahem, 'well loved' are in reasonable order, but...just not at what they are charging.
Try The Days Inn instead.
