I'll second that. I stay here from time to time when a short stay is required near the airport. It's a sleepy little town so if you're looking for nightlife keep moving. But if you want a nice dinner, a glass of wine or a good coffee, fresh baking and a relaxing walk along the tremendous waterfront, this is the spot for you.
I'd say it caters to seniors, not just due to the lack of nightlife but also from a simple gander at the passing crowd. Lot of white hair moseying on by... This is not a slight. I'm not by any means a senior and I really like this town.
During the summer months it gets busier with the Sidney market on Thursday nights. The entire main street shuts down. Well worth a visit for local crafts, produce, snacks and some funky cuisine (I ate African last I was there). -

Gotta be a fan of the town where I grew up. Well, I don't have to be but I am. This is a nice little town where the ferries roll in north of Victoria. Every time I go back it hasn't changed too much - still fairly small, and fairly quiet with not too many chain stores and the like. It has grown a lot, but it still has its character.

Country-style outdoor market Thursday night! Got some local organic produce; fudge for my friends; and an enjoyable feed at Fish on Fifth.
