Review from Charlotte W.
North York, ON
This hotel is centrally located (Yonge and Bloor) and it's a hotel I always miss. It is nothing ostentatious, nothing that says look at me, but I decided to check this hotel out due to a Yoga event I had to attend nearby. Right next to Bloor subway station, that was already a YES in my books.
Check In.
The lobby is quite small...nothing grand. I really liked that someone came out to open the door for me as I wasn't expecting that (this hotel is the one where they have the revolving doors and the regular doors...but it tells you to use the revolving doors...) Great start. It wasn't too busy and I got a trainee who was very pleasant. She asked if I had a Marriott card and I said no. She gave a blurb and I was afraid the sign up process would take forever...fill in this card, fill in that card etc...However, I was pleasantly surprised that sign up took less than 1 minute and I now have a Marriott card.
Room Number 211.
When I reserved online, I had requested a high floor. Obviously, that didn't go well and I ended up on the second floor. But, I was far away from the elevators (which means relatively no noise), but my room was next to the Ice and Drinks Dispenser machine (noise). Since this was for a night, no biggy.
The room was great! Spacious with a chair and a comfy reclining-type of chair. Big bed, nice flat screen tv, and a nice-sized bathroom. No amenities here as in slippers and robe, but I didn't require that. Clean and no mildew smell. I even had a view of some garden area. I am loving this hotel already!
The bathroom carried great products from Bath and Body Works, specifically the Orange Ginger line which I absolutely LOVE! The smell is refreshing and spicy. I was hoping to snag a few unused samples back home, but I used up everything! Hairdryer is a standalone.
By the way, for those who fall in love with Marriott furniture and products, you can actually buy everything from the pillow cases, lamps, chairs, to the bed online at http://www.shopMarriot....
Noise Level.
When I woke up, I could hear some bottles being dispensed, but in the grand scheme of things, not a big deal. Other than that, no noise could be heard.
Parking.
There is Valet parking for $35 I believe per night, however, my bf who had driven decided to self park for a relatively cheaper rate. He even told me that the Hotel uses the same parking compound so why not do it yourself!
Conclusion.
This is a great hotel at an unbeatable location for a great price. My basic room (King Bed) rate for Friday, February 17th, 2012 ran at $169 (including taxes, fees, and a movie at $11.99). Rooms are clean, spacious, and modern. If you are looking for a quick stay, or a business hotel, this Marriott definitely delivers. And can I just say the location is absolutely great?!?!? Right by the subway, shopping, and everything that is Yorkville.
Hotel Rewards Program.
In my mind, Marriott is one of those hotel brands that doesn't necessarily come first to mind, but in reality, the portfolios of hotel names under the Marriott chain is impressive, including Ritz Carlton, JW Marriott, and Bulgari Hotels. Aside from all the Marriott divisions (Courtyard, Residence, etc...) I hope to be staying at more Marriott branded hotels. I absolutely love the Ritz and have stayed in the Bulgari Milan Hotel which was great so I am happy that I now have the membership card to collect points and become a true devoted fan
No cost to sign up for the card, so might as well. For more information, visit http://www.marriott.co... -

Fire Alarms twice in my week's stay. Once at 6:30am and alarm pierced for 20 mins. This is probably because co-located in high rise. Co-worker said it happened on two prev trips so no more for me.
Oh yeah: exec room was huge. No view. -

Nicely located hotel. Rooms were bigger than I expected, probably 20x13 for the living space.
Everything is standard for a Marriott hotel. -

Marriott Yorkville was great. I have had an on-off relationship with Marriotts but this one was particularly good. When I go to Toronto the most important thing for me is access to the subway since I seldom bring a car. Of all the hotels I can think of this has the best subway access -- only steps from the hotel door and access to both the NS and EW lines. (Even the Royal York, which has a pretty convenient subway access, only gives you one line).
The pluses:
1) Location -- proximity to subway is terrific. And Bloor Yonge location gives you the museum, upscale Bloor Street and jam-packed Yonge Street. Also, a good sized (high-end) grocery next door for essentials.
2) Staff was super friendly throughout the whole hotel --- cleaners, waiters, everybody would always smile and say hi whenever I came by. Staff was also very efficient and helpful.
3) Room was very comfortable -- Great bed and bedding; very quiet; clean; nice bathroom; proper desk chair at the desk.
4) An empty fridge (not one all jammed up with mini-bar crap)
The other things (not really minuses, just coulda been better):
1) Internet (wifi or wired) is not free -- about 14 bucks a day.
2) Lobby is functional but not opulent. Does not scream "Hey, I'm staying in a high-end hotel."
Overall, a great hotel. Made even greater by the fact that I paid about half-price through a Hotwire booking (which I have just learned is owned by Expedia). -

Very Clean Telley but there view out the window is Horrible, End-less you have the street side view. Customer service and breakfast down stairs was amazing. You can't beat it if you wanna walk down the main strip at any time, one block down. Cabs are desperatly waiting for you in the front at night for the night scene. I recommend to any one.
Disslikes:
You have to pay for Wi-Fi....There prices are high enough that they should of included it!
You have to pay $25-$45 (Can't remember the exact amount but you can call them and ask) for Parking in every Hotel Practically in Downtown Toronto.
Cab Drivers in the front of the Hotel will take the WELFARE route to spots you ask them too..So Keep your own directions to remember if your getting played or not! -

I booked this hotel thru PriceLine and got a very good deal. The hotel is outside from Toronto downtown but I have no problems since we have a rental car. One thing that I still don't understand why is that they charged us $10 for parking per night.
We got to the hotel a little late from driving from Niagara Falls. They checked us in pretty fast and we got the room without any problems. The only thing that I don't like is that they put us in the back rooms where we have to walk quite far. Anyways, I shouldn't complaint with the price that I'm getting... ;-) -

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel. This is a fine, 6 level hotel located in a nicer part of town with direct inddor access to a shopping centre and the subway. This hotel is not a typical 4 star hotel, there are no resort features (like a pool) and the concierge service is lacking.
The room features a flat screen LCD with non-HD cable, which amplifies the pixilated 44 channels. The most important part of the hotel room was not spared: the beds are comfortable. The bathroom is not luxury, it has a small over-the-tub shower in a small room. The sink is located in the bathroom.
When the bellhop delivered my bags to my room I asked if wifi was available and he told me that there was no wifi in the hotel but a wired connection was available for a fee. Turns out that wifi is available for $13.90/day (wired internet is the same price).
Valet parking with in and out privileges is $35/day. Self parking without in and out privileges is available below the building for $17/day.
Behind the main elevators in the hotel is a room with a staircase and an elevator; these go below to the shopping centre, subway, and self-park areas. -

Great location!!
This is one of my places to stay when in Toronto. The location is awesome for people who enjoy walking to certain destinations. There is shopping nearby, and Church Street is right around the corner, which makes an easy access to nightly activities.
My stay here was excellent. Parking is in the hotel, which can be pricey for nightly stays, but it was very convenient.
I suggest a higher floor as well. I have stayed on lower floors, which can be a little noisy and some of the rooms face to the interior and this means you can't really open your curtains without the world seeing your business. Unless you are into that.
The rooms were very clean, nice tv, bathroom etc. But the highlight of the room was the bed. Divine. One of the best I have slept in. You just pass out, once you hit the sack. What more can you ask for?
I will always try and stay here, just for the convenience of walking to a great nightlife! -

We stayed here when in town for our wedding and also had our out of towners stay here. We first booked with Marriott nearly a year in advance, having received a good group rate from them through http://Busrates.com. Their event coordinator, Kristy, was really helpful in dealing with our out-of-towners, many of whom were coming from outside of Canada and had plenty of questions. They made the room block booking a very easy process and - unlike many other hotels in Toronto, which require minimums or guarantees - we were at no risk for unbooked/cancelled rooms (provided they were cancelled at least 24 hours in advance). Considering the location and quality of hotel, we got a great rate for our group.
The location of the hotel is awesome - directly above the Bloor/Yonge subway station, which was a big reason why we booked here. Our wedding venue was right by the St. Clair subway station so we wanted easy access for our guests to get both there and to other hot spots in the city.
The rooms were very clean. We (and several of our guests) wound up on the first floor with courtyard views so nothing particularly scenic. When I lived in the area I had thought that the large tower was part of the Marriott but I believe they really only have 6 floors and the tower isn't actually a rent-by-day hotel. I could be wrong. The rooms though were comfortable. We didn't watch any tv, so can't comment on that, but they were consistently cleaned and the beds were comfy.
There isn't a pool which was a con for some guests. The biggest drawback was that they were in the midst of elevator renovation so it would take a really long time to get an elevator and there weren't really stairs to use to go down one flight. Other than that I don't really have any complaints. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean, and for a group with about 20 rooms everything was pretty smooth from check-in to check-out.
I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a group hotel in a very accessible part of Toronto. -

The Bloor Marriott isn't the fanciest hotel I've stayed at, but it was a comfortable stay and in conveniently and centrally located. The room with king size bed was nice. You can decline housekeeper service for some Marriott points or a discount on a later stay, which works for me cause I really don't need the bed made or place vacuumed for my couple-of-days stay. I forgot a razor; they sent one up. When I was leaving the lobby, suited up for a run, one of the bell men stopped me and recommended a couple of good trails close by - that was awesome. In fact, that kind of thoughtfulness has never happened.
I would definitely stay there again, either if I visit for work or when I vacation with my wife.
Downsides: no view outside my clouded window, unless you believe that a giant vent structure is nice to look at. I had to negotiate the price down - they offered $200-something, but the deal on their web site was $139, however that was only if you prepay early with no refunds. I had to reschedule and drop a few days, and only got a refund after namedropping my employer. I did not visit the bar or restaurant as they didn't seem particularly enticing. I boozed and dined in the neighborhood; there were plenty of decent places to go. Finding locally sourced food and vegetarian fare - both important to me - near the hotel was easy. -

Stayed here for a night. Sheets were clean and had a great view of the roof and building next to us.
They have a sink outside the bathroom, in case you need to use the sink and the bathroom is occupied. Can't really complain. It has a good location, considering we were tired from the strip club.
On thing that totally annoyed me was, we were waiting in the car while our friend went to check in as it was freezing outside. The entrance wouldn't open because you needed a guest card to open it. We saw some people leave the hotel and then try to get back in as one of them forgot something. they were trying to get back into the hotel using their guest card and it wasn't working. A worker came out to put a sign in the doorway saying to use your guest card to get in, seeing that they were trying to use their card and ignored it. He actually had the nerve to walk away from paying customers! They were waving at him to open the door, and he just walked off! How RUDE!
The parking attendant came back, and was wondering what was wrong with the doors. He tried his card and it wasn't working. The other people outside were trying to get back in as well. The parking attendant realized the doors were broken or something and when the guy who walked off walked by, the attendant waved at him to open up, and finally he did. the doors weren't working so the attendant kept them open as he his area was inside the door area.
But still the first guy who put the sign there and walked off, that was just incredibly rude. and if i were already paying and staying there and you did that to me, i'd leave and demand an explanation of your rudeness and laziness!
I would not recommend staying here to anyone due to that kind of service. -

This hotel has a good location and a fair price if you need to be in Yorkville. I wouldn't consider this a luxury property, but it has the standard features of a slightly old, full service Marriott.
The rates are reasonable for the area, and I usely spend less than $200 a night. If you want to stroll out and about town, and don't need ultra-luxe, this is a good choice.
One point- If you are a Marriott Gold/Plat member- their concierge lounge has been under construction forever. In compensation (for Marriott Gold / Platinum members only)- they'll give you a free breakfast coupon (which can be used for room service).
I've stayed here many times, and am sure to stay here again. -

I wouldn't call it a luxury hotel, but it is a great, functional business hotel.
it is conveniently located on bloor st and also has secret access to a subway stop underneath
rooms are clean and spacious (especially by European standards)
lots of restaurants nearby
