Review from David W.
One of the last refuges in the Point Grey - Dunbar area to offer high quality produce at affordable prices. The alternatives of Stongs, Safeway, Capers, and Market Place IGA have mediocre products at twice the price and half the quality.
This tiny story has been run by the same Chinese family for as long as I can remember and have plenty of Asian vegetables and sauces. Not quite the plethora you will find at Osaka, T&T, H-Mart, or Fujiya. The fact that its close to the university campus, six banks, 99 B-Line, pharmacy, post office, and VPL make this place a life saver starving students who somehow muster the energy to actually cook for themselves.
I'm not entirely sure where they get their produce but it always looks picturesque and very fresh. The peppers are always perfectly ripe with very little markings, the lettuce looks healthy and full with no brown edges or withered leaves, the bok choy green as can be, apples / peaches / berries / citrus fruits never seem to have any bruising or be too under ripe, etc. etc.
While I can't take points off for its size and hence its inability to hold absolutely everything I want, I do deduct a star for presentation and overall keep of the store. It vibes Chinatown grocery store: the floors aren't swept regularly which at an open grocery store can become messy in no time, boxes (empty and packed of produce) lying around, and don't bother asking for something you're looking for unless its the mother working.Listed in: Student Survival Guide

Review from Jennifer K.
Vancouver, BC
This neighborhood grocery store pretty much has everything you might need to throw together a decent meal.
Lots of fresh produce, with a whole center section for organics.
Locally-made bread, with gluten-free options...and tortillas too!
As for canned goods, you have to keep your eyes peeled for deals cause they'll stock those in larger quantities due to high turnover.

I wish I'd stumbled upon this place sooner, but I really do judge a book by its cover. It's taken me half a year to even enter this store because the storefront simply wasn't enticing enough, but it does reflect the unkempt nature you'll find waiting inside. I'm big on presentation, esp. if I'm going to be wandering in and out of a store on a weekly basis. Though the store looked much cleaner on this second visit...
Appearance aside, I was really hoping I'd found an alternative to Safeway but unfortunately, they don't carry a mainstay of mine - Lactaid...sigh. Back to the drawing board I go.Listed in: April Challenge: the Underdog, From Kitchen to Table, Point Grey
