In a quieter part of Richmond, small plaza but close to Continental plaza.

Probably considered a bit more upscale but the norm these days in Rmd.  Nice tablecloths and decor, thus a bit more costlier than others.

Shrimp balls, bbq pork bun, sesame balls are what you expect, and pan friend radish was probably the best.

the XO sauce definitely spicier than most, so that's a good thing in my books.

Parking's tough downstairs so think you can secretly park at the mini-complex next door behind Bubble Queen.

Would recommend if ppl dont' mind paying a bit more and great customer service.

The first time I ate here was some time in December 2011. The food was alright. It wasn't particularly memorable considering this is a highly established chain. Over the weekend, my partner and I took my parents here. We decided on this restaurant because he holds a membership card which allows us to enjoy a meal at a whopping 40% off if we "check out" by 11:30am.

I made a reservation the night before for 10am on a Saturday morning. By the time we arrived, the parking lot was full. My partner and I had to park in the adjacent building's parking lot. Parking situation here is not pleasant.

By the time we entered the restaurant, it was 10:15am but the venue was already 85% - 90% occupied. After we got seated, we went right to business. We ordered a plate of deed fried fish (served with light soy sauce and minced ginger) to start. That was REALLY good. The fish was crunchy on the outside and meaty on the inside. It was very nicely done. Not fishy at all. We then proceeded with the typical deep fried Chinese donuts wrapped in thin rice sheets, sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves, and deep fried taro slices.

The deep fried Chinese donut wrapped in thin rice sheet was fresh and hot. Two thumbs up. The sticky rice was good as well because the rice was not over-steamed. Yuck to soggy rice. Deep fried taro was light and not greasy. It was a great dessert to end off the brunch.

The bill (after the discount) came to $24. We enjoyed the food and we liked the price. I'd come back again for some more dim sum delights.

Holy crap, finding this place literally took us about 20 min. It's on the second floor of this little strip mall looking place so we were driving around Richmond trying to find it. Don't bother asking people on the street about where this place is because of the 6 people we asked, only one person even knew about the restaurant. We had to wait another 30 min once we got inside....but the wait was worth it!

This place had the best sticky rice ever!! The rice isn't too sticky and chewy. It was PERFECT. The other dishes were average, nothing you can't get anywhere else.

I'm docking one star because the service was very slow here. They would bring out one dish, and then we would have to wait at least 5 min for the next dish to come out. As with any restaurant in Richmond, I feel like you need to be able to speak Chinese in order to get good service.

We paid $10 each and we weren't stuffed. This place is a little pricy in my opinion and the only amazing thing we had was the sticky rice. For the amount we paid, I felt like it wasn't worth the amount of food we ate.

Since there are so many other Dim Sum places in Richmond, I probably won't be coming back. Also, based on the lack of people who even knew about this place, there must be other restaurants in the area which are better.

I think this is one of my favorite dim sum restaurants in Richmond. It stands out from the rest of the usual dim sum restaurants.

They offer a $20 gold membership card good for one year. You get 40% off if you finish by 11:30am and 20% if not and an instant $10 coupon to start. This deal is obviously worth it if you become a regular.

The quality of their dim sums are really good. The portions are smaller then most other places. It's very pricey as most plates are at least $5 each. Their one unique dish is the stuffed chicken wing with sticky rice. I don't know how they make it but it sure taste great. Tip: you must order it when making reservations over the phone. If you don't pre-order, they usual tell you that it's sold out. I also love their scallop rice rolls. The rice wraps are perfect in their texture and thickness. It's one of the best rice roll I ever tasted.  They also offer sushi but I never tried it, it's a dim sum restaurant for peck sakes!

The service is really good here. There were a few times that we forgot the gold card and they were nice enough to give us the discount without the card. The waiters seem to be very friendly.

I suggest always make reservations and order the stuffed chicken wings at same time. Although, reservations didn't seem to matter much last time as we still had to wait 20 mins over the reserved time. All parking near the restaurant is reserved, so best bet is to pay park on street or park free on top of plaza east of restaurant.

Apparently the rice stuffed chicken wings ($3 or $4 each) and the baked bbq pork bun are to die for so we ordered it. The chicken wings is good but not something you would write home about - it tastes just like fried wings and rice. Meanwhile the bbq pork bun was a combination of savoury and sweet custard. Although the texture of the bun was spot on, the combination of sweet and savoury is something I wasn't used to and didn't quite like. The other standard dim sum dishes like har qao and siu mai isn't too bad. Only 3 stars though as this place is very expensive compared to other places that serve the standard tasting dim sum.

Location is a bit obscure (hidden in a commercial area) but ample amount of parking.

If you're Chinese or somehow closely connected to someone who is, you're eventually gonna end up experiencing the 3-hr family banquet meals in a Chinese restaurant.  Since these events are definitely heavy on the time commitment end, it's particularly nice when the place serves up good food.  Trust me...3 hours in a crowded, high-decibel Asian restaurant coupled with just OK food is never a recipe for fun.

Thankfully, my uncle has really great taste and Top Gun was an excellent choice.  The dinner was filled with endless dishes that were extremely kind on the old tastebuds.  All in all, this is a great place for authentic Chinese cuisine.  Though I've never tried it yet, my cousins also say that Top Gun serves up amazing Dim Sum.

Top Gun is worth checking out for sure...just don't get caught in Ice Man's jet wash (sorry I couldn't resist).

Modern HK Style dim sum.  Stay away from the Japanese food offerings on the menu and stick to the excellent fresh dim sum.  They offer a nice variety of more unique dim sum that you won't find at many of the other restaurants and always have really fresh ingredients that help the flavours pop.  They also have a very broad selection of teas that are served traditionally so that each person at the table can have their own preference.

Parking can be quite difficult - but China World/Rice World is nearby with a large lot.  It also can get really crowded, so it is a good idea to call ahead with a reservation (which they take and actually honour unlike many dim sum places).  Meals are heavily discounted if you arrive early also (on a graduated discount scale which is based upon what time you sit down, not what time you leave).

One of the unique dim sum experiences you will have just based on the tea you drink. Each individual gets to order their own style of tea, unlike other places where they ask the whole table what tea you would like to drink. Each person gets an individual cup to cook their own tea leaves. And also, let's say you do not use up all the tea leaves they give you, it is in a nice little container for you to take home.

I've been to this Top Gun, and the other location at Crystal Mall, the menu is the same, except for a few items, but I must say the food quality and service is pretty good. The selection of dim sum is not vast, like other places, but the regular items are all there!

If you also pay for the "membership card", you get a discount on your meal, early dim sum here, you get 40% off, that is between 9:00 to 11:00, and then you get 20% off if your not that keen on waking up early! It's not cheap dim sum here, but it's definately pretty good.

There's pretty much no reason for my mom's asking what I'd like to eat every time I pop in to Vancouver to see the family. The answer is always 'sushi'. However, for the gramps, dim sum is pretty much synonymous for breakfast, brunch, and sometimes even lunch. Thank goodness for Top Gun J & C! Although their prices are quite high, being able to please everyone at the big ol' round table is most definitely priceless.

Everyone gets their own little pot of hot water and steeping cup to brew their own tea of choice. This is not only convenient and fun, it's also a great way to taste (or at least smell) different Chinese teas if you're unfamiliar and interested.

Dim sum, ordered off of a tick-it-yourself order form is always tasty and healthily portioned (sometimes overly so if you, like me, are more into variety than bulk). The fresh whole tilapia prepared two ways is one of my favourite in the city. The fillet is perfectly cooked to medium in thick and flavourful congee (rice porridge) while the head, bones, and tail are sauteed in your choice of sauce - I highly recommend the ginger and garlic.

The selection of sushi includes many delicately prepared maki, nigiri by the piece, and sashimi. Extra single-use chopsticks are also provided (unnecessarily and wastefully in my opinion) in case you don't want to use the same ones for both cuisines.

We've had dinner at J & C many times as well and the food has never disappointed. Besides the great food and service, the membership card which lets you collect points and get discounts on every visit, also keeps the large dining room bustling at all times.

Amongst the many dim sum options available in Vancouver and Richmond, Top Gun J & C Restaurant (not to be confused with the other restaurants amongst the Top Gun chain) is a stand out and worth trying out.

Classic dishes like shrimp dumplings (har gao) and beef rice noodle roll (sorry, I'm not even going to attempt phoneticizing THIS one) are not taken for granted and phoned in like most places might do, but executed with a deft hand and fresh ingredients.

Other fare such as duck tongue and steamed tofu are handled with a nuanced touch so that the intrinsic flavours and textures are not lost in a sea of sauce or unnecessary garnishes.  The perfectly crispy and seasoned fried fish was also a fantastic treat, made even more delicious when topped with the roasted garlic crumbs.

More playful, but equally delicious, dishes also made an appearance in the form of deep fried chicken wing stuffed with sticky rice, as well as a steamed papaya hollowed out and filled with hot almond milk.  You would carve out a piece of the softened papaya from within, and eat it bathed in a spoonful of almond milk.  Delicious.

Tea is also done old-school: everyone gets their own variety of loose tea leaves, steep it in your own individual tea bowl, then into the tea cup when it's ready.

Note also the special deals if you buy a Gold Card for $15 (but it's a $20 annual fee):
    - 40% off if you finish your dim sum and leave before 11:30 am
    - 25% off for any dim sum after 11:30 am

Sunday lunch at this place is always going to be very packed. It is far better to make a reservation even if it's 1hr prior to coming in.
I have been here numerous times for brunch, lunch, and dinner and the food has always been solid.
As soon as I get my tea order done, I would order stuffed chicken leg and baked BBQ buns. The first choice always seem to run out later in the afternoon. It is basically a sticky rice stuffed chicken leg (don't ask me how they stuff that much rice into a chicken leg...) $3.50 each is not cheap but it tastes good! greasy rice and greasy chicken leg dipped in a black vinegary sauce (what is it called?) is very good. I haven't came across anywhere else that makes it.
The baked BBQ bun is sweet, salty and greasy and so good.
I also ordered deep friend squid which came with mayo sauce, but this was only so-so, nothing special. The fried flat noodle with shrimp and egg swirl was very good, hearty! The food comes a bit slow, and there are just so many ppl in the restaurant and more ppl lined up outside. The parking is tough to find in the little strip mall.
If you eat here often you are better off to get the Gold membership card which gives you discount on food 20-40% depending on what time you eat and pay your bill. If you eat and pay before 11:30am you get 40% off your bill! Though it seems like a best deal to who wakes up at 6am and don't have work. The membership costs $20 and you also get two $5 off coupons :) Anyhow, now that I have the membership I will be coming here more often.

Dim sum here was good with typical dim sum selection; no carts here, you order off the menu.  This restaurant is a little unique in terms of it offers individual tea selection; instead of having to share one pot of tea, they allow each person to order their own flavor.  That was cool.
Dim sum wise, the portions are not as big as Sun Sui Wah's and pricing a little higher but the place was packed at lunchtime.  They are famous for their chicken wing stuffed with glutinous rice but unfortunately, they ran out by 11 (the time we sat down).  I was bummed since that was the reason for me to try this place.  We did try their famous dessert: almond milk inside a papaya and it was wonderful.  It was light and refreshing and a good way to end a meal.
We bought their membership gold card which allows you 20% discount on dim sum (40% if you go before 11, I believe) and different % discount on their other 4 affiliated restaurants (2 hot pot places and 2 japanese sushi places).  We thought this would be a good deal but the next day, we went to Sun Sui Wah and realized that Top Gun's prices were more than 20% higher than Sun Sui Wah so in hindsight, not such a good deal afterall.  They do also give you 2-$5 gift certificate but you can only use it after you get the card (which takes a week to process).  So for us visitors, it is hard to use up.  But I guess I can give to my family who likes to go to Vancouver.

The decor at Top Gun is nice and the service is good. The food is decent and the tea is good. Delicious BBQ pork buns (steamed), har gau, and fun gho .  A discount only applies if you buy a $15 Top Gun Gold card then the earlier you come the greater the discount. So two people $45 tips included no discount. If I compare this to Golden Swan and I would prefer to go to Golden Swan for their selection of dim sum, taste, portion, and price. Also home made chilli sauce : ).
