After a bad hair cut (and only because I didn't want to go Downtown), I will go back to Toni & Guy.

Although my stylist burned me 3 times when she was blow drying my hair,  the cut was one of the best I've had. She was probably having a bad day because of the above (and didn't even tune it to the fact that I flinched), and the cranky expression on her face. Still, I hate fake conversations so I welcomed the silence.

I found later that she has 2 or 3 years experience and the cut was $60.

I'll try Cheri or An next time. I may get so sick of my current "flat" cut that I'll be desperate to go extremely short soon.

    Her name is Cheri.

When you want a well-done inverted bob, you need to hire a stylist who is comfortable with hair texturizing by using a straight razor.

I'm really picky about hair cuts.

I have really fine hair that is neither curly nor straight and cowlicks in really odd places. But, I have found a life saver in An at Toni & Guy!! An is really good at listening to what you're looking for while paying attention to what your hair is like and what will suit you. She's really amazing at making versatile haircuts that can be worn trendy and funky as well as work-safe. An has cut my hair short & long and I've been happy with it both ways. Definitely recommended!

PS. I know this is going to sound weird, but the best part about Tony & Guy is that they play National Geographic animal videos on the TVs. It's relaxing and pretty awesome.

Tip! Sometimes they have giveaways on Twitter & I'm still working on winning something (@toniguy)

In case you hadn't heard, vanity is big this time of year.  Best get a good haircut lest you're party invites be strangely remiss.  All big cities are appearance obsessed and so there is never a shortage of a place to chop those locks.  Although I haven't made permanent residence in Vancouver for many years, whenever home I loyally go to the same place.

Toni and Guy is an international franchise and a high end salon.  I first went here when I was eighteen or so and have always gotten a great haircut.  The customer service is second to none and the place has all the style downtown Vancouver needs.

Likely all employees here are skilled.  I've always gone to the same guy, so if you can fork over his higher prices I recommend going to see Lance. Just tip well.

Have been going here for more than 3 years and have always been happy with my cut; simple, easy to style, but looks great.
I'm pretty selective about my haircut. The last time I was in Los Angeles, only 1 place satisfied me (despite their exorbitant price tag). Toni and Guy delivers a great quality but with 2/3 the price tag. ( Thank God!!!)
Their price is not bargain, but definitely worth it.

As a disclaimer, I have not actually received hair services from this place, just horrible customer service. As many people know, Toni&Guy is a famous hair salon and brand, so naturally, when I wanted to go under a drastic change, it was the first place I headed. I heard of lots of nice things about Deserey so I called in and asked to see her for a consultation. The person informed me that I'd have to wait a week and half and suggested, let's call her A. I then asked if she is a same-level hair colorist as they have a level system and she told me that she was, which later turned out to be false.
When I walked into T&G, the girl at the front desk was on the phone, and there was a gentleman infront of me. Repeatedly, the girl kept excusing herself to the gentleman, and making apologetic faces, after several mins of this, the girl put the phone on hold and the gentleman's stylist came to get him. It was my turn, and the girl wouldn't even look at me, no excuses, no apologetic faces, nothing. I must mention that the gentleman had on a very expensive looking suit, and looked very well-put together overall. And me, I was in normal everyday clothes, beause I had nothing special planned that day. So I was just waiting for her to just let the stylist know that I was there, and she didn't look at me, or put the phone on hold until she was finished. When I told her my name and such, I was told to sit on the couch. After several mins of waiting, a person whom I presumed to be A came, so I was getting ready, but they started laughing and getting into a conversation so I assumed it wasn't her. After a couple more mins however, I realized that it was A, who was already late for my appt. That's fine, I wasn't in a hurry. She took a quick look at the pictures I had brought, look a clip of my hair, and sent me on my way so I literally spent like 15 mins minimum waiting and about 2 mins in her chair. She said that she'd give me a call "early next week, like Tuesday" so I waited. (I went on a Friday I believe)
I waited till the end of the day on Thursday and called T&G, who then informed me that Wed and Thurs are her days off. The strand test requires about 1-4 hours at the most, and it's not constant attention, she'd put the bleach on and just go check hour or so, so the fact that she didn't do what she was supposed to even though she knew that she had Wed&Thurs off annoyed me. Saturday came, I wanted to give her time to do it, so I called around an hour before closing, and the girl at the front desk sounded annoyed and told me that she was with a client and that she'd call me tomorrow. All she needed to do was tell me that it went well, and to book an appt, or tell me that she couldn't do it, so I can think of something else to do with my hair, it would take her 30 seconds, and I didn't mind that she couldn't come right away, but why can't she take the 30 seconds to call after she was done? After all, I've been waiting more than a week now for a simple strand test. But I waited till the next day, surely she'd call today. I waited till 10mins before closing, and still no calls, I didn't wanna have to wait another day so I called, and again the girl tried to tell me that she'd call me back the day after, I didn't think it was going to end, so I was firm on having an answer, to which she came back and replied "she tried it but your hair went bright orange so she can't do it" 15 secs, tops. I had waited more than a week for that simple sentence and I had no idea why she kept me waiting and waiting. I asked then to book a consultation with Deserey, to which the girl told me that she was going on maternity leave. I inquired when exactly she was going on it, and she told me it'd be around 3 months later. So is she not taking clients for 3 months? If she's going on leave then, then she's going on leave then and not now. If I had been told when I first called I could've saved time, Anyways, I told the girl that I would like a consultation, and she told me to just come by whenever she's working. WTH then why did I have to book with A in the first place? The only reason I book a consultation with her was because I was told that Deserey was booked for a week and half or something. I book an actual appt a couple days after I planned to drop by just because I wanted my hair done asap.  Anyways, so I went in and was the 2nd or so person in the line up with 1-2 other people behind me. When I told her what I was there for, the girl at the front desk gave a a look and told me to go sit on the couch, after which she proceeded to answer phones, help people, etc, and about 10 mins, later she came to where I was sitting and told me that Deserey had called in sick and that I hadn't made an appt so it was my fault. I asked to book an appt, to which the person told me to just drop in, so it wasn't my fault, and when I said this, the girl sighed and said "So you do wanna cancel your appt or what" -exactly in those words. And I did.

Horrible customer service!  Made an appointment, rushed to get there in time, and was left to dry for 30min!! on the bench in front of reception. After the intial welcome and "your stylist will be here in a few minutes" nobody talked to me, nobody appologized, nobody told me how much longer i would have to wait - nothing! Completly ignored. After 30 minutes, i just got fed up - got up, got my coat and left. No appology was heard. This wasn't my first visit there - i'm a regular customer (not that it matters) but it certainly was my las visitt!!!! This is the most disrespectful attitude towards a customer! My time was wasted, and my hair was not cut. Why make appointments if u don't keep them?? You wont see me spending my $$ there - and none of my friends too! Will spread the word as much as i can. Being rude to your cusatomers doesn't go well with me.

This was my first time going to Toni and Guy and I must say, I was given one of the best hair cuts I've ever had.  The price was a tad steeper than I'm used to ($73), but well worth it.  I was offered tea/coffee upon arrival but I didn't have to sit and wait long as my stylist was on time and ready to go. While my hair was being washed I was given a head massage that was to die for; I almost fell asleep in my chair!  Afterwards, my stylist looked at the pictures I brought in and told me what would work for my hair and what wouldn't, and I really appreciated the honest feedback.  I hate when a stylist just tells me what I want to hear just because it's easier for them.  She even made sure that I was ready for the change (I had really long hair and was cutting it just at the shoulders). I was given tips on how to keep up the new do at home, and was never product-pushed, which was a nice touch.  The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because my stylist was a bit scissor-happy, as my hair was cut a bit shorter than I had asked for and shorter than where the stylist showed me she would cut.  However, on my way home I had 4 different people stop me and ask me where I got my hair done/tell me that I had beautiful hair.  Now if that isn't a sign of an amazing hair cut, I don't know what is!
