Delicious!
The service is top notch, the food is excellent and its well worth the price.
No problem getting a table for 4 on a Thursday night. We had 3 apps- stuffed mushrooms, chorizo and grilled octopus- we were fighting over the last few pieces. Then we shared 3 entree- paella, snapped and lamb chops. And you have to have creme catalan for dessert in a Spanish restaurant.
All of us have been to Spain and agreed it tasted authentic.
I can't wait to go back -

Got the old fashioned wait staff and service which is A OK. But when my friend asked about where the salmon was from, the waiter replied, "WHY?" instead of "I don't know." That's rude and, c'mon, with the whole sustainability craze? Every restaurant should be prepared to answer that question.
Prices are high for bland food that seems to swim in olive oil but having visited Spain-yeah-its like that. I'm just not up for paying big dollares for it. -

The quiet stretch of 36th Street that houses Toledo is a far cry from its namesake city on the banks of the Tagus, but the restaurant certainly deserves all the praise and accolades for being a worthy setting for fine dining when one is trapped in this relatively quieter but still characterless part of midtown.
Start with a plate of manchego, and then try the black bean soup with confidence. Let the plush setting and the attentive wait staff make you feel more important than you are and you look. But before visions of grandeur begin to take over, finish that plate of paella--every kind is well executed. When the dessert cart comes along, ask for the tartufo--it is an amazing complement to the food.
If only Toledo could graduate from a street to an avenue, it would likely have more traffic. But it seems to be doing just fine in its present location. And couldn't do a better job of serving "the classic cuisine of Spain". Bravo! -

Let's start with the look... wow. I mean, I was like, "Shit! I hope my date goes well, cuz this place looks expensive (it did. she was a very cool and fun person.)!"
Anyway, I needed to find a quick spot near my dates job, as our plans to get Colombian food had to be pushed.
After reading up on some spots, this one stuck out to me the most.
The service is incredible (my date quipped that she felt bad getting up to go to the bathroom while the waiters were out of the room, cuz they might get offended that she got up without them pulling out her chair and helping her LOL)!
The food was very good (I had the chicken al ajillo) and they are such dickheads, cuz when it comes time for dessert, they bring the ENTIRE FREAKIN CART OUT!!! How you gonna say no to that (genius! LOL)?!?!
The crowd there was older and rich. My date and I were def younger than most of their socks (did I mention older? by older, I meant OOOLDD.)
Overall, would love to try it again.
PS: Extra props cuz they have Don Julio tequila -

One of my most favorite places to eat in the world. It isn't trendy, and it is a bit stuffy, but this is real good Spanish food.
There are two reasons I come here. Shrimp villaroy for appetizer and Red Snapper baked in a clay pot for main course. To go here and not get either of those dishes is a sin.
The fact that they give you a fish knife for the Red Snapper is a joke, you can use your fork for the whole thing, it flakes apart like nothing, and the sauce it is amazing as well. Excellent to dip your home made potato chips in to.
Outside of my Red Snapper and Shrimp Villaroy, the octopus and shrimp in green sauce is an awsome appetizer when they have it, so is the stuff mushrooms with crabmeat, the African Lobster tails are also pretty good for entree, but are pricey.Listed in: My Neighborhood

As I have said before this is still one of my most favorite places to eat.
The Red Snapper baked in a clay pot is still amazing, it flakes apart like nothing, and the sauce it is amazing as well. Excellent to dip your home made potato chips in to.
This is one restaurant that in 5+yrs that I have been coming here nothing has changed. It is still amazing food with excellent service. I have taken friend here that never had Spanish food before they loved it, I have taken friends here before who didn't want to try Spanish food they loved it, and my dad who has raved around Spanish food in the village when he was younger even loved it. -

If you are looking for a small quiet place to unwind and relax after a stressful day, Toledo is the place to go. You can actually enjoy the dining experience without straining to hear your dining companion. The food is authentic Spanish and the staff makes you feel like family.

If you love great Spanish food you will love Toledo. It's facade may look a little bit intimidating but once inside the friendly staff greets you and once past the bar you find yourself in a cozy dining area.
I have only been fortunate enough to visit Toledo once and it was for a late lunch. There was only one other table seated at the time, which happened to be a table of three older gentlemen speaking Spanish (see previous reviews on theory on native languages being speaken). This not only made me hopeful that the food would be good, but it also added to the already great atmosphere.
Being familiar with Spanish food I decided to go for with traditional dishes of Gazpacho and the seafood version of their paella. I've actually never had the cold soup, which can be a little weird (cold and soup don't usually go together for me) but it was truly delicious. As my wife put it, it kinda tastes like a smoth, mild and sweet salsa. It was a great start to what would be an even better meal as the main course arrived.
Before I get ahead of myself, let's cover drinks. Naturally, we decided for local choices, I myself had the only Spanish beer I heard the waiter ramble off and it was very tasty. My wife went for the sangria and she said it was phenomenal. I'm not a big sangria-fan myself but I'll take her word for it.
The seafood paella, which includied such things as scallops, shrimp, lobster, clams and mussels, was truly delicious. It was served tableside in the pan I imagine the entire concoction was cooked in over the past few hours. The saffron rice was so rich and amazing that words can't even describe it! The ratio of saffron rice to seafood was probably 50-50, which I found very generious, and in every bite I took I kept finding more "hidden" gems. I did wish that the pieces of whole lobster had been slightly more cracked since I did manage to send the claw flying into my lap as I was trying to crack it open. But I guess that challenge is part of the meal!
All in all it truly was a ridiculously good meal, worth every star. It is a little pricey (Seafood paella for just under $40) so it will not be a place to go for a quick bite, but more likely for the occasional nice dinner with friends and family. -

This place has amazing sangria! and the food is great too. I can't really make a single complain about my meal here; everything was delicious, but the ambiance is extremely formal. I would recommend for a family dinner or a business gathering, but for dates or just getting together with friends choose somewhere else (although you could always start with a glass of sangria at the bar and move on from there).

Old school, delicious Spanish dining in a relaxing atmosphere. The wait staff feels a little dusty initially, but they are so attentive and really delivered an excellent dining experience. A lovely space for a relaxing meal. You forget (in a good way) that you're in the middle of Manhattan.

My favorite restaurant in NYC. Solid every time I go. Great wine list. Excellent appetizers. Chorizo, calamari and shrimp in garlic sauce, stuffed mushrooms.......Snapper in a clay pot is a must! Great wait staff.

The first thing I have to mention is just how overstaffed this place is. Each table is relatively small and having three large men hovering over a table for four feels very uncomfortable. One guy really needs to get a smaller jacket, cuz his sleeves was really close to the food. Of course, I do tend to notice things like that. =) So, on to the food..
Appetizers were all right. We ordered the calamari and octopus, which was lightly fried so that you could appreciate the calamari . The sauce was light, but definitely enhanced the appetizer.
We skipped the sangria, but it led me to finally appreciate San Pellegrino. It's all in the limes and the ice, baby.
After ordering the veal, shrimp in "green sauce", and lobster and oyster for three, I think I liked the veal the most. The shrimp was bathed in way too much sauce and didn't look too green to me. It kinda just tasted like shrimp in lobster sauce I had from a chinese delivery place at work. Even the veal was only so-so, and the lobster and oyster was close to meatless.
Their dessert cart is a great concept and definitely pressures you into getting dessert. I got their macadamian nut cake which I thought was quite unique. The coconut taste accented the macadamian nuts and I do believe it was the best thing I put in my mouth that night, yet that's not really saying much.
I must mention how cute I thought it was when they prepared the rice and three/four entrees for our plate in front of us. I wish they did that more at other restaurants. -

chicken villa roy was delicious, rice is moist and good, spanish potatoes are perfect and not to crisp like a chip, flan was great, sangria was strong and not weak like many other places, the decor is beautiful like a elegant spanish type style, people should try their chicken and meats for the sauce and not just fish because even seafood by the shore isnt great

Normally I am the type of guy to scope out a restaurant before I go to it but sometimes you just don't have the time to. Luckily I was walking down the street looking for a place to eat and stumbled into Toledo. Truly authentic Spanish food (Spanish, not mexican) served in a quaint, old fashioned Spanish setting with great white wines and helpful service. My only complaint was that the prices were a bit high given the amount of food received (6 shrimp for $28?) but everything was excellently prepared.
