WOW!! This place is great, I dont know how to best describe in words my experience at TL Spa. It is a great little hidden gem in Point Loma. I have had a few treatments there and they all were great, but Tyrla, the owner is bar far the best facial in town. She really takes her time and really knows what she is doing. Very professional but friendly and relaxing at the same time. They use really great products and the special lighting in the treatment rooms and music make for a relaxing ambiance. I only wish I could go more often, but I get to relish in the special treatment when I can manage to get the time to go. If you have not been, go now, you will not be disappointed.

Jenny is the best. I have been getting brazilians for some years, and I've had mostly good experiences but Jenny tops it all. She's so sweet you don't even realize she's about to manhandle you like no other (in the best way possible), some silly chit chat, then its over. She's very thorough, which is deluxxxe because I hate it when I get waxed and go home to realize they've missed some strays.
Every time I return home I have to make sure to go see my girl! I heart Jenny -

This place truly is as good as it gets!! The staff made a potentially awkward and uncomfortable waxing very tolerable. I can't say pleasant, because waxing never is, but the technician was so professional and helped me to keep my mind off of it.
The place was clean, parking was easy, price was good, all in all I certainly recommend this place to everyone. -

Linda was awesome. Super friendly and amazing. I've had a lot of massages before but she was the best by far. Perfect pressure, made me feel super relaxed. The facial was great and my skin looks healthy and has a nice glow. I plan on going back.

I recently got a coupon in the mail from my friends at TL Spa & Wellness. It turns out another friend went and saw Tyrla, per my suggestion! Woo! When people I know tell TL Spa I referred them, I got a coupon on my next service. SCORE!!!!

I got my first official massage the other night. I still feel relaxed and a bit heavy. Not fat heavy, but like i am carrying a cloud on my body heavy. She made me very comfortable, and spoke very sweetly before/during/after the whole thing.
I was holding on to a Gift Certificate for a long time and finally had a chance to use it. I am glad I did. I didn't know what I was missing! I will be back soon. I guess you are supposed to wait at least a month before your next one. -

TL Spa and Wellness is truly a diamond in the rough. If you didn't know where it was located, you might never find it. It's shoved in the back of a strip mall, behind Phil's BBQ off of Sports Arena Blvd, in Point Loma. In other words, if you haven't been there yet--you're missing out. Big time.
I have had approximately 50 massages in my life. Getting a massage is something I consider a necessity for relaxation, stress reduction, and overall good health. A good massage can change your whole outlook on life, and a bad one can leave you restless and anxious. I have had a bad back for about 5 years now, so a good massage is even more vital now than it used to be.
For my birthday, a good friend gave me a gift certificate to TL Spa and Wellness. I immediately booked an appt for a massage, but was slightly skeptical about a spa that was located behind a BBQ place, in a strip mall nonetheless. Call me snobby, but my expectations were low.
Upon walking in the door, I was greeted by a wave of calmness. The inside of this spa is like Japanese garden: there are soothing sounds of water coming from a fountain, it smells amazing, and soft sounds create a soothing atmosphere. I was introduced to Amber, who was to be my massage therapist. She asked me about any back problems, what I was hoping to get out of my massage, etc. I told her how picky I am about pressure, how I wanted to feel looser the next day but I also wanted to feel relaxed during my massage. I'm kind of a high maintenance customer, I know.
Fast forward 65 minutes: Amber is truly one of the most talented massage therapists I have ever been to. She really understands the need for healing behind massage, and worked with me on a personal level to try to understand how she could help me. I walked out of there feeling more relaxed than I had in months. Since then I have sent many friends to her, and been back 3 times.
There are a lot of cheap deals out there for massages, and TL is definitely not cheap--about $75 per hour. But the way you feel after leaving there is exponentially better than the other places I have tried in San Diego, and to me that is more than worth the extra money.Listed in: Places I like to spend my…

Although not a large 5 star facility, their treatments get 5 stars from me. I can feel Linda's massages days later. She also specializes in acupuncture. Many services packed into this a cozy location. Right behind the new Phils BBQ. Comfort food and a massage, mmmmm
Definitely worth getting to know them. -

Although it is a bit of a drive from my place, it's definitely worth coming to TL Spa & Wellness (which is located by the San Diego Sports arena in the same plaza behind Phil's BBQ). The waiting area has a relaxing ambiance due to the sounds of a water fountain and calm "meditation" music. Rachel, the receptionist, is always welcoming.
Tyrla is definitely my favorite esthetician -- she knows how to make you feel relaxed & comfortable, and "walks you through it" if it's your first time getting waxed. Another reason why I go to her is because she uses a special hard wax (instead of strip wax), which is less painful in my opinion. She is also quite the perfectionist, which I love, because she'll make sure every stray is gone and that's QUALITY service. =) Lastly, I love how she makes conversation and gets to know her customers and gives them goodbye hugs -- she's so sweet.
I've recommended Tyrla to quite a few of my girlfriends (like Diana below =P) and each one of them have had a great experience so far. Like me, they keep going back. I have yet to get a massage there. I've heard good things about Linda... so that is next on my list.Listed in: Salon Savvy

I have had 2 facials now and I just adore this place. Linda is an acupuncturist, massage therapist, esthetician, and wellness guru- and it shows in her treatments! My skin looks great and I leave there feeling so relaxed. I've had the fruit enzyme facial and the Maui facial and my skin just glows for weeks after. I'm making it a habit to come her the week before exams because I breakout when I'm super stressed. Plus, they carry Rhonda Allison skincare- a natural must for a girl like me with sensitive skin. Thanks Linda for keeping my skin looking fabulous!

I have been going to Tyrla for about 7 years now and would NEVER go anywhere else! She is amazing.
Even when I lived up in Orange County or was coming home once a month from Arizona, she was the person I trusted my waxing needs with :) It's a personal experience and she always makes me feel comfortable and relaxed. She is so kind and always takes such good care of my mom and I.
If I ever have friends in town that want to try waxing for the first time...she is the girl to set the standards for not only owning a beautiful spa, but the treatments themselves. I highly recommend you give her a try for any service and I promise you will never want to go anywhere else! -

I am a regular customer here at TL Spa and Wellness and I have to say that I give them a five star rating!
TL Spa and Wellness is a gem for girls like me - they offer a variety of beauty and massage treatments and they truly spoil you. I've tried most of their services such as the facials, body treatments and hair removals and every time I only have compliments for them.
They really make an effort to make every client feel at easy and offer the most enjoyable experience imaginable.
Tyrla offers a great massage and all her clients are satisfied. The European massage is the best and I can definitely recommend this to anyone.
I feel amazing after every session and I make regular appointments for myself. The waiting area is so relaxing and they have music playing constantly.
They have an amazingly friendly staff and they always do their best to accommodate you. They should definitely be part of every girl's beauty routine!
They have a facial and aromatherapy massage that goes great together. For the health conscious, their regular massages improves circulation and blood flow and help your skin to glow.
Tyrla is a great esthetician - definitely my favorite! When it comes to waxing, she knows her work. She uses a special hard wax that is easier on your skin and doesn't hurt so much at all. This is great because waxing can be dreadful for many.
If you are looking for a place to relax and pamper yourself, I highly recommend TL Spa & Wellness. The place is very nice, has a welcoming atmosphere and offers the best relaxing messages.
I am hooked! I am definitely giving them a 5 star rating. -

I was reffered to this spa by a friend after having many unfortunate waxing experiences at other spas around san diego. I will not go into to details but i have been burned and even had skin ripped off. My first time at TL I was a bit nervous but once the Esthetician brought me back to her room, i was very at ease. She was very sweet and did a fantastic job. She did not miss one hair and it was almost painless (well almost seeing as It was a brazilian wax).
Anyway, I also have been back for a facial....the best one I have ever had!!!! Ask for Marijke....Shes great! -

I used to go to TL Spa every month, up until August 2007 - that's when I entered and pursued my Master's program, thus, I spent 3 years since August 2007 living like a broke a$$ college student and could not afford going to this place, let alone anything else labeled "luxury".
But now that I'm done with the Master's program, I'm excited to go back to TL Spa in 2 weeks. Why?
1. Friendliness - this means that their staffs are not pushy at all, vs. other Spa places that would try to upsell their skin care products. They're easy to talk to, and even for Q&A session, they never act like they're too good for you.
2. Comfort - their staffs immediately put me at ease, and the environment also adds on to the comfort level.
3. Proximity - it's just right behind where I work, so all I need is hop over to this heaven at lunch time.
4. Treatment - WOW! Up until August 2007, no matter what type of facials I bought, I always fell asleep right away (imagine that - someone working on your face that can make you fall asleep). My aesthetician at that time told me that I looked cute snoring (ups!).
The bad part about this place? Everytime I was done with any treatment, I had VERY HARD time going back to work. Damn it! -

T L Spa & Wellness is hands down the very best spa in San Diego. It's a little hidden but that's it's ONLY con. The second you walk through the door you are transported to a calm and comforting place where you can relax and breathe. Yes that's right, relax, yes, even if you're there for a waxing. Yes, even if you're there for THAT waxing. The staff is amazing, warm, knowledgeable, and can answer any question or concern you may have. You even receive discount coupons for each and every person you refer!
Unlike so many other spas that shall remain nameless (you know, most of them) everyone that works there remembers you. They remember what you like, don't like, if you need to be talked through waxing, or don't like to talk at all during a massage. The staff are HUGE perfectionists, you won't leave with an errant hair or tight muscle depending on which service you are there for (and I really do suggest trying them all).
So, unless you don't like amazing service, from warm caring people who treat you like a real person and not just another face, get to T L Spa & Wellness!! -

Tyrla is the best. I have gone to her for over 5 years. She uses hard wax which is much less irritating on your sensitive areas then strip wax and she never misses a hair. I recently moved out of the area and have had an awful time finding someone new. I've ended up paying more for places that leave me sore, bruised with tons of missed hairs and hair that starts to grow back in a week. I never realized how great I had it until I had to find someone new. I've actually contemplated making the trip from Santa Barbara just to get a wax. If you are looking for a place to go don't even think twice about going to see her. You will not be disappointed.

First waxing place I liked here in San Diego. I actually went because I bought a Groupon but I will be going back as a regular customer now. Linda is the best waxer I have experienced. Super friendly, too. They even email a 25% off coupon every month so that's an added bonus. They have lots of other services like massages, facials, etc. I haven't tried them yet and I hope to be able to try them in the near future.

Michelle Mendoza is a new estetician to the group but I have been going to her for the past 5 years ! She is amazing - I am so particular about my eyebrows and pretty much see her every 2 weeks !! She is so good at shaping and takes her time with everything. She is extremely meticulous and makes you feel very comfortable. I highly recommend her !
