Tisol has been friendly and accessible for years on Main St. I prefer it to other pet supply shops because of the easy going, knowledgeable staff.
My cats all seem to have some sort of neurosis and weird habits, being rescue cats, yet the staff are always helpful and kind when I present them with problems to be solved.
The cat toy selection is the greatest, even for my current street smart furbag. Crinkle balls! -

Just got back from a random "why not" stop at mid main's largest pet food shop and I've got to echo all of the positive comments made before me.
Tisol is big~ish, super clean, and filled with staff that were still chipper and pleasant 20 mins before closing!
I went in thinking "hmm well the pup needs a new leash" and walked out with arm fulls of other stuff because the selection was so good and well laid out.
A real positive taking from our visit here tonight is that they have a full offering of Raw dog food products in a range of flavors close to and if not equal to what I've seen elsewhere. -

Yup, I have to agree, the manager of this store is a really nice guy. They have a good selection of holistic kibble, and raw food. The other staff, in particular the girls that work here have major attitude problems, they are quite rude and unpleasant to talk to.

I love this store. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgable. There is a no-hassle policy for returns. The prices are reasonable. The selection is the best. PLUS, they don't sell animals from animal mills like Pet Habitat (UGH).

I am so thankful to have a good pet store in the area. The staff are awesome and are generally knowledgeable about the products they carry. I get the impression that most the staff there actually like and enjoy both animals and working there. I am always greeted when I come in and asked if I want help when I do things hold up two different bags cat food and appear puzzled and/or confused about which is better, or say things like "I don't know what a Furminator is, but I've been told I need it".
They have a good selection of higher-end cat food (IGA next door carries the supermarket varieties), and a great selection of toys your cat will probably like. Due to the size of the store, the selection of things like pet carriers, scratching posts and beds is rather limited, but the staff have called the larger Grandview location for me on more than one occasion for a different sized carrier and bed. They'll also help you carry dog food or kitty litter to your car, if you have one. -

The staff at this location and others are very helpful and can answer most/all pet questions you may have. I have never had a bad experience with them and they have provided me free samples when I am looking for a new food and even offered to let me return something that didnt work for my pet even after it had been used.
You can tell the staff care about animals. I will never shop anywhere else for my pets!
They also have dontation boxes for the animal food bank. -

In my Christmas forgetfulness I neglected to get my cat something...bad pet owner...and so I headed off to Tisol as it is just down the street from my place..
I looked over the pre-made stockings that contained some tined food, catnip, tops and such...a good deal at $7 but not quite right for my princess...instead I picked out a few individual items that I knew she would like...and toys that weren't too garish to have out in my home....she LOVES her cat nip and I was advised that the spray cat nip is very good for the addicts like my sweet Gromit...I was given a suggestion from a gentleman in the store...everything was rang up in a flash and I was on my way to stuff her stocking!!!Listed in: My Main Street Mainstays

I love Tisol! I buy my dog food from here. The price is reasonable and the service is soo friendly. I have a coupon card to get a free bag of dog food after I buy a number of bags. They always help you carry the heavy bag to the car and load it for you.

As far as pet stores go I have to admit that I've only ever been to a few in Vancouver. Tisol though, is simply fantastic and definitely rates a mention. Everything you could possibly need for your cat, dog, bird, hamster, rabbit, or fish you'll find in this store. The servers are also very friendly and many times I have asked for their advice that has always been knowledgeable and helpful.
I like to come to here to buy my cat food. Tisol stocks some of the better, more protein-rich brands that you can't find in ordinary supermarkets. I also love their tactile rugs and pet beds. I bought my two babies a silky soft rug each that they absolutely love. They now sleep all the time, instead of just most of the time. -

I really like the Tisol stores. They stock very good quality food and accessories. For those of us that are concerned about what our pets are eating, and what kind of litter they use, Tisol has a great selection, that is ever expanding, of good, healthy and safe alternatives to the regular stuff. And the prices are very fair. The corn based cat litter I get is the same price (roughly) as it is at PetSmart.
I was very impressed with their treat selection yesterday. They have many kinds of cat treats now that are labelled grain-free, so you aren't feeding your cat a bunch of useless filler. I also like the containers of bulk toys, like crinkle balls.
They are the only store around that carries the cat food I use which is all natural and locally sourced with the proper proportions of proteins to fats and fibre.
Their staff are friendly and helpful, too. -

For a city that's so crazy for its pets, there surprisingly aren't a lot of great options when it comes to pet stores. They tend to either be massive corporate places on the highway you need a car to get to or questionable mom and pop joints that can't keep up with the pricing of the bigger places.
Thankfully Vancouver has the Tisol chain of pet food stores. They carry all the day to day stuff you need for a pet and manage to match all the prices of the bigger places as well.
The one on Main is especially notable for its service. It might be looked down upon a bit for being more corporate that the Main St. attitude but everyone inside .Tisol makes up for it by being friendly, helpful and really enjoying pets. Its fun to come in there with a dog or cat and its easy to strike up a conversation of you have questions about what you need to buy. -

I'm a fan of Tisol stores, but whenever I come to this location l always leave frustrated and annoyed! Some of the staff are friendly, but I always get the same hipster cashier with her hipster attitude. Have fun being a cashier for a long, long time you damn hipster! Other than the damn hipster, the prices are quite decent and the selection is quite big.

All I can say is Yay!! I love this store and so does my dog (he is usually terrified of stores). The staff here are so great and I find the prices to be right where I like them to be. I shop here not only because the big stores have been known to commit cruelty to animals but because it's a nice feeling to support the local guys.

The friendly and knowledgable staff here really make this place great. We came into Tisol just to pick up a few little toys for our new kitten and ended up leaving with a lot of good insight and tips from the workers there. They were all very helpful and down to earth individuals. They also offer a wide range of quality food and products.

Big place but like many pet stores in Vancouver its sadly lacking in quality rat food.

The other day I rounded up my teenagers and headed to Tisol for some flea treatment. NO, my teenagers dont have fleas. Our cat has fleas. The cat didn't feel like making the trip to the store. My teens didn't feel like going either but they listen to me more than the cat does.
Once there, fun was had by all. There's an expression that mentions 'a bull in a china shop' and another that mentions 'kids in a candy store'. There should be another expression 'like kids in a store full of dog toys'. Much fun was had trying out the toys that make noises. I was expecting them to start playing fetch with one another. Very interesting line of toys for dogs that don't have stuffing to pull out. One was a skunk that when shaken sounded like a duck. It freaked me out. At one point I wondered why only dog toys made these ridiculous noises and my very wise daughter had to remind me that cats are more skittish than dogs. I had a vision of my cat chomping down on a mouse shaped treat, only to have it emit a loud duck-like sound and my cat would become invisible for a few days.
They have a large selection of supplies for all kinds of animals. We found what we needed and had an enjoyable time doing so. -

I love this tisol, the staff are so helpful and most of them are really friendly. They give my dog treats every time and always help me choose the right products. I love the location and we look forward to our almost weekly visits.

A fabulous pet store that has a top-notch selection of food and accessories. They have high quality cat and dog food here without all the by-products and crap in it. Lots of collars, toys, leashes, cat trees - you name it. When we went there we also received great (and non-intrusive) service.

Whenever we run out of biodegradable poop bags we make a trip to Tisol on Main. We also like to stock up on chews for the dogs while we're here. They carry bully sticks in various sizes and even have free range lamb ears, tracheae, and bones. On a recent visit we got a nice sampler for free that included a variety of pet treats and special bottled water for dogs. Yeah, it's that kind of store, but I like it.

I think I've probably been to half of Vancouver's pet stores, and Tisol is the best. It's not cramped, and it has a good selection of food, treats, toys, leashes, clothes, beds and other pet gear. You can find a wider selection of stuff than higher-end places like Urban Puppy or Bark & Fitz (it's especially good for food), at lower prices.
