I have yet to walk by Tisol, with or without my dog, and see a dog walk by without caring whether they get to go in Tisol for treat!

Tisol is very conveniently located by my house and strategically positioned on the edge of a dog park - clever move, Tisol. They have all your basic, and advanced, dog needs (can't comment on the cat section, I don't have a cat and really know nothing about them).

My little Ellamae, at 12 weeks old, figured out in 2 visits that Tisol is a place where the staff love dogs and she will always get a treat! With my new Discover Dog tools in hand, the Tisol staff  are going to have to play by the rules now ;)

    See you soon, Tisol!

I went to Tisol to get some chewable leather pieces for my dog.  They have more variety and are better priced than Bosley's in terms of these chewable items.  I got a pig ear ($1.99) and a cow ear ($1.49).  Unfortunately, my dog doesn't want the pig ear!

The staff did not give me any free dog food samples to take home and try unlike Bosley's in Yaletown.

I admit it, I am one of "those" obnoxious people who have completely anthropomorphized my "boys", Rupert and Harry. While I have no qualms about personally downing a bowl of red dye #5 cheese flavored puffs that cost $1 per gross, I would not dream of feeding Rup and Harry junk. I want my dogs to have only the best quality dog food around.

Tisol has the most extensive collection of holistic and premium foods that I have seen in Vancouver. They also have crates, bedding, gates, toys, clothing, treats, and health supplies, in essence everything that you could possibly need for your dog.

At times the sales staff are not the most friendly that I have encountered, but they can be helpful when they are required to be. The occasional snotty attitude is tolerable when I can get everything I need under one roof just a few blocks from my home.

Love this place. I'm a bit of a pet-supplies-store veteran (having two french bulldogs who I totally worship) and goto a new pet store, it seems like, once a week.. Yet this place STILL had toys & supplies that I had never seen before. Very refreshing! They also carry a huge selection of grain free/locally made/high quality treats...  And that's not to mention the wall of Nylabones that they have (my dogs).

Prices are really very good ($9 for a 'Wubba'... that I literally paid $14 for at 'Bow Wow Haus' just 2 days ago!).  I can't speak to their cat/fish/rodent supply selection... but their dog stuff was impressive!

    Not impressed....
Second visit- on a Thursday, AFTER I was told my dog biscuits would be 'in stock' for their Wed. delivery. Now they say stock will be in for Friday....not holding my breath on their word...
Time to look for another pet shop that stocks some inventory with reliable supply source and information.

I get it, we live in a doggy dog town, full of woofs and wagging tails. But the only reason that it seems that we live in a dog town is because dogs are out and about while our little feline friends are waiting for us to come home -- just wanting to purr and snuggle when we bring a treat back from the pet store.

I've been to this Tisol a number of times... it's selection of cat food is decent and usually on par with the other pet chains. And it's a good place to stock up on poo rocks. That's right, you heard me correctly. My kitty doesn't like the gritty litter, he prefers to dig around in what I consider to be the diamonds of the litter family.

Every time I go looking for kitty toys, however, I get discouraged. Sure, my cat's a fiercely independent little dude but he still likes to get his kicks. Fortunately, a cotton pad with some catnip stuffed inside or a good 'ol empty roll of toilet paper with some holes cut into it, filled with food and stapled shut gets more action than all of the glittery strung balls on sticks combined. Chi-ching... I think I have a couple of award winning ideas here - patent pending!

I can't imagine needing anything for a pet that this store didn't carry. I find the pricing to be reasonable as well. The staff are pretty friendly but they're even more friendly to your dog which kind of makes sense.

I find the service here hit and miss.  Walked in with my brand new puppy and had a ton of questions but couldn't get anyone to help me.  Wanted to find puppy specific brands of food but the selection was limited.  Found a good toy but was pretty exasperated after looking through every aisle for things I never found.

Seems like most cat owners who review this place aren't all happy. since I don't own a cat I can't really agree or disagree. But I do own a dog so my reivew is dog related.
Tisol has lots of choices for dog chew toys and surpisingly cheaper than the big pet store in Richmond. I purchased the same toy in Richmond for 2 dollars more thinking since it's a bigger chain store it would cost less, but it isn't. They have a lot of choices on Kong toys for puppies and adults. Great selection on Organic treats, dog beds, carriers, potty training tools and dog clothes. I haven't really explored everything yet, but all I can say for now is that they have all of what you would need. If you just got a puppy, ask about puppy classes or obedience training. They can answer your questions.
And parking right infront of the street has never been a problem. Lots of their customers are repeat customers or live around the block so they usually zip in and out.

Minus one star because they don't do frequent shopper's rewards like the Richmond branch.

I come here for ALL my cat supplies and dog supplies when he was alive.

Recently, I realized that they take back unopened canned food if your cat happens to be a picky eater. I hate to have all this food go to waste.

They have great selection and very helpful staff.

This Tisol location isn't as big as the one on Main street (it seems), although it also had a great selection of natural/high quality cat and dog food and was where we regularly went due to its proximity to work. And since we didn't have a car, that was important. That said, our apartment was still probably 30+ blocks away... probably more... and my most memorable experience related to this store was buying a sizable cat tree from them and helping my husband carry it home on foot. Not fun.

Tisol is a great store for all things related to your pet.  What is especially good here is their selection of natural/holistic foods for Fido and Minou.  Come to think of it, I might even describe this place as being like Choices or Capers for your animal friends.  You won't find accessories like rhinestone collars or handbags for your pooch here, but you will find an excellent selection of food, toys, litter and other pet necessities.  And, the people who work here seem pretty knowledgeable and helpful.  Meow.
