A little out of my way but I dragged the Husband here a few weekends ago because a local dog rescue was having an adoption day and we were interested in taking a peak. Apparently this particular location holds many adoption days and fundraisers for various local animal rescues.
The store itself has a pretty decent selection and many of the prices are on par with Mr. Pets (cheapest prices for animal supplies). The staff was very friendly and helpful. -

A reliable pet store to give you good advice on pets or recommendations on products.
I just returned a bag of dog food for my dog because she didn't like the taste of it. The staff were helpful and walked up and down the aisles helping me look for another brand of food.
I then had to return the 2nd brand of dog food. (My dog is picky) In the end, I bought a vet recommended brand that Tisol didn't carry, but I would still shop here for other items on a regular basis. -

Tisol is the little pet store with the big heart deep inside Burnaby.
Located just off Kingsway (past Metrotown heading towards New West) Tisol is just off the corner on Gilley Ave.
The thing that really makes this pet store shine is the excellent service they provide and the wide variety of pet supplies they carry.
When our puppy was teething we weren't able to find a bitter agent that he actually didn't enjoy the taste of, this was to stop him from chewing on the furniture. While at Tisol the owner of the location actually allowed us to test a few of the products they had in store and we were successful in finding a bitter spray that the puppy quite disliked.
It's service like that which keeps us going back every time whenever we need a new chew toy mid weekend afternoon or are running low on puppy mats.
