I'm a FAN? How can that be when this is not an AYCE Hot Pot place? It seems almost contradictory for ME to be at a place where Hot Pot doesn't mean AYCE. There are times when I just want to enjoy a nice meal in a COMFY environment and eat just enough for dinner to keep me going until lunch time the next day.
The individual pots are nice and although it is not AYCE, the portions are enough for your average adult. They have a good variety of SOUP base selections that come with pre-selected ingedients as you're ordering a dish off the menu. Of course you can take some items off your BUDDY if you ordered Beef meal and wanted some Chicken.
I actually like this place compared to other Hot Pot places because you can carry a decent conversation on some light weekdays. Eat at your own pace without feeling the RUSH of staff flying behind your back. Here they bring everything to you ONCE and you're ready to go.
They don't provide sauce selections like other places and I believe this is what really makes the place a Shabu-Shabu restaurant instead of a Hot Pot restaurant at least in Toronto-terms.
The food is simple where you can get your own from any Asian Grocery market, thinly-sliced Meats, Asian vegetables, Noodles, etc... There are some SPECIAL items on the menu but I'm never had those exotic(i.e. Medicinal Soup Base) ones and have always kept it simple.
I guess it's hard for some to choose this place over having Shabu at home instead. If you are meeting friends and want a decent place for Hot Pot this would be a decent choice. If you feel LAZY like I do some times, then you won't have to DECIDE on what list of foods to choose from like the other places.
Sometimes it is COMPLICATED to select from a list of food to order at AYCE when you have 4+ people. Taking 10 minutes to come to a consensus and taking another 10 minutes to wave down a waiter to order is FRUSTRATING on those lazy sleepy nights. I just want SHABU and enjoy the conversation and make my decision ONCE!Listed in: This Pot is HOT

I've only had the hot pot here so i can't comment about the rest of the menu. I've had the one person sliced beef hot pot and I would have to say it's was average. They bring out a plate of thinly sliced marbled beef and also a plate of various items (cabbage, quail egg, tofu, vermicelli, other vegetables, grape tomatoes, baby corn, taro, crab meat stick and some other stuff) and a bowl of rice. Starts off with a soup and some appetizers too and usually an orange for dessert. You cook the food yourself in your own pot (no cross-contamination with your buddies) on an electric plate. The wait times can be brutal in the winter but since it's summer - it's pretty light.
