I was waiting for something substantial for my 500th review and started putting all my other reviews on hold because of it, but Timothy's will do!

It's a great work from coffee shop type place. It's big, never lacking for a seat, multiple outlets located at the bar area in the front, and a few at the back. Free wifi, and one of those coffee shops you wouldn't feel guilty or uncomfortable nesting for a few hours.

The drinks does not have variety that Second Cup offers, nor are there enough lighter pastries other than cakes, and nanaimo bars. There is however, a basket of different bread/cake slices (like banana bread and carrot bread with icing) for you to choose that might satisfy this.

There's also a whole refrigerator full of different pre packaged drinks if you're not coffee inclined.

Also a nice big patio outside, so if you don't need power, you can still get the free wifi!

When given a choice on where to go for coffee... I've always gone with the crowds and stuck with Starbucks... But I think that Timothy's has opened my eyes to my blind loyalty to Starbucks.

Came here with Tony F. in hopes of scoring some dessert and in hopes of walking off some of the food we had at Guu.

Maybe it was because Timothy's was the coffee shop of choice at Schulich School of Business where I got my forgettable education, and that's why I've been avoiding the chain altogether in fear of negative flashbacks of my university years.  But I am glad that Tony F. as well as the "Free Improv Night" poster out front re-acquainted me with this chain.

I got their dark roast coffee, Tony got a tea, and we got a brownie cheesecake (all their cakes are made by La Rocca).  The cheesecake was divine although the weak point were the brownies, which were dry and forgettable.  They have a much wider selection of desserts and goodies than the average Starbucks.

The improv was pretty brutal, although you have to cut them some slack because some parents decided to bring the elementary school drama collective to a Timothy's after their show (aren't they a little bit young to be drinking coffee?  I guess these parents don't value their sleep, cause Little Tommy will probably be bouncing off the walls for at least another 3 hours after his 9PM coffee quaff).  So they had to keep their jokes pretty PG, and I don't think the troop had much chemistry.

Free wi-fi and plenty of seating.

Free Wi-Fi, less pretentious than Starbucks, free Improv shows during the winter on Friday nights (9-10pm).  Oh and there's coffee and a variety of baked goods.

    Nom.

This has become my local coffee shop, which is okay given that I never leave disappointed, but a little sad because it's nothing special. I like the coffee, but if I were to compare it to somewhere like Dark Horse, it would lose every time. Usually I'm not a 'chain' kind of person because I think the quality of coffee is lower, but given the state of my addiction, I am so glad that Timothy's is conveniently close for me!

That being said, the iced coffees have been helping me get through the long, hot afternoons at work, and they are also how i bribe myself to bike to work in the morning. A-okay!

So apparently Danforth is in a state of emergency. No cafes with free wi-fi anywhere. Si Espresso and Broadview Espresso were disappointing on many levels, not just with their lack of wi-fi. I walked for blocks and blocks and came up short - there was not a single enterprise offering wi-fi, anywhere. Even the useless jackass at the Rogers Wireless store couldn't help me with free wi-fi (odd, since in other countries, mobile carriers provide hotspots for a certain radius circling their stores, especially to their own customers).

    Enter Timothy's.

There is a stultifying variety of cold drinks here. Absolutely mind-boggling. From my peripheral vision as I type this using free wi-fi, I can see:
    Odwalla (10 flavours)
    Vitamin Water (5 flavours)
    Fuze (5 flavours)
    Minute Maid (5 flavours)
Fresh squeezed OJ & grapefruit juice
    Nestea iced tea (3 flavours)
    Glass bottle Coke & Sprite
    Orangina
    Perrier
    Evian
    V8

...and that's just the pre-packaged cold drinks. You can also get brewed iced tea, smoothies, frozen coffee, frozen chocolate (??) and then there's the usual hot selections of coffee and tea.

The baked goods section is equally mind-numbing. I had a hankering for marble cake until I saw the banana bread. Then I saw the lemon poppyseed, and then my gaze went for the raspberry white chocolate scones. And then zucchini bread, and the muffins. And brownies. And basically anything that can be jammed into a loaf pan and baked at 375 for 45 minutes. It's here.

There's nothing not to like about this location, except maybe for the fact that it's not as spacious as the Bay/Queen location. Good hours, great location next to Carrot Commons, a sweet street-facing patio and no nonsense wi-fi.

This coffee shop sells the best chocolate covered macaroons I have ever tasted! It is worth a trip just to try one! Along with a hot cup of strong coffee, of course.
A problem, however, is the close ,cramped indoor seating area. No matter where you are, you are always privy to your neighbour's conversations. It is better in warm weather when the large outdoor areas accomodate the patrons.
A solution is to take your macaroon and coffee to go, or buy enough to enjoy at home later....
