never tried the high school lunch menu that everyones talking about. who needs it when you can get full off cheap liquor. i know where im going for lunch next time i get a break from work.
also has 3 nice little pool tables with plenty of pool cues all still in decent condition.
just for that, i would give this place 10 stars. just crossing my fingers they keep it that way once they get busier. -

Thank goodness for Time Out. Many a time my friends and I have stumbled in less than sober and were saved from our starvation by the surprisingly legit usual SD late-night mexican food (among other stuff, like really good beer-battered onion rings).
You walk in and see a bar, some pool tables, and in our case (friday night), a karaoke set-up. Personally, I wasn't expecting much, but when we got our glorious order of carne asada fries, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was it huge (perfect, since there were three hungry girls ready to pounce) but the quality of the meat was actually really good and there was a lot of cheese, which I always appreciate. I remember thinking "this is delicious..." and then it was gone! :)
Our waitress was really nice and the service was relatively quick.
Summary: need a place to nom after hours in the gaslamp? hit up Time Out because it's cheap and yummy. -
Review from David K.
Time Out is a hidden gem in downtown. On a particularly boozy night, my friend and I stumbled in here on Saturday night because we could get a stool and take a load off. We were shocked at the inexpensive beer prices and I was happy I could get a California burrito. The place looks OK on the inside, and yeah, the bathroom is down a long hallway out the backdoor, but it's also the kind of divey place that downtown is sorely lacking in (other than maybe Tivoli and a handfull of others).
The quality of the Mexican food was better than passable, and is perfect for late night boozing. I came back another Saturday afternoon and tried the California burrito sober and still found it tasty and filling. When we were there, they couldn't mix full on cocktails, and instead could only serve beer, wine and schnapps cocktails due to ABC regulations. Not sure if they've remedied this situation yet (waiting period?). Regardless, they had a small but well chosen draft beer selection, and their namesake Time Out beer is cheap and drinkable.
All in all, for a cheap divey joint with pool tables, Mexican food, and TVs, you can't go wrong, especially when noting that it's only a block or two off the main drag of the Gaslamp. I was also pleased to find out after the fact that I get airline miles through Rewards Network for dining here. Double bonus. -

Thought about eating the food but the bathroom was so nasty that I lost my appetite. The bar itself is really dirty, never has anyone in it, and smells like they let people smoke inside cause it blows in from the patio.
All this being said...it's ridiculously cheap for food and booze so if I'm pinching for pennies I might just come back to catch a game.Listed in: I'm Indifferent

This place sucks. It smells like smoke inside and when you call them out on overcharging you they say the manager has to fix it but the manager never shows up. Bad business.

At least they're open until 3am...
Ordered a cali burrito and wasn't up to par.
Meat was very fatty and had to spit out a few chunks.
Also, too high at $7.75.
Customer service not the greatest.
I'm guessing they didn't trust us because they asked us to pay before we got the food.
They do seem to not be busy, there's alot of seating available and lots of TV's to watch. -

Just a really nice local pub. Went here a few times while visiting my cousins in San Diego. I liked the laid back atmosphere and the service was quick and courteous (granted it wasn't too busy the times we went). I really loved the French dip sandwich and the Chicken wings. The coffee was surprisingly good too (I had a vanilla frapaccino once). The menu is a little weird (Mexican and burgers plus coffee and beer?) But all the food we got was top notch and was decently priced.

Excellent.. that's what I say. I have been working in downtown SanDiego
for many years and have never had such a nice first visit to a new business. I was between appointments..so I had a late morning coffee, watched some tv, met a few people..talked to the owner who is very accommodating and a charming host. As I was headed to the DMV for the afternoon I ordered one of there burritos.. great food, great value..and they have STONE IPA on tap.. some fine new age jukebox music playing..I for sure had a wonderful time out.. you will too! -

Food wasn't spectacular (comparable to your average junior high cafeteria), but there are several big screens showing sports and a decent beer selection. Also has a bit of a Mediterranean flair, with Hookah and other food items from that part of the world available.
Maybe decent place for happy hour, a game of pool and getting caught up on Sports Center? -

What a great place to be able to go and chill out at! The staff is super friendly and really quick service. The owner is definetly revamping the place with new seating and they just added kareoke on friday nights! I cant wait to see what they add next! The price is def one of the best you will find downtown, i would highly recommend all check this place out.

Very odd coffee-shop turned divey sports bar. I work across the street and was short on time for lunch, so decided to check it out. It was a strange experience. There were people sitting at the bar at noon who looked like they'd been there a LONG time. Was trying to have a business lunch, and a strange older gentleman turned on the jukebox and started dancing to us. We decided to move out to the patio (which was better, but has a lot of traffic noise, since it's right on Broadway).
Food was not very good - cafeteria or average-diner-like. But the young gal behind the counter was very sweet and apologized for the dancing man, so I'll give it 2 stars. -

The chalkboard menu outside the front patio stated "deli sandwiches" so I thought it would be a good place for lunch. I wouldn't really call this place a deli, more of a bar. The food wasnt really good (the nachos were just tortilla chips with Cosco bought cheese) and when we went in for lunch around 1pm there were three old men at the bar that seemed to be drowning their sorrows.
However there were large TVs with all the march madness games on and two pool tables so i guess this place would be a better sports bar at night than at daytime for lunch (or any kind of food)
Oh yeah theres a Juke Box and one of the drunk old guys kept playing just Mexican music??? -

This place needs help. This place has no atmosphere. Came in on a Thursday evening and people seemed to loiter around inside making it seem like a dive bar. Ok so that isn't always a bad thing. But a rude bartender who has no concept of customer service is another. She seemed to be texting on her phone out front while I saw literally three empty glasses that needed to be filled. Then I asked for a drink got served. No problem, then was wondering about food and had to ask for a menu. Finally a customer asked for a game and she acted upset for asking for a game in a sports bar? I paid for my beer and went to another place that has a concept of customer service.

Nice new bar, good prices, fun environment. I would not mind going back to watch another game soon.
