Snowy Banff morning, walked into a pleasant atmosphere and a friendly host. The decor is good and so is the breakfast. My Dad had the 3-egg omelette and I had the French Toast, which came with fruit (strawberries, blueberries) and maple syrup, a raspberry filling and was sprinkled with icing sugar. It was excellent service, free coffee refills etc. The French Toast portion could have been more generous for the price, but overall a very good place with an excellent location!

This was the absolute worst breakfast I have EVER had....Our first warning sign was the 'chef wanted' sign in the front window and the second a nearly empty restaurant, shame on us we broke both rules. The 45 bill was the final blow. Shame on Timber.

The nearly empty restaurant on a busy Saturday morning should have been the clue. Absolutely worst meal I have had in years. Precooked (yesterday?), dry, and cold sausage and hashbrowns - YUK! Micky D's is around the corner, go there and save $45! PS - the cook walking about In his very dirty white cook's jacket is my lasting memory of this disaster.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to try out the food here because, as soon as we walked in the door to check the menu out, a fellow sitting at the counter told us we weren't allowed in with our coffees that we were carrying along. The funny thing is, we weren't quite ready to eat yet and we were walking along, checking out menus to make our decision. We left the restaurant after the words from the owner (at least, we're assuming he's the owner) and had the last two gulps of our coffees and deposited them in the trash. Like my husband said, "Maybe the guy's having a bad day" but we visit Banff often and we would have liked to try the food there but being centred out as soon as we walk in the door because of our coffees just didn't sit right with us and we won't go back, I'm sure.
I see by the reviews now that it's no big loss for us. I do have to agree that the restaurant was, indeed, inviting so it's too bad. Decor looked great! -

Banff is a classic tourist trap, especially in summer. This place personifies the worst of it.
Great location, with nice patio and view!
Disinterested and untrained staff. Franchise menu without the franchise. 45 minutes later (after hunting for server to ask for menus, then to order) got my "stuffed bison burger" which was cooked to the consistency of igneous rock, and (I can only guess) that the herbed goat cheese stuffing was "stuffed" on top. Even the ice tea was unpalatable (sugar syrup with brown food coloring?). Maybe the pasta and beer would be better, requiring less expert attention. -

I am being generous with this rating, but I didn't think the place was all that bad. It's actually quite a nice-looking restaurant, cute and in the middle of the Banff activities. We did not get to sit on the patio because the weather was cold and rainy. We ordered the chicken pot pie and a salad. The pie was homemade and served piping hot. It was lacking some salt, but I was fine with that and enjoyed it. The salad was good, but lacked flavor in the dressing. This would be my biggest complaint -- oily, tasteless dressing that weighed down the produce.
Our "sweet" teas (it's the way they make them here in Canada) were refilled constantly. I think Timbers probably does a strong business with their bar, but the restaurant is perfect for family meals during the day.Listed in: O Canada

I went here for breakfast. I ordered some egg and polenta thing. I ordered it vegetarian style--without sausage--and they got that right. I also asked for eggs scrambled--not fried--and they got that wrong, but it was actually good the way it came. The service was terrible. Too few servers and they didn't know what they were doing. My food came reasonably quickly, but I had to wait a while for the check. The couple next to me had ordered when I arrived but didn't their food until after I got mine. They also had to wave down the waitress for milk for their coffee and then for forks after their food came. It was overpriced. The food was good, as was the orange juice, but neither blew my mind.
