Background - Yes I landed at Terminal D and had time to sit down at one of the nicer restaurants.
Atmosphere - This portion of the airport is like a little mall. The pub had a small building that looked like they copied it from Ireland. Most of the seating was outside the pub area for the dinners. So the noise levels go up and down as planes arrive and people enter the terminal.
Food
Appetizer - none.
Main Course - Fish and Chips but not that overly greasy stuff you find wrapped in a newspaper. There were two large pieces Haddock breaded with panko, which made for a thick crisp dark texture outside texture to the white flaky fish. The chips were thick wedge cut fries with the peel still left on, with a slight breading. The meal came with a side of Cole slaw which they called vegetable slaw as it had green and red peppers, and red onions added to a traditional Cole slaw. The side of tartar sauce was like the lunch ladies, which I hate. Theirs I could not get enough of. The price for the meal was on the high side, $14.95, but it was the best meal I had on this business trip.
Dessert - I still had to catch my flight in another terminal so I did not press my luck.
Service - As the sign said seat yourself, but it took a little bit to be greeted by my waiter. The water I ordered came out quickly and so did the meal. I will ding him on the fact he never visited me once while I was eating my meal. But soon as I was done I pushed my plate away bam he was there to clear the table. He asked if I wanted dessert, no thanks just the bill. He walked by twice without the bill. The third time he saw the credit card and took the card and rang me up.
Future - If the time permits I will be back to try other items on their limited menu. -

I've never been to Ireland, but I've been to England and Scotland and this is almost identical to the type of breakfast you can expect there. The protein laden meal nailed the black and white puddings and the bacon made remember just how lame American bacon is in comparison. The only thing missing from the plate were beans, other than that there was more than enough of everything else at a very reasonable airport price of $13.95.
I actually planned my next business trip to stop at DFW for over an hour just to have this again. -

This place is a decent place to eat if you have an hour more layover in DFW. Across from Gate D-20, the place is set up well enough to feel like you are not quite in an airport anymore. The server came quickly and I ordered the fish and chips and a Guiness. Yes, definitely drinking in the middle of the day. :) Anyway, the fish was passable. The batter was way too thick and the fish was previously frozen, but didn't taste too bad when combined with the tartar sauce. The coleslaw was mayo-based and very bland. I may be biased since I prefer vinegar-based coleslaw, but this coleslaw was not worth the effort.
Service was great. The food came quickly and the check came quickly. This is a good thing when you are trying to get to a flight soon.
The price was about on par with an airport restaurant: ~$15 for the dish.
All in all, decent enough to go back to, but not my first choice. -

Ordered golden fried crab cake with slaw for lunch while waiting for my flight- across date D20. Just right portion for me- cake about size of burger patty with real chunks of crab. Aioli was just right too! Decent restaurant for an airport....

Among the ample choices for culinary delights in Terminal D at DFW Airport sits this wonderful Irish Pub and Restaurant across from gate D-20. Tigin offers traditional Irish fare along with many stateside options. They make a mean black & tan, and their buffalo wings are a "must have" for the traveler passing through. Put them together and you have a winning combination that will set the stage for a pleasant journey to your final destination.
This morning was my first foray into Tigin for breakfast. And I am sure glad I stopped by. The breakfast menu offers three items: Traditional Irish Breakfast, Irish Breakfast Sandwich, and Traditional American Breakfast. Simplicity is good. I noticed the delicious-looking pancakes at the table next to me, but they were not on the menu. "Our pancakes are delicious" Annie the server reported, "you should try them." Will do - with bacon and orange juice, please. Succinctly stated, this is not your ordinary pre-fab airport food. These were some of the best pancakes I have had in a long time.
If you are flying through DFW airport, and are fortunate enough to pass through Terminal D, give Tigin a try. No matter the time of day, you'll be glad you did. -

I frequently fly through Dallas and the past two times I have eaten at Tigin's. It's located next to gate D20. The restaurant has a really nice "patio" area as well as indoor seating. I've sat at the patio both times because I enjoy people watching in the airport.
The food is excellent (as is the beer) and the waitress was friendly. I had the roast beef and Swiss sandwich, as well as the fish and chips and both were cooked to perfection. Presentation was nothing fancy, but what to expect from airport food. This place really beats the chain restaurants at the airport like chilies and TGI Fridays, and I highly recommend it if you're in D terminal. -

Great place to grab a yummy bite to eat and a select beer prior to your next flight. the steak boxty has a jack Daniels onion gravy while the corned beef an cabbage boxty has a mustard based sauce.
i also love the little cafe store right outside the restaurant. i was able to grab a smoothie, cookies, bagel chips and water for my next flight out. totally saved me. -

This place was awesome. Great environment for a airport restaurant. Very clean, very quick, and really friendly.
I got their Chicken Buffalo wrap. SO GOOD. And my wife got the Chicken BBQ Burger. AWESOME! Top it off with a Guinness from the tap, and thats a meal made from heaven. I would highly recommend stopping here eating a quick bite to eat before the plane trip. -

Now this is a rare gem to find.. or at least a unique opportunity.
I simply must applaud DFW Airport for their new and beauiful Terminal D. A nice Irish pub probably wouldn't work too well in their old style of terminal, which feels rather cramped by comparison.
Also remember that this restaurant is behind the security gate, so you can't come here unless you actually have a plane ticket. And that's a bummer for me, as I love to explore large and interesting places.
Anyway, onto the pub itself.
We had a seat on their indoor patio, as it was much too crowded and crazy inside the pub. We got two Strongbows, a bangers n' mash, and a shepherds pie.
Not long after we placed our order the lovely waitress came out with our meals, and a set of silver-colored plasticware. Due to security issues, restaurants inside the security zone are not allowed to have real silverware, because it could be used as a weapon. Though I'm sure if you pressed hard enough you could kill someone with plasticware.
The waitress was friendly, and the restaurant was clean. We didn't see the restroom, and we're not even sure if they have restrooms. Overall I can't really complain about the place.
We finished our meal and got our check in a speedy service. And then we were off on our flight to London. Yes, we were only 10 hours away from having authentic English food and drink and we're having lunch at an airport pub in DFW. Somehow we didn't really notice the irony until we were halfway through our meal. -

Quick service. Quality food. Clean.
We've had breakfast here a couple of times.
This time I tried the Steak Boxy. The plating looked nothing like the photo in the menu, but the flavors were good. The veggies served were green beans. The menu says & show mixed veggies. They were still pretty good though.
We'll go back the next time we fly American through DFW. -

On a quick layover at DFW in the beautiful Terminal D, we stumbled upon Tigin Irish Pub.
Great little spot to have a quick meal. Mr. B and I split a Caesar's salad, which was very good, I know, how can you ruin a Caesar's, but we all have had them dripping in dressing, yuck. This salad was fresh and the dressing was light. We then split the small bite grilled ham and cheese. We got 4 triangles, grilled perfectly. What I love is that the bread was so soft as was the ham, it literally melted in your mouth. A nice find in an airport. We will definitely eat here again the next time we travel through DFW. -

On a layover halfway between home and foam parties, all-inclusives and the "two crazy Minnesooooota girls" we would become in Cancun, my friend Lil A and I stopped in here for a preflight Bloody Mary.
With absolutely no sleep in the previous 24 hours, I traipsed in looking as Gollum would if he chose to wear eyeliner and easily-removed-for-security stilettos. I want a bloody. I NEED a bloody. At this point I would gladly fling the One Ring at the bartender to get one (did not realize I was this much of a nerd).
Lil A and I sit down in the miniscule empty bar and order apps and drinks. She's vegetarian, so the options are limited. Artichoke dip and some sort of veggie broth it is. Gross. Any soup sans cream is anathema to me. Earn that cellulite, girls!
We wait. And wait. Normally it wouldn't seem so long, but as I'm sure the bartenders and servers are aware...most of their two customers have flights to catch. Ten minutes later we get bloodies. Twenty minutes later I pay our delinquent server in advance of receiving food. It's soup and cheese dip: Lord knows they don't have to kill and butcher a cow before cooking and bringing it to us.
Artichoke dip was delicious. Soup was exactly what I expected. Bloodies were disappointingly...ehh...maybe if you Irish boys would spend less time lookin pretty and drinking pints, you would make a better bloody Mary to impress this Norwegian girl.
We scarfed the food down and ran. Made boarding with three minutes to spare. Say what I will about those tired tasting drinks...I don't know if it was lack of sleep, food or both, but they did the job: we debated lying about our age and flirting with the high school baseball team flying with us...and the two young Mormon elders. Luckily we were too tired to do either.
Side note: Very cool how everyone clapped and cheered as a couple hundred soldiers came back from deployment. Boys and girls, we salute you for your courage and sacrifice. -

They changed the menu, no boxty or anything else very Irish anymore, except maybe the Guinness. Asked the waitress, and she admitted regretfully; they wanted it to be more "airport friendly" she said. Had the fish & chips; generic airport food, very uninspiring. Won't be coming back.

An Irish breakfast oasis in a fast food wasteland. If only they served magners.
I was stranded in DFW for 2 days due to a blizzard in NYC. Eating here saved my bacon. Well, more like saved my sausage, ham, beans, tomatoes, bread, eggs, and white pudding with a side of Strongbow. -

It's a pretty tall order to create ambiance in an airport terminal, although for this low standard Tigin does okay.
The inside is a little small but has a full bar with nice seating. Despite the bright lights of the terminal the inside lighting is close to twilight, no doubt helped by the dark wood interior.
Since the inside was packed, I grabbed a seat in their outdoor (i.e. food court style) patio. It's bordered by a few large screen TVs which was perfect for catching some of the basketball games.
Service was a little slow and while not unfriendly, appeared somewhat jaded. Understandable, I suppose, in the bustle of an airport.
I tried the fish and chips which wasn't a bad choice. These were your basic average pub food. It's not outstanding enough to give a rave review, but certainly edible.
Overall, it's not a destination. But if Dallas isn't your destination and you find yourself with some time to kill in DFW, Tigin is probably an improvement on the typical McDonalds/Burger King airport food court fare. -

Eating at this place was a refreshing switch from the played out franchised airport eateries I've been to.
Great pub bar food with flowing beer, TVs playing soccer and friendly
servers willing to please.
I loved my steak sandwich and fries. Very tasty. It hit the spot after spending hours on a flight that only served soda and outlawed peanuts.
My Arnold Palmer always stayed full.
If you have an extended layover at DFW, I recommend this joint.
Easy exit if you have to run to your gate. -

I stopped here on a business trip recently with a colleague and had dinner prior to our flight. I cannot recall exactly why we chose this place--I would like to think because my colleague was Irish, but in reality because we were both dead tired and it was the closest restaurant to our gate.
I ordered the fish and chips and my colleague had the bangers and mash. Well, it tasted like fish and chips from any other diner that I had tried it at. Very average, to be honest. The bangers and mash looked a little greasy for my liking, so I did not bother sampling it (not to say my dish was healthy or anything...).
With such average experience, I wish I had something healthier elsewhere. Combined with above average prices, long food wait time and mediocre service, I can only give it two stars. Sorry fans (btw--I am no high end food connoisseur.. but if you gave this place anything greater than 3 stars, you really should try some other places). -

I'm a Beer fan. No, beer FANATIC. I was able to visit Ireland 2 different times, once the Shannon/west side and once to Dublin, including the tour of the Jameson distillery and the Guinness Brewery. Although fresh Guinness was pretty good, typically Guinness is too heavy and too coffee-flavored for me. So while in Ireland, I discovered Smithwick's, a perfect not -too- heavy, not-too-light Irish ale. - pronounced "smith-icks" by the Irish. Although you can find it bottled with some regularity, a perfect poured draft Smithwick's is hard to beat.
So when I find myself killing time and in terminal D, I consider it a good omen, and go relax for a few minutes at Tigin with that Smithwicks. Give it a try! -

If your lucky enough to be Irish, your lucky enough! Otherwise, you might be lucky enough to have a layover in Dallas TX. I stumbled on this place during my layover, and it was like a little gift from heaven!
Seriously I'd be lucky to find an Irish pub like this in a city, let alone an airport terminal.
Guinness on tap, full bar, traditional irish food, traditional decor! Even had courtyard seating area inside the terminal.
To go with my pint of Guinness, I had the the Corned Beef and Cabbage Boxty - It looked sort of like a crepe, but was much tastier...
Corned beef, buttered cabbage, and a creamy mustard sauce wrapped in a potato boxty. Served with vegetables!
Looks like they have a few of these places outside the airport, next time I'm in one of those city's I'll definitely be seeking them out!~Listed in: Seriously, I'd book a flight…

One of the best pints of Guinness I've had on this side of the pond from St. James' Gate. Seriously, it's that good. Yes, I know the little place down the street from your apartment. Yes, the one with the Irish bartender. Its as good as that place, believe me. Plus, what better do you have to do in DFW, buy a cell phone from a vending booth? C'mon.
One warning, I went off the Irish menu once to just get some wings...bad call...stick with the Irish food. -

I love an Irish Pub anytime, but make them available to me in an airport during a layover? Priceless.
Our drinks and food were fine (I got Fish & Chips--I'd say a 85% of awesome! and add a Smithwick's beer, yum). Our server was great for us, but we were sitting way too close to the bar and overheard some douchey conversation between our server Scott H and the manager about another customer and some spat. Granted, the place was busy, but it's a damn airport. Handle your stuff and don't talk trash about other customers--ever. You Mr Manager on 2/9/2010 around 5:30pm should be fired for not only not stopping it, but engaging in it with your server.
I judge an Irish Pub based on the Fish & Chips. PASSED! But I hope they read this and learn a little lesson about blowing off steam properly. Srsly...
P.S. It's IN DFW Airport, so only travelers can go.
(and I was a server for a while in my past--loved the job, loved the pressure, and only once had an issue with a customer that I made public--but they apologized and left me a $40 tip for being thoughtless. My point is--I've been there, but be smart when letting off steam.) -

No this my friend is NOT airport food! It just so happens to be in an airport. If you are using Terminal D then you are a lucky flier as this is the best restaurant I have found in any airport in Texas.
I ended up eating here so many times in a row when using American Airlines from Dallas to where-ever that the staff actually started to remember me and what I drank. Not only is there an excellent variety of anything you may want to drink, including fresh cold draft beers, the food is pretty much fantastic.
This reminds me of a (R.I.P.) Bennigan's. The fish and chips are excellent, nachos are just great, everything I have tried I have been very happy with.
If you take note, all the pilots are eating here, if not sit down but with take out orders. The staff even appears to know all the pilots by name and what they order. That should tell you something.
Best place to eat in the Dallas Love Airport and I'll back all of the other reviews with 5 stars for a rare airport find. -

I spend an inordinate amount of time in airports as I travel a lot for my job, so I always appreciate a decent concourse eatery rather than subsisting on gummi snacks, trail mix, and PowerAde from Hudson News. Also, when I got to Tigin I was already springloaded on pissed-off because I'd just found out that my flight had been delayed for three hours, which meant I wouldn't get home until 2am.
Fortunately, Tigin serves Strongbow Cider and Irish coffee, and they do have delicious boxties unless you are a slug or some other assorted mucousy invertebrate, in which case all your internal organs would shrivel up due to the amount of salt in said boxty. Oh, and they have Lucozade and Shandy, as well, for those of you in the know.
So, Tigin's, please take a lighter hand on the Morton's, and then you will officially be my peaceful island in the middle of the screaming hell that is DFW. -

While I waited for my flight to Miami, I decided to embrace the moment and make my way to the Irish Pub inside the airport, because there was no way, I was going to eat anything Mexican at 9pm. The menu was just not my style so I decided to do the next best thing, and just drink my first Guinness on tap. The service was nice even for an airport, the company wasn't that bad at all seeing that I was surrounded by military personals and a bunch of Texans wearing cowboy hats and boots (no joke) don't know if they were coming or going, but that was the attire. After a nice few conversations loaded with a whole lot of accents I decided to take my cup of happy and finish watching the Pacers Vs. The Bulls game at Terminal D. This is definitely a nice place to layover if you ever have one. Now, If you see Stacy, tell her I say hi.

For an airport bar I was pretty impressed. Great burger (didn't have the Irish breakfast but who knows if they could have nailed it), slew of great bartenders, well poured Guinness and a bevy of flat screens.
Equally impressed by the highly inebriated Cowboy's fans and their surprisingly poignant and well-reasoned exchange on why Troy Aikman (QB) was probably gay and why Tony Romo (QB) is definitely gay.
Not to mention how much we all miss the good-ol' days when our teams were bitter rivals AND didn't completely suck. -

this is a great place to sit and chill and grab a bite and a drink before your flight.. their fish and chips are decent.. and they have great beers on tap.. definitely beats other places at DFW

I like to have a couple of cocktails before I board a flight because I am a nervous flyer and I want to make sure I sleep the entire way to my location or at least be relaxed! This generally only poses a problem in those morning hours when drinking is sometimes frowned upon (by others, not by me!). I went to Mexico and my flight was at 10am so I arrived at the airport at 8am. Not only was Tigin serving up some booze, there were a LOT of other people drinking at 8am also. FUN! Bartenders were super friendly...I gave one my Maxim magazine when I finished it and he comped my Bailey's and coffee just because! It is at gate D20...pray your flight leaves out of a nearby gate!!

I had lunch on March 8th during a very long layover at DFW. The Boxty is a wonderful, filling dish. My server, Kevin Bresee, was very personable and actually took time to converse about the dish and just things in general. Most servers in airport restaurants are detached and cold--perhaps the in- and-out of all the travelers numbs them to the human connection after a while.

A wonderful departure from the typical airport meals. A very relaxing atmosphere in a very busy airport (DFW D Terminal). I had a turkey club and a pint of the dark stuff, great preparation for another leg on my flight plans for the day.

I'll be hard pressed to find an Irish restaurant in S.F. that makes a steak boxti like these guys. Great cuts of beef, cooked in a rich wine sauce and wrapped in potato pancake; too good. Harp and Guinness are on tap (of course) and the waitstaff do their best, given that this place is always packed with hurried travelers. The decor is very authentic. Although this place is located inside Terminal D of the Dallas International Airport, it's still built like a street-side pub and even has a patio. If you're flying to Dallas, a word of advice: Fly American Airlines, and if you have the time be sure to visit Tigin Irish Pub.

You must be kidding, peoples. The corned beef sandwich was on bread that tasted like packaged, was topped not with mustard but mayo and pickles, and the meat was flavorless. And all for $12 to boot. Awful.
