Yum yum yum yum yum yum yum yum yum....Theo's was delicious. My server was really friendly attentive but not intrusive at all. She had great tips for discovering Penticton and Naramata which was an added bonus.
The food was fantastic. The calamari was very tender, flash friend and not greasy at all. The tzatziki was very fresh, full of crispy cucumber. and cool creamy yoghurt. I had the roasted lamb shoulder as my main. I have to say it was the size of my head (see photo)! And only $19. The lamb was marinated in was a greek mustard sauce - lots of tang and flavor. The rice was delicious as were the roasted vegetables. The only thing that was lacking were the greek potatoes - they just chucked a bland roasted potato on the plate. Not a big deal since there was so much food but there's something about greek potatoes that's magical.. I also would have preferred a greek salad to the roast veggies - I would do that next time.
Overall the food is delicious, the service friendly - a place that feels like home. -

If you want to see the story of Theo's Restaurant and see the menu then head to their website http://www.eatsquid.com
Great name for their website. LOL
Anyway, this restaurant is such a lovely find. You step off the side walk and enter a beautiful Mediterranean home. Terra cotta tile floors, white washed walls, exposed timber frame, a 2 story central area, plants growing everywhere, homey pictures on the walls and a gentleman host (2nd generation .)
The food is outstanding Greek specialties. I love that they make Greek food but don't throw in a few Italian or Lebanese recipes to 'round out the whole Mediterranean theme.' This is Greek through and through.
I am a huge fan of lamb so I always convince my husband (easily) that we have to come back for dinner a few times in a row so that I can have the lamb, then the moussaka , then the seafood....
I have always had excellent service, we never feel rushed and we feel like family with the owner and his great staff.
Save room for coffee and desserts. -

My go to place when we are in Penticton. Yummy Yummy food. A great level of community engagement (last time there was great elementary school artwork on the walls). Consistently great food. The service is not super fast, but I feel like with the ambience there it's an experience to be savoured. When I was a kid living in the area we would go with my parents and it was a multi-hour experience and exciting to have a big variety of appies, and our meal, and our dessert (now that I'm an adult add to that great wine). The only downside was that there wasn't really anywhere to diaper change except for a vacant booth. But that wasn't an inconvenience as there was one kicking around anyways.

The problem with being first to review is not having the benefit of other yelpers' advice! I came here based on Frommers and TripAdvisor reviews since there's not much yelping in Penticton.
My expectations were really high with the Okanagan dining awards in the entryway and the great reviews on TripAdvisor. It was OK but didn't live up to these expectations.
Service was very nice and friendly. Large restaurant that is decorated in traditional Greek style with wood tables, lots of white walls and green plants. Lots of traditional Greek options to choose from... I picked the lamb souvlaki ($18.95) and had the baclava ($6) for dessert. Complimentary bread service with oil and vinegar to start.
I don't get all the awards... it wasn't really that mind blowing. If anything, the meat was actually quite tough and wasn't that well-trimmed. I left about half of my meat untouched. The sides that came with it were great though - loved the roasted potato, grilled veggies and rice. I picked the baclava at the suggestion of my server - nice portion for the price but again it was only so-so. Bit too syrupy with not enough texture for my liking.
Maybe it's the best Greek that Penticton has to offer and that's why it's got the rave reviews, but it's skippable for me. -

Walking into Theo's is like entering a mature garden or a virgin forest, except there's the comfort smells of a mediterranean diet - roast lamb, calamari, fresh pita bread - all swirled together in a painting of rich aromas and textures.
Operating for the past 33 years, you get the feeling that this place is a part of Penticton history; being out of season, it was hopping with locals of every age. We settled into a delicious bottle of local Naramata Pinot Noir and sampled several appetizers before being joined by the owner Nikos, who eased into our conversations like an old friend.
The food was so amazing that we went back 2 nights later for a full dinner and treated ourselves to slow-roasted lamb that was cooked and spiced to perfection. Finished the meal off with some locally made grappa from Okanagan Spirits (Vernon, BC) and chatted with local filmmaker Sandy Wilson (My American Cousin)... quite the hot spot and a must-visit for anybody visiting Penticton. -

I thought I was dreaming that I was dining in a greek taverna with the vines hanging down around us water trickling, and the huge fireplace... This is a little heaven in the middle of town.. I had the rack of lamb it was huge and wonderfully tasty. But back to the ambiance, the floors are terra cotta tiles, brick and white walls everywhere, inside courts yard with upper balconies and large dinning rooms and outdoor patios... probably the most popular restaurant in town..

Theo's is.....just ok. I have been here a few times, and each time the dinner was ok, but that's it. The service is great and the people are friendly, but the food is only mediocre. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of great restaurants in Penticton, so comparatively, Theo's is one of the better ones.
