The Yale brings in some amazing Blues acts, so for anyone who appreciates the Blues, this is where its at. Definitely an older crowd here - there's bound to be some bikers, musicians, and people looking to escape the trashy club scene on Granville Street. Extremely unpretentious but not cheap.
Where else can you find a 50 year old woman in a leather jacket & chaps, head banging her frizzy bleached blonde ponytail for an entire song? One thing's for sure, the Yale patrons never forget how to rock out. -

Perfect for the 35+ crowd or real blues band fans.
This place is packed, usually two bands performing at night. Good music, great vibes in the crowd, you just need to time when you get your drinks. During some crowd waves, it's like a stock market boiler room, and other times, it's normal.
Beware the metal detector, pool sharks and having people physically rub by you every few seconds. Beers are $7-8, cover $10+. -

You might spot your dad here, if he's the kinda guy who likes to wear fedoras and plain leather jackets over a stevie ray vaugn shirt. It's a dark bar with some pool tables and over priced draft beer.
Conveniently, the Yale is located close enough to the Granville bridge that you can jump to the sight of people people dancing to the tasteless blues revivalism inside. They have a bar band every Sunday that they expect you to pay. They have a lot of fedoras. And ponytails.
Maybe I'm too young to find this place acceptable. Maybe I just don't really "get" revivalist blues. Maybe i should stop coming to laugh at the awkward dancing. You decide. -

As a Chicago native, this is a pretty damn authentic Blues bar. The decor, music and ambiance are exactly what you'd find in an iconic Blues venue. The act I saw was great and the sound quality was clear as crystal. There was no smoke smell and the place was clean and well lit. There place was classy but not at all stuffy or elitist. There's a couple of pool tables a small bar area and a decent amount of tables. The worst thing about coming here is the cost of drinks. Draft pints were $7. Parking should be easily found nearby.
