Fish and chips. That's about it. Don't come here if you don't like deep fried fish... or chips.
I stopped in here for the first time tonight with a hankering for some battered, fried fish, and that's exactly what I got: two beautiful pieces of halibut, slightly over-battered, decent fries, good slaw and tartar sauce, all for $12. The daily special is $9. Pints for $5, with a daily special for $3.50. You can't beat those prices.
The price was right, but my stomach wasn't feeling so hot after I left. The decor is stuck in a time warp, and the server wasn't very attentive. I might come back in a few months, but I'll stick to single piece of fish.
I'm surprised the Main St. hipsters haven't caught on to the Windjammer: cheap food, beer, and indifferent service. -

Fresh tasty cold slaw, slightly glutenous but very cheesy poutine, a slab of deep fried cod with sauce, and a raven cream ale for $9.50 ! Now that's a lunch special.
Good service and plenty of space. Pop in if your hate your arteries and love a deal. -

Revisited this lovely establishment several times since the first review. It is consistently great. The Windjammer has converted my son from a fish hater to a fish lover!!!! I'm shocked.
Cod is great. Halibut is great too!
They do a lovely chicken tikka masala on basmati rice. Yum.
We do like trying new restaurants and sometimes (like last night) when you can't find the new place you want to try, it's so wonderful to have a favourite place that you KNOW is going to provide delicious food and warm, friendly service.

Halibut was great!
One of the best fish and chips ever. -

I have walked by this place a ton of times but never ever thought to go till today.. since i was hungover and had a hankering for deep fried goodness. It definitely fit the bill.
$6 for one piece cod and chips, and they actually gave me 2 pieces of fish.. which i couldn't finish. Fish was good, batter was alright, the coleslaw could use some more flavor.
The restaurant does remind of me of authentic British Fish n chips places. Even the people in the restaurant seemed to all have british accents.
It's a good deal and i would go back. It's a 3 star A-Ok! -

I walked off Main Street and straight into a dark and atmospheric pub of the kind until recently common in many small seaside towns in England, but which have probably now been transformed into soulless gastro-pub experiences. I could have been in Lynton, Seahouses, Newhaven or Southwold.
The fish and chips they serve up is pretty sound quality. My sons and I all had cod & chips which was a great deal for $10. The chips weren't quite authentic british style, but the fish was very tasty and cooked just right. But the real joy was the mushy peas, which preserved the spirit of the true Geordie guacamole whilst offering a slightly lighter touch and a subtlety of flavour that was, to say the least, welcome and unexpected.
A real hit with my 6-year old were the onion rings. In his own words: They're great because they don't have much onion in them.
Along with the nautical theme, the interior is also decorated with old photos of old English pubs. I was tickled to realise that I had chosen a table right next to a photo of the Axe & Compass in Hemingford Abbots, an old haunt of mine in younger days, and the site of a memorable Christmas lunch on a visit to the UK a year or two ago.
It's taken me a few years of walking and driving past to actually go in to this place. It won't be long before I'm back! -

Mediocre but very cheap fish and chips. Price is hard to disagree with ($10 for two pieces of halibut) but the fish was too large, flaky and unappetizing - felt like it's been frozen for years. Found a maggot in a sandwich too. I'd probably rather have the F&C at a chain restaurant than here.

Now I must admit that I've only ever eaten the one dish at this cosy seafood restaurant, that being their Halibut meal. I can't go past it because it's so delicious. Beer batter, flaky fish is crispy on the outside and melts in your mouth. I also enjoy the ambience at Windjammer. The staff are friendly and the interior is decorated in a sailor theme with wooden tables and chairs to match. It's only a small restaurant, which adds to the cosy and homey feel but there's never a wait, which I find a bit odd considering how much I enjoy this place. The prices are very reasonable and they often offer specials on both food as well as beverages.

Solid fish and chippy, right in my neighbourhood. Reasonably priced, fish is fresh and often seasonal and they sometimes hire Brit servers for authenticity.
