I came here after going to a movie with a couple of co-workers and a friend.  I like that this place has 2 floors, and a patio.  The place was cleaned, and the servers were really quick to bring our drinks.
I unfortunately cannot comment on the food, because we simply came to have a few drinks - but when I do taste the food, I will update :)
I really liked the feel of this place.  And I also liked that it's in such a quiet area.

    I would absolutely come back!

Tucked away from the pretense of Yaletown and the college kids/yoga moms of Kits is the Wicklow Public House.  Found in a quiet slice of False Creek, this pub - with its expansive harbour views - is the perfect place to take in a meal.

Last night, on another gorgeous Vancouver evening, my guy and I found ourselves perched on the Wick's patio.  We each noshed on burgers (he the lamb, me the Santa Fe chicken) and a few drinks.  The Wick had a low key crowd, helpful and friendly servers and tasty, reliable food.

Our bill was around $45 for two burger platters and three beverages (including one of the best tequila Caesars I've tried in a long time).  We'll definitely be back!  I'm hoping to try their Eggs Benny for brunch next time...

What is it about sitting on a patio facing the water that is so calming?

The food here wasn't the most amazing food I've ever tasted and the decor is a little dull, but the prices for drinks is what keeps me coming back.  They are also dog friendly which is a huge plus!

Husband on my left, dog on my right, beer in my hand, facing the water... I'm happy.

We've been here many times for an after tennis, get a drink and munch on an appy type place.

The best thing about this place is the outdoor patio upstairs overlooking the boats on False Creek.

The next best thing about this place is the yam fries.

Other than that...you have an attempt at a more upscale version of pub food that falls short and an attempt at a wide selection of beers that falls short.

But, if you want a casual, sunny, beautiful patio to have drinks in while filling up on yam fries, you'll be experiencing a little slice of heaven (the drinking helps=).

Such a great location. Capturing as much of the Vancouver sun as humanly possible, I settled in with gal pals on the patio for an afternoon of chit chat.

Perhaps I've become spoiled with all of the amazing micro-breweries around, and the ability to buy so many amazing brews from local bottle shops, but I have been fantasizing for ages on ordering up an inspired pint here and chilling with the view. Alas, the mainstream beer lineup on tap left me lustful for something more. (I say as I crack open an Abita Strawberry Brew and write this review!)

With my friends wanting to munch - we tucked into some standard patio fare: nachos and hot wings. The nachos were smaller in portion than what you'd normally see at a pub and they lacked sour cream (my fave!), but the deep fried jalapenos added something special. (I'd love to see those jalapenos as a dish on their own... could be delectable on a mezze plate with olives, hummus etc.) The guacamole weighed in at a hefty $4 price point, but, on the other hand, it was the guac that made the nach, so perhaps I shouldn't mention price!

I'd easily head back again... that patio is just too picturesque to not take advantage of!

We had a free day while in Vancouver for the Olympics, and spent the unseasonably warm afternoon strolling around the False Creek/Granville Island area.  Having wasted the morning trekking down to Richmond to check out the "O Zone," we were all a bit famished and more than a bit thirsty when we stopped in at the Wicklow.

The patio was packed so we opted for a window seat inside where we could also watch the games on one of the many TVs scattered throughout.  Our waitress, Kelly, said she'd let us know if a table opened up outside, and by the time we placed our drink orders she had already reserved a patio table for us whenever we were ready to move.

The food was what I'd say was typical higher-end northwest pub fare: burgers, salads, soups and miscellaneous sandwiches.  I had the Great Canadian Burger (an Olympics special): bacon, cheddar, and fries with gravy.  The beer selection was a little on the lean side, but did offer a little something for everyone, including Strongbow cider on tap.

All things being equal, and taking the sun out of the equation (they could hardly take credit for that), I'd say it was a solid three, maybe a three and a half star experience.  However, the service we received from Kelly was absolutely top notch: she was exceptionally personable and accommodating, which really elevated it to a four star experience.  She mentioned that she was just helping out during the Olympics, but if she was any indication of what the general service is like, it will go a long way towards alleviating any other potential shortcomings the Wicklow might be hiding.

Sunshine shining in on a sunshiny February day. Eating some pub fare and sipping a beer. A view of the docks, the water, the boats. What's better sometimes than just that?

The vegetarian cheeseburger had real mozza and all the fixin's. A very filling meal indeed, and I was starving!!!

Take me back on another day like that and I won't be able to refuse to have the same.

I grew-up in False Creek and really want to give The Wicklow a positive review, for sentimental reasons. I was a regular at The Wicklow's predecessor, Stamps Landing, which was borne of local Expo 86 development within South False Creek. Stamps Landing went out of business about two years ago and, sadly, I will never be a regular at this recent incarnation.

Everyone mentions how wonderful the view is from The Wicklow's west-facing window seats and patio, but few mention that the cheapest pint at this "pub" is $6.00. I have also spoken to many individuals who defend the food quality at this bar, but the entrees at The Wicklow are more expensive and of lesser quality than choice selections that you can find on Main Street, or even Broadway.

I have patronized The Wicklow between 7-10 times, and I will never be back after the experience I had tonight. The music was obnoxious, the place was filled with macho muscleheads who were ensconced for UFC 118, the service was brusque, and those $6.00 Rickard's left a bad taste in my mouth. If you are looking for a local pub with outstanding views, I would recommend that you mosey down to the Backstage Lounge on Granville Island.

Tucked away in False Creek, the Wick plays second fiddle only to the Wick in Tofino (check it out if you don't know what I'm talking about).

Service here is always friendly, there is a shocking amount of parking close by and you can't beat the views of false creek.

Still, as a nacho-connaisseur I do feel compelled to point out that the size of the nacho plate should NEVER be dwarfed by the guac, sour cream and salsa side plate.

Other than that, highly recommended. Respect it!

I liked it, the yam fries were yum!  Interesting setup, interesting crowd... I think I'm going to have to go back and really see for myself on a hockey night.

It was called Stamps Landing for decades and was the pub of choice for the non club sailors in town. Now it's more upscale and has a bigger and better deck, the view is what it's about and the beer or their fairly good wine list. Deck food a sunny evening and Vancouver need there be more in life? I wonder where the non club sailors now hang out?

The food is just ok, I've eaten there twice, enjoyed it the first time, not so much the second time, I've recommended it to friends for drinks, but I must say that some of their staff is surprisingly rude. I was there this morning and was not impressed. This place is off my recommendations list.
