This is a really high quality area. People are friendly, and the place is very clean. The Skiing is fantastic, so the resort is a great place to hang out. You can even go swimming, whether or not it rains or even snows. A lot of cool shops in the Village...
All around great experience for a getaway. -

You can't beat the location. They are a 2 minute walk to the slopes and they've even got a tent next to the lift to collect your skiis/board so you don't have to carry them after a long day. Overall my stay was fine, but I do have a few notable gripes...
1. The concierge lined up my ski rental, the rental shop chosen was in the hotel and was awful.
2. Internet was crap. The connection went in and out all week, they tried to charge us for the service, but I successfully got it taken off the bill. Sad I had to even ask.
3. It's pricey for what you get... my room was technically a suite, but the only other suite I've had that small was in NYC.
I still had a good time in Whistler and it remains my favorite ski resort. -

Location gives this place a 4star. Came in the spring and could have skiied, but golfed instead. Spent a 10 days hanging in Whistler, shopping, eating, biking. The room was spacious with a great veiw. We would watch a bear and her cubs frolick under the chairlift, which was 100 yard from our window, nature at its best. Too many restaurants in the valley to remember, but all must have been really good, no complaints.

Pros: Close to gondola, shops, restaurants. Staff was friendly all around. Clean facility and rooms, dog friendly
Cons: Nickels and dimes, wifi costs $15/day; outgoing costs at least $1.75; views from the rooms are subpar even if you've paid the extra to get the "mountain view,"
Stay here for the convenient location and friendly service. Do not pay extra for what may appear on the website as a better-view room, because they all suck. The one bedroom suite is very spacious, comes with fridge, microwave and dishwasher. Shower stall is tiny, but bathroom is spacious.
Next time I am in Whistler I will give Pan Pacific a try, they are in the same vicinity. -

Fab location in the Whistler Village... easy access to the shops and restos and just steps from the gondola for skiing.
Had a great weekend here - smooth check-in and out and service was helpful throughout the stay. The rooms are typical of a nicer hotel chain but I do like the suite style here - there's a full kitchenette with a dishwasher and oven if you feel like doing some serious cooking!
The room itself is good. I like the Westin beds but I wish they had different pillow choices. These are REALLY fluffy and not firm so it's hard to get used to. Bathrooms are great but shower stall is a little small.
The gym has great equipment and is clean - it wasn't very busy when I was there so you have your choice of machines. The pools get busier in the evening... they're quite small in my opinion, but I like the option for indoor and outdoor pools here.
Solid place to stay. We only had a minor issue with a food biill credit and the manager took care of that promptly. Would definitely come back! -

We stayed here for five days over the New Years week of 2010.
The Westin in Whistler is rustic, beautiful and staffed by some of the friendliest people you could find.
This trip had an interesting twist since due to a guest error, the sprinkler system went off one morning leaving our room under some dripping water.
Not normal for the Westin, but it was handled beautifully. We were moved to a new room and given two complimentary breakfast buffets and a voucher for our night. Very appreciated and the service staff was all quite gracious about what in the end amounted to a small inconvenience.
Oh, also, I have a dog I took with me and she got her own Westin Heavenly Dog bed. The staff always had cookies for her and she was treated like a VIP.
We will always go back to the Westin, we love it. -

5: Check in went very, very well. Bell staff/valet were Johnny-on-the spot dudes. Thanks!
5: Hotel complimented us with at least 1 night of free underground parking. Thank you Westin! Currently, overnight, underground rates are 29.00 CDN.
5: Most, if not all rooms, include very well stocked/appointed kitchenettes: perfect for your decision to breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night in-room options as opposed to dining anywhere in the Village. Most rooms also include gas fireplaces: very, very nice touch to keep cozy. AND - ask for a balcony room whenever possible. We didn't ask but we got same!
5: Views are great - forest or eastward towards the lifts, westward toward the Village. Ask for a room with a balcony or direct access to the forest areas. FAB.
4: Bathrooms are small but clean and well appointed. Ample towels, good shower water pressure and nice soaps and other toiletries. -

The hotel itself is clean and the service is very friendly which seems to be the thing in Whistler... Everyone is so nice! There is a gym/pool/hot tub as well as a spa on the second floor that comes in handy after long days in the snow. Location wise it's also extremely convenient as it is just steps away from the ski school and gondola.
In terms of comparison, this probably wasn't my favorite Westin I've stayed at. The rooms feel cramped and the designs are a little strange. The kitchenette is at the edge of the beds and I imagine if you were actually doing any cooking, it would be difficult to maneuver around not to mention it would smell up the whole room. There aren't any washing machines in the rooms but there are facilities on each floor and the washer and dryer each cost $2 Canadian. The Wi-Fi was down for almost an entire day while we were there and seeing how I had paid the $14.99/day charge to access it, I wasn't too happy although they did give me an extra free day to compensate. You aren't allowed to bring your skis or boards up to the room and you have to leave them with the ski valet which is $6/day.
I'd give them extra points for their service and the location but the sur-charges for everything are a bit of a turn off so I would say 3 stars.

The rooms are cool because they are little mini-suites. You basically have a full kitchen, a living room, bedroom and nice bathroom with a shower and a nice, big tub.
However, the bed kind of sucks. Which is weird, because aren't the Westin beds supposed to be awesome, can't you buy them for your own house?Listed in: Van-coooo-ver, EH?

I stayed here for a conference and thought it was just fine. I had a junior suite with a forest view. The room was a really large loft, with the bed upstairs and a kitchenette and living room downstairs. The living room furniture was a bit shabby but it had a fireplace, which I rather liked. They're in the process of replacing all their furniture in preparation for the Olympics, but apparently hadn't made it to my room yet. This may explain the price of the room, because considering the brand and the location, I got a super deal at $130 a night.
Unlike other reviewers, I actually liked the bed. In fact, I really liked it. I haven't slept so well in a very long time.
The hotel's location is ideal as it's less than a five minute walk to the gondolas and the "village" (more like a large outdoor shopping mall, actually) sort of ends at the Westin. It's an excellent place from which to explore Whistler.
The bads (semi not-goods) -
First, their wi-fi connection sucks and there is no direct ethernet connection available in the room. They also nominally charge for internet access, which is deeply and profoundly retarded in this day and age. By charge, I mean an arm and a leg. It was like $5 CAD for 15 minutes of access. Fortunately, the front desk agent waived my internet charge without me even having to ask. She seemed kind of embarrassed by the fact that Westin looks like it's trying to extract as much money as possible from it's guests.
Second, there is no overnight public parking in Whistler and the hotel charges like $25 CAD for parking per day. I was at the hotel for three nights, checking in around 9:00 PM on my first night, and they tried to charge me for four full days of parking. I was prepared to battle it out with the front desk clerk, but he reduced my parking charges with no questions asked. Their customer service is really awesome.
Third, I set a wake up call with the front desk and they completely forgot about it.
Fourth, after the first day, the maid refused to replace the complimentary soaps, shampoos, and conditioners. I've stayed at Motel 6's that were less stingy with these amenities.
Overall, however, I had a fine time at the Westin and I would totally stay here again. -

I've stayed here twice in the summertime, and both times it was great. The location is awesome, steps away from all the action but actually very quiet at night. Depending which way your room faces, you can get a great view of the gondolas going past.
Some other reviews say the beds aren't comfortable, but I couldn't disagree more! Their beds are some of the best hotel beds I've ever slept in.
Their pool is good though a bit small, and their gym has plenty of high end equipment too. The service here has always been exceptional, we'll definitely be going back! -

I came in the summer for my SO's company function and it was HOT, like 100 degrees F. The pool is too small for all the heat but who would have thought the pool was going to be that necessary?
Our room was a suite but as Kristen M. said in her review, the bed sucked.
It is conveniently located to the ski lifts, bars and restaurants. -

This resort is rather conveniently located. Just a few steps away from the gondolas. You can't get any closer. We were there for the XMAS break holiday 2008. While we only got the 1 bedroom forest view, it was still manageable. I liked how we can walk to village everywhere. The outdoor jacuzzi, however, is a bit small. Most of the times a group of people already occupied it so it felt uncomfortable to join in.
Other than that, I think the resort itself is great mainly because of the amenities and convenience -

Checked in last night. 3 hour process to get the mountain view room I paid extra for. Never got it. They have a very expansive view of what "mountain view" means when you are at whistler mountain (hint: it does not include a view of whistler mountain). A manager was supposed to call me at 8am today. It's now 5pm, with no call. Later, I will comment on their a la carte policy...just plan on an extra charge for virtually anything you can imagine, except for towels.
A very nice and apologetic manager did call, albeit 2 days late, and remedied the situation. I think a lot of the hotel's problem is a lack of the communication you expect at a 4 or 5 star hotel. it would have been nice to get basic information on check-in or from the bell man, like how to access the ski school, the availability of a breakfast buffet, or the ski storage policy (there is a $6 a day per set of skis charge for valet, but no one seems to know that the charge is waived if you rent at the hotel).
The hotel is nice, it was just too bad we got an immediate bad vibe by the "mountain view" up charge, coupled with a staff that had no power to do anything, even offer us a drink. As it turns out, even though the view we had was not of the ski mountain, it was a perfectly fine view. It was just so,d poorly.1 Previous Review: Show all »

A solid place to stay when skiing Whistler/Blackcomb. You are paying for convenience - a few steps from the gondola, easy ski valet, village proximity. The kitchenettes are convenient and fully equipped with a microwave, stovetop, kettle and an oven - you know, if you want to bake a pie!? The furniture is OK but again, it's a ski resort so the expectations are low when you are tracking in snow and slush. Highlights include a very powerful shower, a fireplace and comfortable bed. You can walk everywhere. Staff are helpful and friendly and the pool/jacuzzi is great if you can beat the rush hour.

Stayed for 3 nights. Great access to the village. Room and bed were great. Only real complaints were that 35/night to park and the pool is only open untill 10pm which is a little early in my opinion. One thing, DO NOT buy the internet access. Was like $30 for 3 days. It never really worked and when it did. It was very, very slow. Definately not worth it. I have had better free service from McDonalds.

We spent 5 days and 4 nights in the Westin in Whistler, and a lot of it was in the hotel and the hotel room itself. My wife and I travel a lot. We've literally seen every area of California, some Oregon, Washington and Arizona, so we have seen lots of hotels/motels. This was (we agreed) the best hotel we have ever stayed at in terms of the room. It isn't even a room, more like a small apartment. We had the junior suite with the mountain view and a balcony. You felt like you were in an apartment. You have a dishwasher, oven/stove, refridgerator and microwave. A coffee machine too, with complimentary starbucks coffee which was actually really really good. You also get two flat screen, large (not sure of the size) t.v.s, one in the living room and one in your bedroom. The room was spectacular, and so was the view and balcony. Every night ended (or started) with a few drinks on the balcony, talking and soaking up the mountains. We watched a beautiful sunset as well. The hotel was cool too. Located in the Village, but tucked away at the end so you don't have partiers below your window. It is also a step out the door to the Whistler Gondola and the Peak2Peak. It has a lounge and a restaurant too. The lounge is pretty cool. Nice people. Never ate at the restaurant though, seemed good though. Here is the one thing though, the internet. They have internet and computers, but charge you 59 cents per minute. A little outrageous, but I HAD to use them daily. They also have a pre-authorized charge everytime, and the pre-authorized charges are supposed to go away from your bank account after you sign off, but its been 4 days now and they are still there. Either way, this is an awesome hotel. You get mountain views, quiet, lots of amenities. Oh and their pool is awesome. It is heated, and they have two hot tubs and a steam room which is very relaxing. Great hotel!
