This is a somewhat dated hotel but the rooms have been modernized. They are quite comfortable. The location was perfect - midway between the airport and where I was working. The staff was wonderful. Breakfast buffet was more than adequate. The Japanese restaurant was crazy expensive and the fish wasn't fresh (did separate review).

They charge for parking and WIFi, which is a pet peeve given the hotel rate. I have more trips to Toronto upcoming and this will likely be my home away from home!

Of the two Westins in Toronto, this is my preferred spot.  I've stayed here twice and while it's outside of the downtown core, this location is quieter.  I'm a curmudgeon so I like feeling like I'm in a quiet area.  I stayed here a few months ago but my memory is already failing me.....parking was ~$15.

I can't really recommend a floor.  The view is of city buildings in every direction.

Plus it's near the suburban Koreatown area of Toronto so I like the proximity of yummy restaurants too (there is a smaller downtown K-town too).  Across the street is a large Korean grocery store (Galleria) if you are itching to stock up on food items or eat at their impressive food court.

I'll be honest for a moment: I haven't had the opportunity to visit The Westin Prince hotel in years now. However, my family used to make it a habit throughout the 90's and early 00's. We used to stay here once or twice a year, and that went on for a good eight years or so. We stopped visiting as my sister and I grew up.

I miss it. A lot. Every memory I have associated with The Westin Prince is a fond one. While I haven't had the opportunity to see their new renovations, the building always seemed modern, polished and clean. Some of my fondest memories include eating buffet breakfasts at the Seasons restaurant (always delicious and complemented well by friendly staff), swimming in the outdoor pool (beautiful!), playing in their "activity center" with my younger sister, and lounging in the hotel room with my family. The last couple of times we visited, it seemed that the once-playroom-esque "activity center" had been almost entirely converted to a gym, which, as a child, was disappointing, but now, as an adult, seems great!

It may seem childish, but my 24th birthday is coming up in September, and the only present I wish to receive is a trip to The Westin Prince. I want nothing more than to relive my childhood in one of the best ways possible: by visiting this heart-warming, family-oriented hotel.

    Check-in.

There was only one person at the check-in counter and it was actually brisk, efficient, and impersonal; A total of 10 minutes.

    Room 1007.

I had a feeling that because I was staying for one night, I was going to get a room near the elevator. I wish I had that kind of intuition for lottery numbers because lo-and-behold, my room was 4 steps away from the elevator. However, when I opened the door, I was pleasantly surprised at how big and spacious the room was. And the view...the view was amazing. My room was overlooking the David Duncan house and all the trees with their orange and yellow leaves.

No smell so clean. Comfortable large bed, sitting chair, and a nice feature for all the light fixtures are the dangling switches (easy to find and turn on...just pull up or down). I hate having to find that little knob to turn on the lights...details matter.

Amenities include mini-bar, coffee-machine, ONE bathrobe, ironing board and paper and pen and a large flat screen tv. Once again, no slippers (which is something I always forget).

The bathroom was small but clean, and if you have ever been to a Westin hotel, the showers are heavenly. They have two, big, moveable shower heads (as part of their bathroom-spa design) which makes such a big difference. The water pressure is fantastic so if you are ever here for a conference or if you have had a long and hard day, jump in the shower and you will feel great afterwards. Bath products are the Westin's own Spa brand but it smells very nice, like Bulgari's White Tea perfume.

The hair-dryer is a stand alone and it's a professional Con-air. I have to say that this Westin's bathroom is great. I was getting ready for a wedding reception and this bathroom had everything a girl would need to get dolled-up.

Noise Level. NOISY! Since room 1007 was right in front of the elevator, I heard people coming in and out, room service peeps, luggage people, and banging doors. If this is an issue for you (I was only here one night), then do not get this room or other rooms close to 1007.

    Extras.

There is a small convenience store beside the elevators, but if you drive, there is a Longo's and Shoppers Drug Mart 2 minutes away. Actually, it really is with walking distance and there is also a Tim Horton's, Licks, Swiss Chalet and McDonald's. You can get all your food/supplies there.

Computer (2) station (free internet) and one that is hooked up to a printer. You do have to pay for internet in the room (unless you are a Gold SPG member).

Great modern bar that is a part of Seasons Restaurant at the Prince.

Outdoor pool and great conference/wedding facilities. Both my friend and aunt had their wedding here.

Parking is free for guests and those attending a conference/wedding. Otherwise, its one of those Green P ticket things.

    Conclusion.

My rate for this room at a discount was $165 including relevant taxes and fees which is a great deal (October 8th, 2011). The regular rate for that same week per night was $225/night (not including taxes and fees). After all, it is a Westin. If you are ever in the Yorkmills Leslie area for business, visiting relatives or friends close by, I think this is a great hotel. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and close to major highways.

    Hotel Rewards Program.

I think the Starwood Preferred Program is one of the largest programs out there simply because of all the hotels (from Sheraton to St. Regis and everything in between). I currently have the Gold Preferred membership which really doesn't do much except I get late check-out at 4pm (when available) and automatic room upgrade at check-in (again only when available). You also have the ability to earn SPG points faster, but there are many other ways you can earn SPG points (AMEX SPG card as well as other credit cards that can transfer card points into SPG points).

The dollar to SPG point ratio is something confusing as well. For my night stay at The Prince I earned about 270 points. The average Starwood hotel requires at least 10000 points to redeem for one night which means you have to stay at a Starwood hotel a lot. If you travel often, this is not hard to do, and at the end of the day, it never hurts to get the Starwood card. It costs nothing to sign up. For more information, go to http://www.spg.com.

Wanted to take a quick moment to recommend the on site restaurant that hosts the Sunday brunch!

The staff are very hospitable and quick to serve.  It was my first time there and they must have noticed my hesitation at all the selections...one of the staff actually guided me to the omelette station where I got a great omelette.

A great feature of this brunch is the seafood bar, especially the large oysters ...I'm not a crazy oyster fan but these are pretty good.

The selection is great and the staff makes sure to replenish food that has been fully consumed by the hungry patrons.

The view is also very nice. It s a great place to go to and just lounge with family or friends or both...you could easily spend a whole day there.

It is a bit pricey but worth it.

I arrived here really late due to my delayed flight. I was super hungry and the only thing that was still open was the Seasons. The waitress was super nice and helpful. We asked her a bunch of question and she answered all of them. We asked a lot of tourist-y stuff since it was my first time in Canada. She was even nice enough to leave the restaurant and got me us a bunch of brochures and a map. She took time to actually show us where we were and stuff. This was def not her job but she was really nice. I wish I remembered her name so she can get credit for this review.

I got room 514 - when you walk in, it felt like a closet but when you turn it was very spacious! It gave me a shock when I walked in the room. I got the corner room, the rooms is very nice. I liked the huge windows on the corners with a mini balcony that you can't go into and of course you cannot forget the heavenly beds =) and super duo rainforest-like shower heads at westin hotels.

I wish this hotel offered freee wi-fi but they did have a business center with two computers that you can access to your emails easily. You can also print without a charge. *thumbs up

My only main CON with this hotel was the location. I always stick with starwood hotels since I am loyal fan. I picked this hotel because of the availability and thinking that the location was close to downtwon but it is not. Thishotel is outside of downtown Toronto. To get to Downtown, you would have to take the bus and the subway. It's about 35-45 mins commute. You would need $3 exact change or purchase a token. There is a small convenient store that sell token near the hotel. They don't advertise that they sell tokens though so that was a little tricky.  One of the FD staff told us about it. We basically got one free token instead of giving exact $3.

If you want a quiet comfortable place to stay then this is your bet!

Stayed here for 2 nights and was most impressed by the lobby decor, the staff and of course the Westin comfy bed. The grounds are well kept and colorful with abundant flowers and plants.

The rest? Meh. The halls and rooms were outdated, dark and in need of either repair or a complete redo.

The rooms were perfectly sized, again had a comfy bed, wonderful towels and a flat screen TV. Like the halls, the lighting and carpet were in need of some TLC.

The workout room is fine, with 4 treadmills, an elliptical and a StairMaster. A few floor mats and free weights round out the options.

Complimentary fruit in the gym, bonus. Cone cups for water, fail.

If you would rather work out outside, ask the desk for a 'runners map', this was super useful.

Complimentary Internet access available on a few computers downstairs was appreciated.

We were not as close to downtown as we usually like to be, but were staying here for a wedding that was held just down the road.

There are plenty of places to walk to for a bite to eat, or take advantage of the on site restaurant or room service.

Stayed here countless times over the years while on biz travel to Toronto and always enjoyed my stay. Nicely appointed rooms, helpful staff, and access to jogging paths and a nearby Tim Horton's. On one visit my rental car's doors were frozen shut and the hotel employees quickly rallied to unfreeze my driver door so that I could make my early AM meeting. If you are a jogger, do watch out for the ill-tempered Canadian geese on the property - they like to chase.

This is one nice looking spa resort type of hotel. The grounds are well manicured, and the lobby is sparkling clean.
The room is a bit small, but very comfortable. The view is amazing. I would imagine that every room is designed to have 2 sides of windows. The heavenly shower system was a treat:-D
It was a huge difference from the ghetto motel I stayed in the night before.
I would definitely stay here again.

Two words.  Heavenly Bed.  Gotta love Westin hotels and their dedication to putting me in a bed that is so full of fluffy pillows, soft sheets and a cushy duvet that it makes you feel like staying in bed all day!

Room service was on time, the food was good and the Internet, while not free- got me ready for my next day's meetings.  Couple that with the fact that this hotel is on 15 acres of parkland- great for an early morning walk and a moderate price point for a city location ($179 a night) and I'm a fan.

Now shush- and let me go back to dreaming about that heavenly bed!

So we need to be close to where we are visting some family and picked the price.
Couple of things about this hotel I did not like,
First you have pay for parking?  $13 per day as a guest.  Are you kidding me it is in the middle of the suburbs.
$20 a day for rollaway is also a litle over the top since most hotels dont charge for this.
$15 for internet.  Please it is time to stop charging if the cheaper properites can do it so can the more expensive ones.

    The Good
    The staff, friendly and helpful.
The bed was as always nice.
The room was little cramp but fine, has a slight smokey smell though.

I have spent seven weeks at the Westin Prince over the last two and a half months for work.

Let me start by saying that the staff of this hotel are very nice, very friendly, and highly professional. From check in to check out the team here are really about a consistent and high level of customer service.

The rooms, they are like most any other Westin I have stayed in. I think they are converting over to the "Heavenly Bed System" as I do not always get one in my room. But when I do.... WOW. Great bed.

Room service here is fast. They say 20 minutes, it gets there in 10. Fast feet at this hotel.

On-site restaurant has a limited menu for dinner - everything has tasted good. The breakfast menu and the Sunday brunch are really nice and I recommend you go at least once if you can. The view from this place is a tranquil island of northern woods almost letting you forget that you are in a major city.

Bathrooms - I have a low tolerance for germs in hotels and I feel very comfortable here. They do a nice job keeping the place clean. Some hotel cleaning staff leave the impression that they have touched everything you own and have left behind God knows what - but the Westin staff do a really nice job. Things are fresh and clean here.

Parking - write be sure you know your plate number if you are parking. The cost is $11 a day to park. Downtown it is $25 at other hotels so $11 is pretty good.

Tower vs other floors - my only issue with this hotel is that if you stay in the tower on a weekday, you have to wake up early to have really hot water. If you are up at 7:30 you are going to get warm water. If you are in the tower during the winter and you get cold easily the seals on the balcony doors are not great. I love the cold so this has never gotten to me. In addition the heat in each room is great. But I did hear two women in the elevator one morning mention this and I can their point.

Over all, if you are driving to and around the city for your stay, The Westin Prince Toronto has a great staff, comfortable clean rooms, and is easy to find from the highway.

Man-o-man, I wish this bed was my bed at home, because if it was, I'd never want to leave my room! This bed is probably THE MOST comfortable and plushy bed I've ever slept on! It also was a king size bed which was a nice surprise... Am I poor or something, because I've never stayed at a hotel with a king size bed!

I can't say enough goof things about this hotel, except maybe about the tv. The tv's are all flat screen (plasma or lcd, whatever) which is super nice, but ours was not working that great! We kept getting a squiggly line moving around the screen. Other than that the rooms were large and we even had a balcony, which we didn't discover until we were leaving and decided to open the blinds! How sad...

There was a wide range of snacks in the room, but I call those mouse traps, i'm not going to fall for it. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Front desk was quite helpful. The biggest negative about the hotel is their lack of parking. You actually have to pay $11 per car to park there! Considering the $170 room/night, you would expect them to throw in free parking to guests!

By far, one of the nicest hotels ever.  I was here for business so didn't take in any of the nightlife.  It's also on the northwest side of Toronto.  If you're looking for downtown hotels, this wouldn't be my first pick (but there's the subway nearby, providing easy urban access)  The hotel went through a remodel a couple of years ago and has an extremely modern feel.  Some of the photos on Yelp are out of date but I've uploaded some with the new décor.  From the outside, it doesn't look like anything great, but walk inside and its a whole other story!

The rooms were large and the bathrooms offered a free standing shower next to the tub.
The beds, in true Westin style, were completely out of this world.  I actually stayed in on a Friday night, curled up in the a the nice robe, laid in bed and watched television!  Crazy.  The staff was very nice and never had to ask for anything more than once.  When I checked in, I asked the desk clerk to arrange a limo to the airport for my return trip three days out.  They called me the night before I left, to confirm the car.  Nice follow up.

The restaurant served a lovely breakfast buffet, with almost anything you'd ever want.  And, since it's in Ontario, there was always plenty of real maple syrup (which is extremely expensive in the States).  The food menu in the bar was a bit lackluster, but found something decent nonetheless.  They're moving toward an all-organic menu, so not much in the way of comfort food.

Looking forward to my next stay.

This WAS the hotel we used to recommend to our out-of-town guests all the time; we would tell them about the convenient midtown location in a park-like setting, a wonderful Japanese restaurant in-house that is one of the best in TO (this hotel used to be owned by Japanese, when it was the Prince Hotel).

Recently we had to stay in a hotel in our hometown (reasons not explained to protect the innocent), so Westin Prince here we came. All we can say is , what a "change" and not all for the better:
    - The rooms, beds, showers etc. have been remodel ed to typical Westin standard and theme/feel which is quite nice;
    - The view from the room is still gorgeous;
    - The service, ugh, when something goes wrong is when you need to rely on the service the most, is sadly missing. I left some clothing items behind in the closet, okay my fault, but the ensuing experience is exceptionally unimpressive. We called the hotel shortly after checking-out, thinking they can just send someone to the room to retrieve the items. We were promised a quick response, but no one called back. Called them again, this time someone needed to check with the security desk before responding back.....didn't. Called again, Oh the security manager is tracking down housekeeping manager and will call you back....didn't. Then, they said they had to wait for the very person who'd cleaned our room to show up work again (she is a part-time) to speak to her, of course by then several days had gone by and the items were never found. It's just bizarre to think in this day and age of modern communication/process/standards, you'd have to wait for one person to turn up work again days later and tell you what she remembered seeing out of the numerous rooms she'd cleaned???

Needless to say, we no longer feel convinced to recommend this place to any of our friends/guests.

    Stayed here for a night.
The rooms and the bed was classic Westin - the grounds are superb and the location great.

Service at the front desk left much to be appreciated. Asked for a late checkout, and the answer was a cold 'we don't offer that'. Odd given that SPG does that for the preferred guests.

Finally asked for a manager, to get a late checkout of '2-230pm' - but the room key stopped working.

Seems like they can use a bit of polish in terms of dealing with check in. Valet service was meh, as the person on duty stepped out for lunch without a fall back.

Expect a bit more polish given the reviews and CAA designation. Perhaps an odd weekend...

Spent Valentine's Day Weekend at the Westin Prince with my wife and it was AMAZING. From check in to check out we loved the place. This was our first time in Canada and we were happy that this was the place we got to spent it. Christine who checked us in was amazing and provided great service to us on our visit. We shared with her that we were here to spend a romantic weekend and after honoring our request for a high floor and king bed room, she also sent us up a welcome gift which was a cheese platter with wine and a personal hand written note welcoming us to Toronto and for us to enjoy our valentine's day weekend. WHOA! What great service!
The lobby is beautiful, modern and very welcoming. The rooms are also modern with LCD TV's and a seperate shower/bathtub areas. Of course there is the heavenly bed which is great.
The exterior of the building itself definately shows age, but stepping inside will make you not even notice. If you decide to skip the restaurant in the hotel there is plenty of options in walking distance. We rented a car for the weekend as we did not want to rely on the bus to take us to the TTC trains as it is not in walking distance. We parked for free at the Don Mills Station, I think thats an option on weekends. they do charge for WiFi but the front desk nicely informed me that they provide computers in the lobby with internet access if you need to check anything or make a quick print. This was another great service.
Overall I would definately recommend the Westin prince for your visit to Toronto.

I chose the Westin Prince Hotel as the venue for my 200-person wedding last spring, and I was not disappointed. The hotel is set on a stunning property with overgrown trees & lush green lawns. I wanted to be married indoors but have all my photos taken outside and this was the ideal setting.
We rented a suite on the penthouse floor where we were able to host small gatherings and a rehearsal party.  All of our out-of-town friends and family stayed at the hotel that weekend -- we basically took over the place and had a great time.
The Ball Room (which has recently been renovated) was divided for the ceremony and dinner/dance all of which looked stunning! The food impressed all of our guests & the service was commendable.
The Prince hotel rooms are equipped with the Westin's Heavenly Beds and Rain Showers which make staying here feel like a real vacation. I recommend this hotel for a business function, wedding or just a holiday in a quiet part of the city.
