What make this place great is the location, friendly staff, restaurant and its proximity to Starbucks (it is in the hotel). As soon as we checked in the front desk upgraded us from a double-bed to a king in the tower's 18th floor with a great view of Stanley Park and the harbour. We went for a morning job the next day in the park and had brunch in the restaurant.  The restaurant is a bit pricey but I did enjoy the poached eggs with salmon and spinach and hollandaise sauce.  It was delicious!  We'll definitely come here again.

I highly recommend visiting an Olympic city immediately before the Olympics start. Everything is shiny and clean and pretty (though I suspect this is probably always true of Vancouver) and people are starting to get excited. Bonus points for accidentally staying at the same hotel as the International Olympic Committee, a la the Westin Bayshore, because the international spirit is all over the place!

The gist:

** SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER awesome staff. SO super, in fact, that I was motivated to send a note to the General Manager telling him so.

** Speedy room service

** Clean and recently updated rooms with sexy showers

** Entertaining bar staff, but the bar itself was rundown compared to the rest of the hotel (thus the docking of the 5th star)

Great brunch. Excellent surroundings, especially in summer. Lots to chose from the buffet. However, and I'm not a stickler for price, but it is seriously getting expensive. It's as though the buffet is appreciating faster than gold.
But, I've been a loyal customer for over 20 years, so it has what I need. And that's a great brunch at one of the best locations in Vancouver.

Really amazingly beautiful rooms with comfortable beds and gorgeous views of the harbor.  It's conveniently located in downtown Vancouver, so you're basically a short walk or taxi ride to a bunch of restaurants, bars and random fun things.  Or you can just walk down by the water.  So nice.  The gym seems to relatively spacious and there are two pretty decent sized pools.  The only detractors are the fact that you have to pay 15 bucks per day for internet (what?!!!!)  and there's not really a good bar directly in the hotel.  But other than that, this is a great place to stay if you're in Vancouver.  Pricewise, it's not the cheapest..245.00 per night for 4 people (though we shoved in 5 and i guess theoretically could put more in), but not really that bad at all.

Stayed here for the 2nd time this past weekend, and must say I really like this place a lot.

It's pretty huge, with a lobby that's generally bustling with tourists coming in, tourists checking out, baggage carts piled high, guests grabbing taxis, etc., but the staff is attentive and takes the time to do whatever your transaction is just right.   Oh - and if there's a wait, you can avail yourself of free apples and juice!  Really!

The rooms are spacious and clean, and the decor is dark wood, brushed steel, glass, etc. - a sort of yupscale corporate feel but still cozy.  The beds are, as advertised, heavenly.  No other word for it.  So many pillows!  Such soft and squishy and fluffy duvets!  Aaaahhh.... relaxing.

The showers are now set at "save the planet" when you get into the room - which is to say, the 2nd shower head has been deactivated.  All you need to do is push a button on that shower head to turn it back on and have a marvelously luxurious (planet-destroying, eco-system-savaging) shower featuring TWO jet sprays whooshing torrents of water all over you.  Lovely!

On our first visit, we scored an upper story room with a pool view, and it was divine.  We had a clear view of the water, the mountains, the cruise ships coming and going, and the big round sparkling outdoor pool throwing off shards of reflected light.  Truly, a world class view.

This last time, we checked in ridiculously early, and yet they were happy to check us in immediately.  The desk clerk made an apology face and said, "with a city view."

Obviously if you can choose, get the view over the water.  But don't fret if you get the apology face and a city view.  Our room looked over the roof of some part of the hotel, with a sliver of city to the right and a more generous sliver of sky and sea and mountains to the left, and it was just fine.  Especially since we scored a terrace!  With deck chairs!

Let's see... other amenities.  The place features an indoor pool and a fitness center as well as the outdoor pool.  My husband has used the fitness center both times, and says it's quite good.  Hours are 5:00am - 11:00pm, which seems fine to me.  There are a couple of restaurants, neither of which we've visited, and a seafront-style bar (can't remember the name).  Bar service both inside and out on the patio by the pool - nice!  The decor is quirky and quaint for a bar in a giant, luxe hotel, and cozy enough to feel like you're in a "real" establishment, not a corporate place.  Drinks are as expensive as you'd expect in a 4-star hotel in Canada.  Which is to say, ouch.

The property is just a couple of blocks from Stanley Park, so both times we've cabbed it to the corner of Robson and Granville, done what we do in the city, and then walked back to the hotel.  Lazy me prefers this to walking up the hill to the corner of Robson and Granville and taking a cab back.  Just a tip.

The Westin Bayshore is within easy walking distance from the Tapastree (our favorite tapas retaurant ever), and from lower Robson and Denman.  (There's a White Spot on the way there, which I am dying to try, as the White Spot seems to be a B.C. institution.)

On Denman there are LOTS of neighborhood (i.e., not schmancy and swank) restaurants and shops and pubs to check out, and a very non-touristy vibe prevails.  At the corner of Robson and Denman there's now a huge Safeway - featuring a liquor store! - so you can stock up on snacks and booze and take them back to the hotel.  No need to pay the price for the mini bar!

All in all, I really, really like this place.  Both times I've scored the reservation on hotwire - average price about $130/night USD.  Just checked on the Westin's reservation page, which lists rooms at the Bayshore starting at $255/night Canadian.  Frankly, if I weren't such a buget conscious freak, I might be tempted to pay that.  It's that nice here.

All I could say was wow!

Came to a gay wedding here in the International Suite, it was small and intimate, around 60 people in attendance.  The suite itself had a huge veranda which not only overlooked the harbor but had the signature gorgeous Vancouver backdrop of the mountains and greenery.  Really stunning!

The guest rooms are newly renovated and are modern and decorated very tastefully.  Clean lines, dark woods, color scheme was taupe and white, which is my favorite.

Food served was great too, and the highlight was the Profiterole (Cream Puff) Tower that they brought out in lieu of the wedding cake!  I have to say that I sampled it before the ceremony!

Great location. Beautiful views. Comfortable bed. Clean sheets. Clean bathroom.

Wait, why am I speaking like a robot? Snap out of it.

I stayed here for 4 days/ 3 nights. I was given a room on the preferred guest floor. I had a magnificent view of sunrise on the coal harbour. The Grouse mountain with its snow covered peak provided a perfect backdrop for the sunrise. I took full advantage of the location, walked along the sea wall, tooled around the marina, and enjoyed the incredible views of Stanley park. The hotel is right next to Stanley park, and walking distance to shopping on Robson street.

Service is impeccable. My room was clean every time I returned. Pool and sauna are clean and provided a good way to relax after a long day of walking around Stanley park. Bell hop was kind enough to store my bags while I checked out and went around town to buy last minute gifts.

Going with yelp's rating scale, "Yay! I am  a fan"

Arrived very late in the AM.  The lobby was fairly quiet.  All the people at the concierge were Japanese-looking ladies.  Complimentary apples in the basket in the lobby, took one.  Complimentary juice, drank some.  Check in was fairly easy and quick, got a nice 4th floor room with marina view.  Of course, I didn't know this until the following morning.  Parking would have been 26 CAD per night.  Found street parking. Metered spots start at 9am and go till 8pm, so as long as you get out before then, you're ok.

All in all, the stay was very wonderful.  Got a very decent price through priceline.  The juno award banquet were also at the hotel, so the lobby was swarming with famous Canadian people, in which I had no idea who they were.

Beautiful, nice beds, clean, luxury at its best.  In walking distance to a lot of Asian foods on Robson st, in reviews to come.

Our society held our annual meeting in the conference center connected to the hotel.  I have to say the location by the water was great!  I enjoyed waking up every morning to the sounds of seagulls and waves.

The food was also very good.  Although a little pricey, it was of high quality.

The staff was very friendly also.  They were more than happy to help or answer questions or do anything to make our stay more enjoyable.

If you can afford a room I highly recommend the Westin Bayshore.  It is at the edge of downtown northwest of Robson Street shopping, but the views and sounds and service are well worth it!

I didn't stay here but attended a conference for several days at this hotel. It's a beautiful place! The location by the water and Stanley Park was just perfect. The conference was held on the second floor and the rooms were just right for our purposes - not too large and not too small. The meals that we had at the conference were also excellent. We had salmon for lunch one day and the final dinner was a buffet of international foods. All of the food was well prepared.

The only reason I didn't stay in a room here was because I was a student and couldn't afford to. However, when I'm wealthy enough, I'll make sure to stay here the next time I'm in Vancouver!

My husband and I just spent a long weekend at this hotel and absolutely loved it. The staff was extra friendly even though you could tell with the anticipation of the Winter Olympics a week away, they would be stressed out, but there weren't. The hotel has great views of the bay and is neighbor to Stanley Park. Had some drinks at the bar which had great service and great drinks. I am a Starwood Perfered Guest so I got the Perfered guest wing. The rooms were newly renovated and very clean. The shower was great with no hot water shortage. The shopping area is walking distance as well, we did not have a rental car so that made it easy to just stroll around to shop. I would for sure stay here again!

Who doesn't love a good inner city vacation?  Just be sure to take full advantage of all the amenities associated with them.  I love the Westin Bayshore.

The beds are almost too comfortable.  No such thing, the beds are perfect.

The view is killer, coal harbour in all its glory.

The breakfast is filling, plentiful and spans every type of food.

A hot day is well wasted pool side with some fruity drink.  Naturally the service is world class.  There are fine hotels in this city, but the Westin Bayshore is up there.  The location alone makes it far superior to the Westin Grand.  Damn, Vancouver loves Westins.

On Friday nights in December the Westin Bayshore becomes the center of corporate Holiday party madness. When I attended a friend's Christmas party the gals in sparkly dresses had the place over-run. It got us thinking just how easy would it be to crash a staff party?

We had a perfectly cooked salmon dinner with a surprisingly delicious pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. The whole shin-dig was great until someone accidentally pulled the plug on the dj. Nothing kills a party like an unexpected stop to the tunes.

I've also been to the Westin Bayshore for various conferences (Board of Trade, personal-empowerment type things) and the venue holds a crowd no problem.

The only downside is that if the bar is not open, beer and wine is horrendously expensive at $8+ each. You'll drop a $20 bill just on two drinks.

Thank you, Westin, for upgrading my room to the South Tower in a room right over the water.  This was my first trip to Vancouver, and it couldn't have been any better.  The room was so clean and modern, and the staff almost seemed invisible.  We were only out for a bit, bike riding around Stanley Park, and when we were back, the room was completely clean, no one in sight!  No one on the floor, pushing carts around, etc.  Great service, great central location, amazing views--thank you, Westin, for an amazing stay!

I was recently at a conference at the Westin Bayshore and this is one nice hotel! I didn't have the pleasure of hanging out in the hotel rooms, but I did spend a lot of time admiring the rest of the hotel.

The Westin Bayshore is in a great location. The views of Coal Harbour are gorgeous and the hotel is close to both Stanley Park and Robson Street.

One thing that I admired was the great outdoor heated pool. Sadly, I was in a suit and not a swim suit. Oh well. Better luck next time. At least the food that was catered for the conference by the hotel was good.

I checked in here on Sunday morning after taking getting in from a wonderful Canadian (VIA) train trip.  I was on a business trip in Edmonton on Friday and had to be in Vancouver on Monday, so why not see some of the amazing beauty that in this case Alberta and BC have to offer?

This hotel is a beauty.  It's right on the water and near Stanley Park and the West End.  My room was very nicely appointed, very comfortable, and had a killer view of the water, especially when those float planes land.

Of course you don't stay in your hotel room when you are in a place like Vancouver.  If I would have planned better, I would have participated in the Sun run, but ended up walking down to the water, taking the boat to Granville Island (and back), walking up shore, through the West End and Robson Street, towards the Gas Light District and then back.

By the time, my work colleagues and I met in the Lobby of the hotel on Monday morning, I was very happy and well rested.

Located right on the periphery of Vancouver's downtown hub is the Westin Bayshore. Luxurious, grand, it holds all the modern day conveniences of a top-rated hotel while absorbing the natural beauty and splendour of neighbouring Stanley Park and the surrounding waters. Vancouver's skyline has never looked as beautiful as it did from their balconies.

Along with its hotel services, the Westin Bayshore is also the site of weddings, conventions and other celebratory events. My experience here is not as an overnight lodger but as a high school student attending her grad.

By all appearances, it was swank and lush. The main staircase sweeps up onto the upper levels, which is where their main ballrooms are. Large, airy and grand, it was the perfect venue to celebrate and dance the night away.

The menu that night was rather conventional but tasty (Caesar salad, chicken and cheesecake--not the most inspired combination but it was chosen by my schoolmates).

If you are bringing your dog with you, you gotta stay at the westin bayshore. It's a dog friendly hotel. Before I moved to coal harbour, I stayed at this hotel a couple times. It's close to the stanley park and lots of grass areas for dogs to run around. All the staff are extremely nice and friendly. Especially they all love my dog. They also recommended me to go to this dog store right by their hotel. It's only 1 min walk from the hotel. It's called Bark and Fitz. They do grooming. They sell the most healthy food. They have good service there too. It was so convinent for me to stay at the westin bayshore when I had to bring my dog with me. Now I moved to Vancouver so I don't need to stay at this hotel anymore. I am highly recommend this hotel to dog owners!

Got a great deal to stay here on hotwire and this hotel is really nice. Its more business oriented with a really cool modern style. The beds are awesome and incredibly comfy. You get an HDTV but as with most hotels the cable is standard def.  The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because for as fantastic as this hotel is they still wanted to charge about $14 a day to get on their wireless connection. You are a 4 star hotel and its the year 2009...that is completely unacceptable.

We stayed at the Westin Bayshore for a long weekend and it was very good.  It was well located (we were able to get almost everywhere by bus only having to walk a block from the hotel), the concierge was fantastic and helped us with every need (dinner reservations, directions, bus schedules, local breakfast places, etc.) and the view was great.

I have three criticisms, though.  First, the hotel charges for Internet access.  $15 per day is high for something that many hotels give for free.  Second, we called in to the concierge from outside the hotel to have her change a dinner reservation when we realized that we would be late.  All we got was voicemail and the message was never picked up.  (That being said, she was able to reschedule the reservation when we got back to the hotel.)  Finally, we came back from a day of hiking to a room that had not been cleaned.  The hotel was very responsive and came right up to clean it, but this was an oversight that should not have happened.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

My brother's grad was held at the Bayshore and it was incredible.  Usually reserved for trade shows like the bridal fare or signs up for massive marathons and fitness activities, the classy hotel is great for events. Facing the water and Coal Harbour, you can often see float planes and yachts go by. I love the seawalk as well.  The rooms are nicely put together, standard hotel rooms but I think tourists come for the views.  I really like the restaurant and meeting lounges, the service is phenomenal.  The outdoor restaurant in the summer is also worth taking a look at.
