The Western Front is a piece of great Vancouver artistic history. The home of the "western front" poetry movement and home to many great local artists, it still houses plenty of artistic services and is one of the hubs of Vancouver's arts scenes.
As a gallery The Western Front presents one of the consistently best new media and mixed media arts spaces. I've seen everything from painting to video here and all have been expertly curated and enjoyable. They also feature numerous performance pieces and new music events. On top of all this as an artistic society they have a pretty amazing research library available to anyone looking to beef up their own practice as well.
The founders had an idea to make something better out of the Vancouver artistic scene and in many ways have founded what we know today in the Vancouver arts. It's great to see the society still kicking in its little blue building and still on the cutting edge of the arts. -

Toque! was great this weekend. I actually took care of my Christmas shopping in one location and left feeling creatively satisfied. Glad I found out about this event.
