Disclaimer - I got sick right after I ate here, but have since determined that it was a badly timed virus and not the result of my meal.
The Western Door is a prime example of "you get what you pay for". The prices are not cheap but you get a lot of good food and service for what you pay.
We had a party of 8 that grew into a party of 10 and a team of two waiters taking good care of us. They described the various breads in the baskets they provided, and asked if anyone had food allergies they should be aware of (how courteous!). They kept our drinks filled without being overbearing about whether we should be drinking more or not and explained all the specials quite adeptly.
Our group didn't make it easy for them, the way we divided the bill and who was ordering what, but they handled it very well.
So now, onto the food. The breads were delicious. I particularly liked the jalapeno scones which weren't at all spicy. We ordered several side dishes - sweet potato, mushrooms/onions, asparagus and the lobster mac and cheese. I didn't try the mushrooms since I don't like mushrooms but pretty much everyone was raving about all the entrees except the lobster mac and cheese, which I agreed was a little lackluster and needed either some goat cheese or gorgonzola to pimp it up a bit.
The meat entrees were huge and tasty. I had the small prime rib, 16 oz, which came out bigger than I was expecting - I don't know how anyone would be able to eat the 24 oz version! Everyone else's selections looked equally impressive and folks were all raving about the food.
Alas we were way too full to sample dessert but when I walked by the dessert counter on the way to the impeccably maintained restrooms, they did look super tasty. -

Very good. I ate at the bar to avoid the 3 hour wait for a reservation opening. The bartenders were excellent and very knowledgeable about the menu.
My mojito was only so-so. But they get a pass because everything else was so good. Unique and tasty assortment of breads. Food was out like clockwork. Absolutely delicious Blue Point oysters. Steak special also hit the spot. But the bartenders did me right with dessert. They told me not even to look at the menu - just order the Chocolate Peak cake. I've had chocolate lava cakes - but NOTHING like this!!!! If you like chocolate - try it.
If the price tag is too much, just pick up a few extra $$ from the slots downstairs. Best choice in an otherwise disappointing restaurant town. -

I was on vacation back in September and consider the economy is s
bad, this place was happening, it was so busy that, we have to wait 20 minutes for a table, we were setting in a bar to wait , and got some drinks and the bar tender seems very busy and got our drinks with in
5 minutes, food wasn't the greatest and price was very reasonable,
The server was excellent services come back to check on us very offend -

Living 2,661 miles and 42 hours of nonstop driving from The Western Door and having eaten there once when I didn't pay the bill, I consider myself an expert on the place. Because of these lofty credentials, I'll say with the upmost confidence that this is the best Niagara Falls steakhouse located in a casino that has a steer for a logo. I know I'm going out on a limb, but I'm confident this statement is beyond reproach.
In truth, we had a mini-family reunion of 10 and we couldn't have been treated better. I expected a shoddy experience and was proved wrong. The food was great and the service better. From salads to hunks of bloody meat, nothing disappointed.
Now only if I could have applied the $100 I lost on the tables to the red meat bill. -

Menu = 10. Service = 10. This place is no joke. As others said below, their food, menu and service is top notch....but let me warn you, it's pricey. Plan on spending at least $65 a person. I got a steak which was one of the best steaks I've eaten in years. The bartender Loran and Brian were very nice and talkative. I enjoyed the 3 different spreads they provide with the 3 different types of bread before the meal. For the price I paid I would have liked to get a salad with the dinner. The portions (aside from the steak) are kind of small but top notch. I would return when in the mood for a good steak and not worried about blowing some cash again. Save this place for a special occasion.

Easily one of my favorite restaurants of all time. Hands down.
I have eaten here twice now, and both times, both the food & the service lacked nothing. The breads & spreads you get before your meal are all to die for, and our soups, salads & entrées were all above par.
Prices here are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. They do feature a kobe steak on the menu for about $70, but I can't bring myself to pay that kind of price! On our most recent visit here about a week ago, I had the Veal Oscar, which was absolutely delicious, my fiancé had the Kansas City Steak, also delicious, and his father had the filet mignon, which was also good.
Also, the staff here noticed his father hand him a birthday card & asked if we were celebrating something & we told them we were there for his birthday, they brought him out a birthday dessert (sans the embarrassing singing haha). We had a great experience here both times, and I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone celebrating a nice occasion. -

The best steakhouse in WNY. The Chop House doesn't come close to the Western Door. The meats are the choicest cuts available (REAL Wagyu/Kobe beef is available). My favorite is the bone-in ribeye.
The sides, bread, appetizers, soups and seafood are also incredible. Some of the best quality I've had in any part of the US. The cold seafood platter is a must for a special occasion.
The prices for everything could easily be 2x in other major cities. The exception to this is the wine list, it seems to be rather small, and heavily weighted to the $60+/bottle ($20 retail). Even the Chilean wines are rather expensive. Wonder if they offer corkage.
The superb food and drinks are all grounded by their top-notch servers, hosts, and chefs. The kitchen is semi-open, to allow you to view your meal as it is prepared by their team of chefs.
Just to reiterate, the best Steakhouse in WNY.Listed in: TOP 5 Dining Experiences in…

The best steakhouse in WNY.
Well constructed cocktails and plesant conversation were provided by a knowledgable barman.
Efficient, menu-savvy servers made dining a delite.
Tables are set with sturdy flatware and quality napery.
The bone-in ribeye was a winner for me. Sampled a scallop app as well as a crab-stuffed shrimp entree and both were top notch.
Sides were served piping hot.
Prices are very fair considering the quality of product and service.
The suggested "fine dining" dress code is ignored. Witnessed flip-flops, t-shirts, sweat pants and an errant dangling colostomy bag. It is, after all, WNY and a tourist destination.
Smoking and non-smoking dining areas availlable - great for my fellow nicotine junkies . -

Disclaimer: sooo I didn't exactly get to eat here.
Boyfriend and I settled on this steakhouse for our fancy dinner night in Niagara. Made a same-day reservation for 8:30p (the only reservation available at the time, and this was during the off-season so you might want to keep that in mind) and when we got there, were seated with no problem. Our waitress brought us a basket of assorted breads, including an onion/potato focaccia as well as an accompanying array of spreads: plain old butter, a citrus zested butter, and an artichoke concoction, the latter of which went well with the aforementioned focaccia. Boyfriend ordered some wine for us and we were promptly carded, which was kind of... quaint? I'm nearly 24 and he is 26, and neither of us have been carded at the dinner table in an upscale restaurant... well, ever. The wine came and we ordered French onion soup and filet mignons with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. It seemed like it would be a nice evening.
Then I got sick.
Which had absolutely nothing to do with the restaurant. I suspect a meal elsewhere that day or little children running around our hotel were the culprits.
While I was busy being ill with what was probably little kid germs, boyfriend asked if we could get everything packed up to go because I was under the weather. We were both really impressed with how quickly the staff reacted. No fewer than three servers came to help take the food we already had (breads and the soup) and get the check process in motion. Our check was taken care of immediately so that as soon as our food was done in the kitchen, we could leave with it freshly packed. One of the women even packed us an extra bag of bread in addition to the bread they brought to the table, which I ended up appreciating later in the evening when I was feeling better.
Before that small fiasco, the service was really great. The waitress made the carding process slightly less awkward by remarking that boyfriend would "probably turn out to be 27" (close!) and was friendly and knowledgeable in general. I also ate a bunch of the soup, which I would give 4 stars. It wasn't the best bowl of French onion soup I had ever had, but it was GIANT and very tasty. And the bread was good. I ate a lot of it in the wee hours of the morning.
Boyfriend said the steak, asparagus, and garlic mashed potatoes were good, but nothing special. -

Dined as follows:
table bread- not bad/ came with three spreads. Was not a fan of the hummus but the other two were decent.
Iceberg wedge and tomato/mozzarella stack- wedge was standard, needed a better dressing as it was very bland. The tomato stack as described by the wife was fantastic. Above average compared to previous versions.
8 oz filet, loaded baked potato, asparagus/ sea bass- filet was a nicely prepared piece, asparagus was average, baked potato was above average. As described by my wife the sea bass was well above average, accompaniments were as well.
This place is pricey, especially being ala carte. From the looks of the skanky surrounding area on the U.S side you would have to go back to Buffalo for a very good meal and who really wants to do that. -

This restaurant is amazing!! I was taken there on vacation, which was also on my birthday. I still left with the feeling that the experience would have been exactly the same had it not been a special day.
First off, it's in the casino so we were totally under dressed. I could certainly tell from the decor that it was a fine dining restaurant, but unfortunately we would not have the opportunity to return so it was now or never. The staff was very friendly, and didn't make us feel out of place. I had originally requested to sit in the area overlooking the casino, not realizing those spots were reserved for large parties, and because I had said it was my birthday, they were going to try to accommodate us!! It would have been in poor taste for a couple to sit at a table for 10, but that's how nice they were...they actually would have let us. That spoke volumes.
Servers Rachelle and Steve were exceptional!! Knowledgeable and prompt, our dinner was seamless! I cannot speak higher of the caliber of the entire staff here.
Our food was amazing. From the choice breads at the start to the "surprise" birthday dessert at the end, everything we ordered was perfect.
I really, really can't wait to have another excuse to get up to this area again, because I know I will be stopping in here. Absolutely worth the price, and for a dining experience I feel was one of the best I have ever experienced!! -

We are visiting and this is the Worst restaurant ever!! If I could give it a negative star I would. Everything we had was overcooked. The bread selections were an exercise for your jaw, the bisque had rubbery lobster, the steaks and shrimp were all over cooked. The cheesecake had a citrus taste, too. The only positive was the service. For the price do not waste your money!! A great steak is worth every penny but not here.
