Review from Dru C.
A decent breakfast establishment. The place is huge, so it can fit large groups. I believe there is a gratuity charge though, it says on the menu.
The food is not as bad as I thought, but the service is extremely sub par though. To be honest, the price is steep for breakfast food, but if you choose the special combos they have, there are a large quantity of food on your plate though....
I love their waffles though. OF COURSE, it's called the WAFFLE HOUSE! DERP!! The waffles are unique as the ruffles are smaller than usual waffles but the surface area is a lot larger though. It is fluffy, but there is a bit of a crunch in it. Very similar to crepes...
Anyways, overall the place is not bad, decent 3 stars is all this place deserves anyways... :P -

First time here for breakfast. I had my usual soft poached, ham, potatoes and rye toast. Not bad for $6.50 early bird special (have to be there before 10am). Eggs were tasty and real butter on the toast. I prefer a thicker slice of ham but it had nice salty flavour. The downfall were the potatoes, they came slightly on the cool side and were quite flavourless. Anne's shredded hashbrowns were soggy on the inside. Overall $6.50 not bad

Was seated promptly and served coffee. Waitress walks by with clean dishes to set another table, drops a clean coffee cup rim down on the floor, picks it up, then proceeds to place the cup properly on the new table. Gross! Needless to say, I let the manager know, and left.

It was neither good nor bad. It just was. I wasn't expecting much. I hadn't read the reviews on yelp. We were walking by and decided to give it a try.
They seated us right away and brought us our beverages. After she took our food order, we waited. And then waited some more. The place wasn't busy, we went at 2:30ish on a Saturday afternoon. Our orders weren't complicated - 2 of us had waffles, one had chicken caesar salad and a side order of fries. But still we waited. For a good while longer than we should have. From reading the other reviews, i guess it's normal to wait?
I wasn't overly impressed with my waffle. it was better than Eggo, but wasn't really my cup of tea. I guess i like them a bit fluffier. My friend had blueberries on hers, which looked canned and flavorless. The caesar wasn't very noteworthy either but my bacon was well cooked and the fries seemed alright. The refills on the coffee and water came quickly.
All in all i wouldn't make the trek out there just for this place. But if I was starving or there was some sort of zombie apocalypse, I'd hole up here for a while. -

This is the best breakfast joint in New West.
It's greasy spoon that isn't actually greasy.
*DISCLAIMER* I can't speak for anything on the menu except for the breakfast items.
As the restaurant name suggests their specialty is Waffle's so that's what I suggest you get. They don't mess around with the waffles either. They're about the size of a large dinner plate, not too thick, just a little sweet with a crispy outside and a soft middle.
If you feel like splurging, substitute the hot raspberry or hot blueberry waffle for the plain one. You won't regret it at all.
The coffee here is passable, but I don't mind since there are plenty of good coffee houses around. There is also a big selection of tea's if coffee isn't your thing.
The quality of food here is always consistent (unlike the service which ranges from fast and friendly to slow and surly).
If you're in the NW and feel like a waffle, forget IHOP and go here instead. -

It's OK, but mainly for the grey-hair crowd
I really don't mind the waffles here, although they are not spectacular I consistently am satisfied with service, taste and serving size. Lots of options on the menu and I always find the servers to be friendly and attentive. -

Disappointment. If you are going to call yourself the Waffle House, you better make damn sure your waffles are awesome.
Service was friendly, but despite being 2:30 in the afternoon it was sloooow. There weren't many people in the restaurant, and our orders were extremely simple, yet it took so long for the food to arrive.
I had a fruit topped waffle. The waffle was warm-ish. The fruit was really cold. Refrigerated cold. And not good. The berries were kinda tough, and I know they are out of season, but at least get good frozen ones. I have had plenty of good frozen berries. And warm them up a bit so they don't cool off my waffle.Listed in: Never Again

Let me make this perfectly clear - I HATE WAFFLES!!! I hate them at restaurants. I hate them from the grocer's freezer (Eggo, etc), and I hate them when someone cooks them at home and I have to make a half-hearted attempt to pretend to enjoy them.
You might say that I'm a lot like Sam from Green Eggs and Ham, especially after what I will say next (sorry, Garth C.)
I LOVE the waffles at The Waffle House! I just LOVE 'EM!!! Not only do I love the Jiffy Wiffy Waffles, but I usually get a double stack of them (make that TWO double stacks, or four waffles in a stack) when I go there, which takes place maybe only once every year or two.
I have to admit that I was very much surprised to learn that I really and truly do like their waffles. Everywhere I go, I have always found waffles to be too dry, too eggy (I'm NOT an egg lover), to crispy, or too whatever. But with the Jiffy Wiffy Waffle, I have finally found a 'waffle home', where the waffles have been consistently good every time I've been there. The serve warmed Old Time (if I recall correctly) syrup on the side, with real butter (can't remember if I had to request it instead of margarine, but in any case, they have real butter). Unlike the disgusting gunk that passes for syrup just up the block at the IHOP (a 20 on a sweetness scale of one to ten), the Old Time syrup is not so sweet as to be gross; it's just sweet enough.
As to the service, I've always found the waitresses there to be very good at doing their job. It doesn't take forever for someone to take my order or deliver it.
The rest of the menu is okay, though I must admit to not having tried much else from the waffles, other than one or two items.
Like others have said, it's not a fancy place; it's just a stereotypical 'home cooking' type of restaurant.
I'll be back once or twice in 2011 for a waffle or four. -

Ever since I read Al R.'s review a few days ago, I've been craving waffles. Not French toast. Not pancakes. A big crispy golden waffle the size of a plate, with plenty of butter and syrup on it. And that's exactly what a Jiffy-Wiffy waffle is all about. (Yeah, I have to say the name. Maybe if I look in the mirror and say it three times it will appear.)
The menu is a little uneven - how much you enjoy the Waffle House depends on what you order. As far as I'm concerned, when you visit the Waffle House, stick with the waffles. And possibly bacon. The Eggs Benny came with some sort of weird coloured Hollandaise sauce and the hash browns were a cold, tasteless, undercooked mess.
If I wasn't in a waffle coma, though, I might have rolled the dice on some mango cheescake, rice pudding or Jello for dessert.Listed in: Bright Lights, Royal City, Diners

When you call yourself a waffle house you should be prepared to serve some really good waffles. Unfortunately the waffles are just ok, not bad but not great.
That aside, everything else aside from the waffles were delicious so don't go in there expecting the worlds best waffles. -

Probably one of my fav places for breakfast in the city. Its not greasy or oil, yet leaves you satisfied in terms of a delicious breakfast.
The waffle is light and slightly sweet. I wish it were a bit fluffier, but it was still really good. I've tried their regular waffle, and their waffle with raspberry mixed into the batter. The raspberries add a tartness to the waffle which is a nice change. I don't like to put anything on my waffles - usually only some butter. Here I didn't need to put anything at all due to the sweetness already in the batter.
I've tried their sausages and bacon. Both cooked well and not too greasy. The eggs are decent. My only problem is with their hash browns. They were not cooked enough the times I've been there. Maybe its time to try out their panfries instead.
Service is unhurried. Not fast, not slow either. I usually spend 30 - 45 minutes here depending on how fast I decide on what to eat!
I've already been here a couple times and definitely will be back for more. I'm curious about their lunch and dinner menus. The dessert card on the table looks scrumptious. -

Hmmm. Well I did read most of the reviews on Yelp about this establishment , but I thought I should at [the very] least take a chance and make a more experienced opinion. Well. I can officially say that I am not impressed and I will not be visiting this restaurant any time soon.
I will explain. Upon my entry the somewhat overly "stressed" hostess/waitress ignored me, OK I can forgive her as she was the only floor staff at 8:09 AM (they open @ 8:00 AM) on a Sunday morning. Once seated I saw that there were 4 other tables occupied, so I guess you could say that they were busy? I was offered coffee right after being seated;good. However I think I got the batch that Tim Horten's usually throws out. Let just say it was more like a Black crayon in hot water;bad. But enough of the coffee let get to the FOOD!
I ordered the waffle and (3) sausages, after all we're at the Waffle House, which I thought would be sufficient. OK. Then waited for my food passing the time reading Yelp reviews on my smartphone, what else would I be doing at 8:15 AM. There were other tables that, I suppose, were waiting for food deliveries as well but to my surprise I received my order relatively quickly, within 10 minutes of ordering. In fact, before 3 of the other table received theirs. Now I am not complaining about receiving the order before everyone else. BUT. There were a couple of tables that did have an opinion about this, more on this a little later.
The food arrived, three breakfast sausage links and an 8" round waffle approximately 3/8" thick waffle. The waffle despite being crispy was, well disappointing to say the least . What I was expecting (and to my surprise) for the $8.00 was about $3.00 worth of food. YAY! I love value. The sausages were a little undercooked but hey I was hungry. Did I mention that it was 8:15 AM, Sunday morning.
Now back to the angry mob, err, I mean customers. Once I received my order a couple near me asked the waitress, who now did have help, when their order would be arriving. Frustrated she went back to the kitchen and yelled , yes yelled , at the kitchen staff. You have to appreciate people that motive others.
Surprisingly, however, the orders were coming out, but not for a couple that had been there for at least, what I overheard, for 1/2-an-hour. Now this could have been a sight exaggeration but being that I had already been there for 20 minutes, probably not. Anyways they eventually got their order, but got the wrong side order. Once again the waitress went back to "motivate" the kitchen staff.
OK, OK, enough about this.
To make a long story short.
Bad service + Small portions + High Cost =
NO RETURN PATRONAGE. -
Review from Jenni B.
Nothing beats a "no frills" diner with delicious breakfast food, and in terms of breakfast joints this one takes the cake!
Let me be clear, it's not hip, it's not trendy, but it has all the basics I look for in a brunch - good coffee (check), greasy bacon perfect crispyness (check), savory waffles (check!). I highly suggest the fruit topped waffles, nothing gets better than that! -

Service was good but the food was only so-so. Our breakfast came a bit cold. Might give it another try.

For a place called the "waffle house" I found the selection of waffles quite small, also the toppings were canned very very sugary and even the homemade whip cream was extra sweet. I left with a sore stomach and the feeling that I could have made the same food at home and it probably would have tasted better. Relatively low prices saved this from receiving one star
