We were driving home from Wyoming to Chicago and stopped at this place and they were closed! But, the man in the joint was willing to stay open to feed us. We were so happy. Thank you! The sandwiches are awesome! I highly recommend the Cuban and the potato salad! I just got a simple ham, turkey, and bacon sandwich because I didn't want to get something extravagant and be hard for the employees. But it is so delicious. And the people are so nice. Thank you for staying open!

This place is outstanding, it's exactly what an upscale-ish deli should be. First, the decor is great, with cherry colored wood paneling and a black and white checkered floor as highlights on the inside. The ambiance is top notch, going there to order a sandwich will remove you from your day, and encourage you to think about your food, in a way few lunch places do.
The menus offers a variety of hot and cold sandwiches. I only ever ordered the New Yorker (basically a Ruben) or the chicken salad, but both were excellent. The deli has sprouts, which too many places do not. The potato salad is good, and the other sides look appetizing. Portions are large, such that you can pretty easily save half of what you get for dinner. They always seemed to get our office's orders right. When I walked in, the guy making the sandwiches and I had a nice conversation. And this article http://www.wqad.com/Gl... makes the proprietors sound like solid folks who deserve all the success they get, which will hopefully be a lot, as their place is top notch. -

Their pulled pork is amazing! I'm craving it right now. Maybe it's just their bread, but seriously, it's a pretty mean pulled pork sandwich. I love the environment, it feels like I'm in Boston or something. Definitely wait and sit downstairs, in the upper level you lose the ambience. Prompt and friendly service. It's probably now my favorite restaurant in the Village.
