So, you think you know your tea? Even if you've got your greens sorted from your Oolongs, your Rooibus differentiated from your Fruit Tisanes, prepare for a new experience in complex flavor and choice at The Urban Tea Merchant.
The store includes a lovely dining area where one can enjoy a dizzying selection of quality teas, bite size delights from the menu a la carte or you can choose a tea 'experience' where the tea service is matched with your choice of tea and the sweets are selected as a perfect compliment.
Should you wish to take a piece of your experience home with you, there is a wall of loose tea to choose from in addition to beautifully packaged loose teas to delight the most discerning taste buds and provide a feast for your eyes at home on your counter.
I'll admit it - I'm a bit of a tea fanatic. At the height of my obsession and bored with the traditional North American fare, I wandered the streets of Paris in search of fabulous tea and then, once found, purchased mail order tea. Now that The Urban Tea Merchant is close to home, I can enjoy an even better quality product right in my own backyard, although the tea at Urban Tea is also sourced from France.
The products are pricey but the selection and complexity of flavors deserve a higher proportion of your "fun foods" budget. It's also a great place to spend your gift budget, whether you are impressing potential in-laws with a treat for high tea or buying tea infused chocolates for your significant other. The Urban Tea Merchant is a lovely and very civilized destination.
Peak Tea Tip: If you want to try a tea that will knock your socks off, ask about their selection of rare teas and see if "Milky Oolong" is in stock. -

This place is fantastic! I went here for the first time after months of hearing a co-worker rave about their teas. I had one of the tea services and it was excellent! They have quite a selection. I would definitely recommend this place.

Amazing! Amazing quality and service. I have shopped here quite a few times and have never been disappointed. I have yet to sit and have one of the tea services, but will for a special occasion. I LOVE this place.

Established in 2004
It was the James' family's world tour that helped inspire The Urban Tea Merchant. They started off in England. The world famous Devonshire cream tea inspired The Urban Tea Merchant's Signature Afternoon tea service. When they went to France they were pleasantly surprised. The French Art of Tea is a gourmet approach that only the French know how to do and it dates back centuries. In those inspirational French surroundings and exquisite tea from around the world came an epiphany for the James' and The Urban Tea Merchant concept was born. After traveling to Turkey, Greece, Egypt, Tanzania, Thailand, India and Bali they realized that The Urban Tea Merchant is going to be a place that offers special service of tea Rituals to capture the elements of culture and tea equipage from different cultures that can be enjoyed both at home and in The Urban Tea Merchant stores.
