Looking for investigative journalism and articles on BC news, issues, politics, arts and entertainment? The Tyee is a solid choice.

    Witty. Critical. Enjoyable.

I love the Tyee. It offers fresh enlightening perspectives from academics, journalists, and political figures who are leaders in their field and have an extensive knowledge in that field/industry. Articles are rolled out with a fruitful, analytical twist. In other words, they're informative, intellectual reads about news and ideas of the day, without the dryness of academia.

Investigation is at its heart. Turn to the Tyee for a deeper understanding of issues in BC. Their journalists dig deep! They investigate public policy documents, corporate positions, trends, case studies, etc and sort through all the clutter to get to the bottom of things! They also cite and provide links to their sources so you can dig deeper yourself.

Its interests are our interests. The beauty of the Tyee is that it speaks on behalf of the people--how changes, government policies, or corporate moves will affect us in the great scheme of things. Unlike the VanSun and the Globe&Mail, it treats and refers to us as citizens rather than consumers, which is huge. It means that they're working to represent us and that they care.

The Tyee is a must-read if you want to get a balanced perspective and a full picture of what's going on in BC. Check it out! :)

I've been trying to read the Tyee but it is so slanted, these guys are singing to the choir. I like to read both points of view but this site is one point of view and they are always whining. How about some good news for a change, not a mention of the Chilean Miners on the site today.

The Tyee is absolutely the first news source you should turn to for big issues in BC. It was created by former Vancouver Sun editor David Beers when he got fed up with the politics surrounding traditional Canadian journalism. Though surely a step down financially, the news he puts out in The Tyee is an amazing achievement in journalism.
Each story, no matter the subject, is epic. Well researched and laid out, The Tyee has some of the most rigorous journalistic standards in Canada today and we're lucky to live in the province covered by its news reporters.
I'll admit I'm never that on top of news or politics so I turn to The Tyee mostly for it's arts coverage which is astounding. Every story is a feature in and of itself. I always find something exciting and new on The Tyee and would recommend it to anyone I knew.
