This is a wonderful children's store!!! Granted, my experience is somewhat limited, not having little ones of my own, but I have a nephew and a niece and lots of children of friends that I feel qualified to give this review.

This place is magical. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about their toy and book selection. I just walk in and mention what I'm there for (2 year old girl birthday, 4 year old Christmas, etc) and they take me on a tour of everything they have that fits the bill. With knowledge not only of what sells well but with experience they've had playing with these toys with children. They run the gamut of very pricey toys to very modestly priced toys - whatever you may be looking for, its there.

They have a games section that includes puzzles and musical "instruments", a plush toy section, an action figure section, a small but beautifully thought out book section and play areas for the little ones that may be with you. And, on their anniversary, they had cake free for everyone that came in and 10% off all products in store!!

Well laid out, environmentally focused with quality wooden and carefully tested plastic items, educational products, beautiful books - did I mention the beautiful books?! - and free gift wrapping to boot.

The Toy Space has made my shopping for little ones oh so easy - and fun too! I love that they are local, have toys made in Canada and isn't just another big box store. If you're trying to buy local, visit The Toy Space!! They have a great website too - always a nice addition to a small store - but I highly recommend going in person to experience it yourself.

Went here for one of my never-often-enough Niece and Uncle days. I figured it would be more interesting than the same old Toys R Us thing.

First off, I hate to nitpick another reviewer, but to whoever complained that there was no parking anywhere in the area: There was a parking lot about a 2 minute walk from the store. I don't know if it's new, but there it was anyway.

I applaud Toy Space for not only catering to much of the educational toy crowd, but also still devoting a lot of space to just the flat-out fun stuff.

They're also cool enough to have a LOT of toys just laying around for the kids to play with, while their parents look annoyed and check their watches, complete with a Thomas train setup, a kiddie house (complete with plush burgers and pies), and musical instruments. The kids books are also within their reach, with little chairs to sit on. If I'm walking funny, it's because I'm pretty sure I absorbed one of them.

The only complaint I can think of is that this place is pretty pricey. Then again, you get what you pay for, and some of this stuff is clearly sent from all over the world.

My niece ended up deciding on a certain noisy instrument that my sister probably hates me for, but we had a great afternoon there.

Hard to get to except by streetcar.  No parking anywhere.

However - there is a train table there, which is KEY if you have a small boy and it's a rainy day and you can't go to the park.

Expensive toy selections - lots of imports from France and UK.

    They've got ICE CREAM!!

Just when you thought that the only place to buy toys was a deliberately clumsily spelt big box store, the Toy Space comes around.  Being in the neighbourhood and all, it's a handy place to get to, and has a ton of fun stuff for younger kids.

The space is a decent size and is crammed with toys and activities that are great for children.  Most to all of the stuff here leans towards the educational without leaving behind the fun element.  Fun is the key and you get the sense that this is the main credo for the store.

If you bring a child in, you'll easily lose a good chunk of the day and will probably leave lighter of pocket once all the wanted items are purchased.  Keep in mind as well that they also serve ice cream.  What's not to love?

Walking through The Toy Space nearly brought me to tears. I found so many wonderful toys that I used to play with when I was a kid. Lately I've been looking for Christmas gifts for my niece only to be so dis-appointed with the mindless crap that stores are selling for children.
This store is a good size  and packed  with wooden toys that the eager sales lady explained to me came from reclaimed rubber-wood. It's refreshing to see a store that cares about our impact on our planet.
So my best finds are: a gigantic fort making kit, a wooden play chicken called the chop chop chicken that you can actually chop and serve to your family, Settlers of Catan (The BEST game ever!), and the chrome airplane that they use as a hairdressing chair in the kids salon in the back! This store is a must see and definitely one of a kind!

This store is right around the corner for me and is full of interesting stuff for kids. Lots of wooden toys from Italy and Thailand, arts and crafts, meccano, a full Thomas selection, dress-up clothes, and a decent puzzle and game section.  My main note is that this store seems to get more and more expensive as the years go by.  The wooden toys from Italy seem particulary expensive.  However, if you've got the money you'll definitely find something fun here!

The Toy Space is the kind of toy store that parents who send their kids to Montessori schools like.  It's not that it's a bad store, but it's just that I've always thought that toys should be fun.  This store reminds us how hard it is for a toy to be both educational and fun at the same time.  The store is light and airy and the staff is cut from the same cloth. They are relatively inattentive and when I visited I received no acknowledgement.  When the toys in this store left the "edu-fun" category, they just simply missed the mark.  The store had a surprisingly large collection of stone elf figurines perfect for poking an eye out or choking on.  I don't recommend this store because their educational toys aren't very good and their non-educational toys are worse.

As a neighbourhood stop it is alright. Educational toy store? I wouldn't put it in that category, there is hardly anything there that would appeal to older kids. They have the usual range of "good quality" toys, Thomas the Tank, Folkmanis puppets etc. They had some neat puzzle books which I don't see everywhere. At the front counter, there were a lot of little items that have kid appeal.
