Review from Sang P.
Most places were closed at late, so I had to whip out Yelp to look for somewhere open. Never heard of this place, never seen it in my life.
Great atmosphere. The musician was impressive with a list of about 100 songs he could play that we could choose from. Pretty good voice that added a lot of fun to the night.
Nothing much to say. Thanks Yelp for the find. Oh and the Bartender might look really mean but he's actually a very kind and nice guy. -

Great Yelp find was this cool little bar in PB. It was Christmas Eve so even the local beach bars were kinda slow. I checked The Tiki House calendar and they listed a Jimmy Lewis, playing at 9:00. We strolled in to a few regulars (all guys) chillin with their beers and a huge mean looking Btender. Uh boy, said our glances to each other.
HMLB turned out to be the friendliest Btender one could ever hope for. Whew! Crowd and owner dude were all friendly as well, and they even have Lucy the house dog spreading her love with the patrons. Loved that.
Jimmy was also much better than we could have hoped for, playing atypical bar songs such as Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters, and Castles Made of Sand. Kats got talent, totally unexpected in this particular time and place.
When in PB, highly recommended. -

i believe the tiki is only place worth going to in PB, besides the tap room (and the soon to open amplified ale room, probably). good music, pretty good brews, cheap to get in, atypical PB-sters. sounds good to me...

Really cool little bar in PB. I don't often go to dive bars, but when I do i go to the Tiki House. Not really, but really I would!
This was my first time at the Tiki Bar, but it certainly won't be my last. Went on a Friday night and there was a cover charge because there was a live band playing that night: The Accidentals. They're a cover band and had a page of available song requests that people could make. The guy at the door was cool and charged the three of us $5 instead of $5 each, which was nice of him.
Draft beers were 3 bucks a pop: Victoria (mexican) and Primo (island lager). both decent beers
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS A BEER AND WINE BAR ONLY!! Don't come here expecting to order shots or whiskey. Also, this place is cash only!!
The crowd was a nice mix of people and has a friendly atmosphere. Recommended! -

I didn't think it would be possible to be at a place where you could drink that is laid back, and not filled with rowdy people off Garnet?
Perhaps my favorite PB small dive bar for the locals with the regulars and live music.
Affordable beer and wine and cash only bar. ATM, juke box and arcade game inside.
Bartender was nice. -

The Tiki has live music beer pool and cool bartenders. Good place to start out.

This is my absolute favorite dive bar in SD, especially PB!
The beers are always cheap!
They have live music most of the time!
There is a pool table!
They are never TOO packed! (so don't come) :~P
It is my ultimate low key spot to grab a couple and hang with some friends.
CASH ONLY, ATM inside if you have a card. -

Nice place, very laid back and chilled compared with the rest of the PB area! Will return!

Review from Mike C.
Just another regular dive bar, but at least it's in PB. I was expecting some exotic cocktails to be served here, but, nope, it's just a name, just beer and booze here. They do have a few tiki statues here and there. There's a unique and distinct smell as you first walk into this place. But you get used to the odor in a matter of minutes.
Hey, their happy hour is pretty cool, $3 on all drafts. Can't really complain about that. They also have a pool table, ATM, a golf video game, a few tv's, jukebox, and a breathalyzer. Bathroom was semi dirty, with a bunch of flies hovering around.
So no mai tai here, I guess a Heineken will suffice.Listed in: 100 bars in 100 days

Following our awesome visit to Lestats we set off to PB in search of live music and fun times.
Not found here. Not my kind of place at all.
We came to Tiki because the bf googled something and it said there was a band playing. As I am not a fan of the dreaded 'cover charge', I wasnt thrilled there was one. Whatever I guess.
We go in and it just felt ick. The 'bar' area was an extremely unattractive storage facility as everything that was on it was junk from a box of popcorn, to stacks of paper to those weird pre-bottled mixers. Strike one.
So we sit down as the band is setting up. Im already suspecting something less than awesome, not good.
One of the bfs friends goes up and orders a few drinks. Wine and beer only? And not good priced beer? Uhh...Strike two.
Band starts playing and it was just what I was suspecting. STRIKE THREE. Enough to make the dudes chug their beers so we could dash out.
FAIL. Wont be returning. Have a great day!Listed in: My Neighborhood, The Places I Go Out - Past and…

Gosh...talk about AWKWARD.
Drunk Devon: "Oh my goddddddd, this place is sweet! How long have you guys been here?"
Bartender: "30 years. We're not new."
Drunk Devon: "Oh..."
Bartender: "Yeah..."
Both of us: "...."
Bartender: "You want some fake tattoos?"
It's a fun little dive bar in the middle of the PB craziness. Definitely for beer drinkers though...no hard liquor is served except for soju (which is only for sweet-toothed suckers). But, Newcastle on tap! I lovvvvvvve Newcastle on tap!
Older patrons and with a nice homey feel. If you're looking to seek respite from the wild antics of nearby Typhoon or Tavern, come on in. Just leave the stilettos and sparkly tops behind.Listed in: Pacific Beach Bars

I went to the Tiki House tonight to see the Bare Bones play. Great Band!
The bar is a weird long hallway with little room to move once it gets a little crowded. The dance floor is actually a pool table, so you have to be creative if you want to dance. Other wise its a fun place with a nice casual dive bar vibe.
The bartenders are wonderful and do a great job keeping the beer flowing. Too bad it's in PB :(Listed in: The Places I Go Out, Places where the parking is…

An awsome watering hole, boiled down to the barfly basics... Dig it:
Cold beer on tap, cold bottles, comfortable stools, no attitude, freindly locals, slightly warpped pool table, straight pool sticks, decent jukebox, live bands in the evening.
If you need a strobe light and a dance floor, look elsewhere. This ain't it. This is Rock and Roll. -

Of course I have to show some love for the Tiki...My sister plays for their Monday night softball team (I have played before and am now just a sub for the team...) and they even helped sponsor her team one year for Over The Line...
This bar is definitely just a little dive bar (Ive heard they play live music some nights but Ive never been around for that...its such a tiny place I dont think I would really enjoy myself if it got way crowded)
Dave is awesome to us every night we stop in after a game...I do hate the fact that its just a beer and wine joint (Im a rum and coke kind of lady) but they do have Soju, I think its called, which was explained to me as being something of an Asian-imported vodka? Sometimes they have chili dogs, or popcorn, or chips...but if you want food you should stop at the mexican food place on the corner before you make your way in. Ive never experienced any super-obnoxious bartenders or patrons, as I often do when in PB...so thats a plus :D -

My favorite dive bar in Pacific Beach for sure.
Tiny little place. A lot of people walk right past it not knowing how laid-back and cool it is inside. Just your neighborhood bar.
The staff is really great. Ryan the bartender is outrageous and funny and will make you a "Drop Your Panties" to start off your night. They actually know what they're doing here and offer some good beers on draft.
I have heard some pretty good bands play here, they always have music going on.
The regulars are pretty awesome too.
I much prefer this place to the other deuchebag college student filled bars in Pacific Beach. -
Review from Denise Q.
If you feel like doing PB drinking (ie. super casual) and you don't feel like dealing with girls in Abercrombie outfits, or that are freshman at UCSD, then go to Tiki House.
Hard core dive bar. They only serve beer I think. Bartenders have been there for decades, as have the day drinkers in here. But don't worry they will welcome you will open arms, even if they look like they wouldn't, they will.
This is not the place to show off your new Steve Maddens espadrilles, because no one here really cares. This is the place to get some beer, be able to talk to people, and to not deal with the riff raff in the streets.

Van Nuys, CA
Small venue, but lots of fun. No frills or pretentious drinks here, just good ol' dive bar fun. I went here last week and they had this guy on guitar doing covers of a wide range of songs, on the smallest stage the world has ever seen; very good stuff. They've got a decent selection of good beers on tap and bottled.
If you're looking to relax and grab a few drinks, and get away from the over-crowded PB bars, packed with the newly-turned-21-year-olds, you've found your watering hole.
FYI, credit cards not accepted, but they've got an ATM in the front with a $1.50 surcharge. Drinks are pretty cheap, so you won't need to pull too much from the ATM. -

Cool little place in the muck of of PB. I played here a couple times during my band days. There was barely room for the four of us on the stage. We loved playing there. They have music of lot of nights and it fun even when there isn't.
Pretty standard bar, except the size is small and perfect for that reason. The staff is also great. Great place to stop in for a drink, and mingle with some regulars. -

A dive bar in san diego!!! who would have thunk it...
we stopped in for a tall boy and to relex for a bit, the place was dead ass empty on a friday night, and i loved it.. well minus the two homeless folks in the corner.. that was sort of creepy! but they played good music, the beer was cheap.. not a lot of stuff going on here otherwise i might have gave you a better score... -

My friend and I were looking for a dive bar in PB last night and stumbled upon this place. I was worried about being underdressed in my ripped jeans, sneakers, and UK baseball shirt....until we walked in here. Ahhhh, I was at home.
"Only have beer?" "Super, gimme a Coor's Light".
The band playing was typical, run-of-the-mill dive bar band, but the more you drank, the better they sounded...works for me.
The bartender was completely cool, the ambiance was relaxed, I'll definitely be back. -

San Diego, CA
Great music, great beer, and no douches.
It is the perfect storm of beer and live music with a decidedly unpretentious vibe. The place is NOT glamorous. You will not see a group of skinny 21 year old girls in $200 dresses dancing gaily with their arms in the air. There is little to no gelled hair, and button down shirts are sparse. The mix of characters is always colorful, and the band is usually pretty damn good (if you are a few rounds deep into the jamesons at least). Stop by when you just want beer and entertainment, or if you are obliterated, and you will not be disappointed. -

This is a pretty cute watering hole in Pacific Beach, I have a friend whose band plays here on certain Wednesdays, but I have only been here to grab a drink on a Monday because they have a dollar off all micro brews. It is not a bad deal and I think the tropical decor is cute.
However, if you want to go to better tropical-themed bar I suggest the Tiki Lounge in downtown, they have better drinks and an exquisite menu as well, but The Tiki House is lot cheaper.
I think the only reason I would go back is to catch my friend's band. Otherwise, there are better bars in PB. -

Bonita, CA
despite it's narrow and small space I actually had a good time. The guitar player was great and I actually sang-a-along to his music. It's an interesting bar cuz against the wall are benches that are high up.
I'd definitely go back here -

Tiki is a small, dark, beer-only dive bar in PB. They often have live bands even though the room is tiny and not audience-friendly at all, but it is nice to feel like the place is sold out for every small local act that stops by. When music is not happening it goes back to dive bar mode, with friendly bartenders and beer drinkers galore.

I was here yesterday for this first time; not only at Tiki House but in PB. I have to say that if places in PB are like this than I will definitely be coming back.
The bartender was very friendly, as was the doorman, I think his name was Toby? Its just a great little place with a nice beer selection and easy going crowd.
The live music is also always a great bonus! Especially when they're playing the classics. -

Great place. Dave, the owner, is a great guy. Bartenders are nice and this is a great local bar with all kinds of character. You can always get a seat and a smile. I recommend the Tiki.

Don't try ordering shots at this Beer Only bar. Tiki House is very small, but a very laid-back and comfortable dive bar. There's also often a band playing here, but there can also be a cover. It's a fun place, prices are reasonable and it's a nice break from the typical Pacific Beach crowd (need I explain them? you know who I mean).

Phoenix, AZ
this is a very cool bar in PB. While most of the bars are filled with popped collar douchebags, the crowd here is diverse, interesting, and a lot of fun. There were girls celebrating their newly found whoredom, surfers with locks, old people, tourists, and your run of the mill kids. No douchebaggetry here. There was even an acoustic guitarist playing a variety of cover songs, and the beer is cheap.

This place is pretty small. It was the 6th stop on our pub crawl. They had a live band, and no cover on Saturday night. The band was pretty good. They did a radiohead cover which is pretty cool.

Finally came here on St. Paddy's day. I was surprised how small it actually was. Probably the smallest bar in PB?? It surprisingly was the least crowded of bars that night in crazy town. An awesome acoustic Australian singer was there to entertain all of us. He had a wonderfully sexy voice. Its a cash only bar, so that sucked. The local guys that worked there were very patient will all the Irish drunks and it turned out to be a good night for all. I always thought this place was sketchy just by walking by it.... think again. Do not always judge a book by its cover. Lesson Learned!

It's a great alternative if you want to go to a bar in PB but you don't want to wait in line for 45 minutes or deal with all the drunk college kids.
They usually have good bands that play there, but the stage is small and funny because it wraps around the pool table.
My band used to have a monthly gig here and the staff and owner are all great people. -

Only bar I will every go to in PB. Definitely a cheers vibe here.
The owner Dave is awesome and has been there for over 25 years. Go there once and he'll always remember you. Super cool guy.
They have great live music almost every night of the week and a pool table which I am a fan of.
And they have a great selection of beer and wine!
This place kicks ass over Typhoon and Tavern any day of the week!! -

Went here after a friend's foreign ID was not accepted in any of the typical PB douchebag venues, and thank goodness, because to be honest, they aren't exactly something I feel I couldn't live without, especially examining the types of people gathering in the lines outside. Tiki House not only accepted her ID, but the bartender was friendly and we had a good conversation with her. It was nice to be able to just sit down on a bar stool and talk about life and our great pursuits and all of the crazy people we know! The drinks are cheap and very satisfying. They had a solo guy playing live covers on a tiny stage with his guitar, and he picked a good selection of oldies but goodies! (Oldies for me=anything in the 90's or before! :p) I enjoyed my trip down memory lane. It's a hidden gem, and I guess a "dive bar," but I don't fully understand the true definition of a dive bar yet, so I'm hesitant to use that term.
