Review from Adam D.
Really like this place, a client of mine recommended it and it was awesome. Im really hesitant when it comes too exotic foods but all was good. The atmosphere reminded me of Mexico, Ive been there plenty and well I felt I nwas there until I looked out the window of course and saw the snow. I cant remember the name of the food we ordered but it was #21 really spicy and #22 . Both items were really tasty and the service was great. One issue is that this places are near junior high schools so iuf you go there during lunch might be a line and mite have pees with attitude lounging around. I will be a return customer. Keep it up

I had a craving for tamales and hoped Three Amigos would hit the spot. Sadly, our dinner didn't live up to the quality we enjoyed in our prior visit. I adore Mexican food so I was very disappointed by this evening.
They were unable to keep up with the number of diners, once seated we waited very long periods to order drinks, to get drinks, to get the complementary fresh tortilla chips and salsa, to place our order, to get our order and to get cutlery for our food. it took a long time to be very disappointed by the food and drinks.
We had to ask for the salsa when our meals arrived, despite requesting extra when we ordered. The mild salsa was tasteless, and the hot was hot but lacked flavour.
The food hit the table luke-warm. My tamales were disappointing, the corn dough seemed old and overly dense and the stuffing was meh. Hubby's tacos dorados (which looked a lot like flautas) looked over-fried and were also bland.
The drinks were off too, my gin and soda arrived gin and 7. Milk (for the hubbies broken leg) was room temperature and tasted odd, not quite sour but not right. Maybe it was powdered milk- ick.
There was live entertainment - a mariachi player serenaded the room without stoping the entire time we were there (about 2 hours). A break would have been nice. It was charming but not always exactly skillful. It's not easy to play and sing for hours on end, so I'd cut him some slack.
The meal came to $38 before tip. It felt like a $12 meal without the drinks. Next time i have a tamale craving I'm headed to the west end. -

I've been there twice now and the first time service was not great by any stretch of the word, but this time it was awful.
You've probably heard the word "awful" describing service before. Sometimes it might have been a little harsh, sometimes well deserving. In this instance "awful" is the nicest possible way to explain the quality of service we received.
For starters, there was 30 minutes between our starters and drinks being dropped off and seeing not only our waiter, but any waiter who could get us cutlery and napkins to eat it with or new drinks.
When we finally seen someone we asked for cutlery, napkins, and another round of beers. 30 minutes later it all arrived along with a promise that our food was on its way out.
45 minutes later and seconds before we were about to walk out our food arrived. Our beers were empty so we ordered another round and quite directly told the waiter to bring them immediately which he actually did that time.
When the waiter returned with our beers we also asked for the check. We didn't want to spend 30+ minutes waiting to pay like the table next to us did. In fact we looked around and there was not a happy face in the room. People were looking as ticked off as we were.
The food was mediocre at best. No where near the quality we received the first time we were there. We didn't even get the free nachos like we did the first time, but a few other tables did.
Finally we were done and went to pay at the till. Just as he was about to take our payment the phone rang. He asked if we minded waiting just a moment while he took their order. I thought it was rude, but whatever - I wasn't planning on tipping at this point anyway. So he finished that order and came back to us. Again the phone rings and he asks us the same thing again, this time I said I do mind, put them on hold. He literally ignored what I said and took their order anyway. We walked out without paying, I doubt they even noticed.
We will NEVER be back here. This was the worst service I ever experienced and it is unacceptable. Restaurants that provide that type of service should not be in business. -

We drove almost all across town to come to Three Amigos. It wasn't my first choice as that was Ajucta. Unfortunately they were closed Monday and Tuesday. It wasn't even my second choice. I was going to try El Ranchero for the first time but they were closed Monday and Tuesday as well.
I decided to follow some of the Yelpers and try this "recommended" restaurant.
Short review, this was a huge disappointment that only got worse as the $82 bill came. Now I have absolutely no problem paying ridiculous amounts for good food. I love to eat. This was sub par, bland food at a ridiculous price. It would have been expensive at $40 and I would have felt ripped off.
I'm not sure what authentic means to other Yelpers but this place was bland and overpriced. I will not go back, nor will I even mention the place to anyone I know. A truly forgettable Taco Bell type of experience. Skip this one. Brutal. -

Finally made it to this hidden gem. We arrived early on a Friday night and were quickly transported away. The place feels like a neighbourhood stop in Mexico miles away from the tourist strip, and that is a good thing. The food is not tex-mex - nothing is coated in melted yellow cheese and that is another good thing.
We started with tortilla chips and sauce -- not really a salsa as it was just liquid and served in a kitchen thimble which made dipping impossible. It did have good flavour and a nice kick.
My enchilada with mole was good. The marinated meat was lovely and the beans were good and the rice unmemorable. My son had the beef tacos and thought they were good, not great. The amount of food for the price seems reasonable.
Part way through dinner, a strolling singer/guitarist started playing. He was quite good and it did complete the scene.
All in all, a nice find. Might not drive across town for it, but would pick this over a chain place any day. -

Three Amigos (not to be confused with Tres Carnales) is a small Mexican restaurant that has delicious, delicious food. I came here with some fellow yelpers one evening and we all enjoyed our meal. I went with the tamales here and thought they were pretty good and filling. Tamales tend to be a bit high on the carb side but they did a good job putting a reasonable amount of delicious chicken to make the tamale most flavorful. Served with a side of beans and salsa, this makes for one delicious evening meal.
The ambiance here is very relaxed. Somebody said it's like a Mexican dive in Los Angeles. I love that comparison. I don't know if the food is 100% Mexican homeland food but that certainly doesn't bother me. They serve up burritos, tacos, quesadillas, tamales, entree-style dishes and a lot of affordable snacky options as well.
They have a small list of beers, including Dos Equis. I'm not a huge beer person, so I went with a margarita. Just two varieties - lemon and strawberry and I went with the lemon. Come here expecting a modest restaurant with a few options. I like that the place is also reasonably quiet inside. There isn't too much noise.
One big downside for me (and hence the three stars) is that I think they're a little expensive! The entrees are filling but not super filling and cost roughly $15. If you're hear to share some appetizers, get an entree and a drink expect to spend about $25 per person. I don't think it's ridiculously expensive, but just a tad. I'd have been happy to have a meal under $20.Listed in: Yelpathon

To my fellow Yelpers, I salute you. I heard this was the place to go for authentic Mexican food and I needed to get my nacho on.
I mentioned it to a friend of mine who was in dire search of a new Mexican restaurant ever since his favorite closed down. I believe I might have found him his new favorite Mexican restaurant.
Upon walking in, you'll notice that they do have take out which is very assuring in case it gets too busy or you're in a rush. The dining area is quaint with deep blue walls, Mexican music videos playing on flat panel tv's and trumpets and guitars playing soothing sounds of the land below. Very nice touch indeed.
Our server came by and we started off with some authentic soda, Jarrito's (which they serve at Mucho as well), and munched on some one of the finest guac and salso with warm nachos I've ever feasted upon. Glancing at their drink menus, they even carry some exotic and authentic tequila, olé!
My friend ordered some tamales and I just ordered a plate of nachos with guac and chicken strips.
The plate of nachos were average in size but the taste was of high calibre. The cheese was a white mozarella which was nice to see with olives and jalepenos. The chicken wasn't marinated but had a tinge of salt which tasted refreshing and heartwarming. I'm glad it wasn't too salty as I usually expect that from places like Moxies or Original Joes.
With the thick guac and unique salsa, there was an edge of sincerity which did bring me back to Mexico.
Although I didn't try the tamale, my friend did really savor it and claimed that Three Amigos did win him over.
The waiter came by a couple of times to check up on us and made friendly small talk which won us points.
Down to earth staff, impeccable washroom. Decently priced ($14.00 for nachos, $3.00 for the Jarrito's).
Muy Bien! -

I had an awesome time at Three Amigos last night. I live pretty close by, so how had I not been here before? This place rocks.
Maybe it's because I was totally starving (hello, no groceries in the house post-vacation!) but my food was killer. I had the burritos nacheros or something (don't judge me), basically two soft tortillas filled with chicken, and topped with lettuce, special salsa, and cheese. So yummy, and just the right amount of spice.
The inside is really nothing special, although it was a lot bigger than I thought it would be from the outside. But great food and cold beers made the experience worth raving about. I'll definitely be back here, and I think I'll get dessert next time, too! -

Seeing as my birthday just happens to coincide with Cinco de Mayo I like to celebrate my birthday with a liitle more Mexican flare despite the fact that there isn't a trace of Mexican in my blood whatsoever. Still questioning myself as to why I have yet to be in Mexico for my birthday either?
After trying this little piece of mexico in my own backyard I was ready to throw a Fiesta! I went with friends and ordered the best tasting lime margarita I had ever tasted! It wasn't the last I ordered either! We were given some warm chips and delicious salsa to dip into while going over the menu and deciding on our entres.
My friends ordered up a shrimp cocktail sort of appetizer (sorry can't remember the name of it right now) and it was absolutely delicious! I can still taste the spicy goodness in my mouth and am now developing a craving for! I ordered up a plate of enchiladas and was impressed with the serving. Not piled up and not holding back either. It was a fantastic dish and I enjoyed everything about it including the refried beans!
I found the atmosphere to be nice although the tables and chairs could use a bit of an upgrade to be a little more comfortable (not that they were so uncomfortable). There was a TV in the back of the restaurant playing a video of a Mariachi band to help provide more of an authentic Mexican experience. A real mariachi band would have been better, but where the heck are you gonna find one of those on in Edmonton?
All in all a great Mexican experience and looking forward to spending my next birthday there! Heck, I may even go when it's not my birthday just to have another fun experience! -

Anytime you go for Mexican food at a place that features a "Donair special" (presumably in an attempt to drum up in-and-out business, to stay afloat) you may want to reconsider.
Terrible food at a terrible price. -
Review from Alan C.
Went here a while ago with some people from Yelp, being fairly excited to try perhaps some more authentic Mexican food than experienced before.
I went for the chicken enchiladas, and found myself fairly disappointed. The enchiladas themselves were fairly dry and flavorless, even with the sauce on them. It came with beans and rice - the rice was fairly dry as well, and I found the taste and texture of the beans not to my liking.
Based on the reviews of others and what the people I was there with had to say, I'd be willing to go back and give something else on the menu a try, but my first visit was disappointing! -

Great little place for an evening of conversation. The service took longer than it should have and there was no excuse but there was a guy there playing guitar to keep us entertained. The food was really good.

The authenticity of the Mexican food here cannot be questioned. Either you're a Mexican or Mexicant (bahahahahaha).
I enjoyed the enchilada dish that I tried, but I feel the prices are a bit high relative to portion size. Also, we brought a groupon to the dinner and the terms were modified on arrival. That didn't seem too cool to me. -

went there on a weekday with my wife. what i
liked about that place is that they played these
random mexican shows on the big screen tv.
some might say it is too loud and distracting.
but nah its just right. i mean it isn't a romantic
restaurant to begin with.
its hard to give a higher score to this joint because
i have enjoyed a lot of mexican restaurants in
california. and the quality and the quantity both are
higher back there. i do love the complimentary
salsa. its a great touch. and with the mexican beer.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh. the best. some commented
that the portions are huge but i didn't think so.
the flavor was pretty good. i had a steak marinated
in beer. and enjoyed it. but was disappointed they
didn't have their flan. only churros. fried food for dessert?
hmm...i wish we had another option but we had it
anyways! our russian server was friendly too and we
were pretty satisfied.
however....we found the bill a little expensive. it was
a tuesday or a wednesday and all entrees were supposed to
be 10% off. 2 entrees. 2 beers. 1 dessert. all for $60+?
including a nice tip...i don't know something just doesn't
add up. i wish they'd show me the bill instead of me just
having to go to the cashier cause the bill still bothers me
to this day! -

Went here for the first time this week for supper on a Friday night. The place was very busy--all tables full--from 6:30 when we arrived until 8:30 when we left.
The only real disappointment (slight) was the sangria which cost $30 for a pitcher and seemed to be concocted of red wine and tang. (There was no fruit in the sangria.) But it tasted "okay."
The food was amazingly good and it all tasted home-cooked. Apparently the owners of this restaurant are from Mexico and it shows. The enchiladas with mole sauce were fantastic. (The menu said "mole and feta cheese," but the feta cheese was so miniscule it looked like a light sprinkling of salt.) Nevertheless, the overall meal was great. The re-fried beans were black beans, which is different, but delicious. We loved it all, and did not have any tummy or bowel upsets, which I always feel is a sign that the food is fresh and the kitchen is clean.
Our server was cheerful and quick, recommending that in the future we call for reservations, as Friday and Saturday nights are VERY busy.
We were surprised at how "authentic" the little restaurant felt, and will definitely be returning. Expect to spend $15 - $17 for an entree.
Do NOT go to this restaurant if your idea of "great Mexican food" is Taco Bell, Taco Time, Burrito Libre or any of those other chain restaurants. -

The Three Amigos serves food that is full of flavour without being salty or greasy (like taco bell).
The price is good and the portions are what you pay for. Inside was a bit dull but that didn't really bother me. This place attracts all kinds of people and I've noticed it attracts people who you don't usually see at fast food places.
Three Amigos is definitely worth checking out, it's pretty authentic and beats out something like taco bell any day. -

This place is quite far from where i live. We drive 40mins just to eat here. We discovered it on our gps one sunday afternoon and decided to try it out. amazing. I always order they're empandas dish. Comes with 3or 4 empanadas your choice of chicken or beef. on the side rice//beans and the mexican flag, avacado, salsa, and sour cream. separate comes totillas and I always order a jarrito.=lime. lol. My husband always gets his dish which is a steak dish he enjoys. This is a good serving portion too. You don't feel overwhelmed by the amount or have a huge stomach ache after your done lol. I recommend you trying it out at the annual latin fest, they had a tent up last year. Very tasty and fresh. Also they bring out a fresh batch of nachos, still warm with salsa. Super good service!!! Will visit when in area!!!!

Loved it! Good authentic Mexican food in a suburban strip mall. Must go back for the super sized marguerita.

We had dinner here last week and it was ok, but nothing to make us want to return. The television was on quite loud and if the restaurant was full, this place would be very noisy. I think what really disappointed us was that I had the chicken empanadas and couldn't find more than one tiny piece of chicken in one of them and nothing but potatoes in the other two. My partner had a shrimp and cheese dish in a folded tortilla and again could only find a couple of small shrimps. The flavour of the cheese and peppers was very tasty but the noticeable absence of shrimp was a bit offputting. I'd rather pay a bit more and not have them skimp on the ingredients. Also, we've travelled quite a bit in Mexico and te salsa tasted rather bland and I don't think more peppers would have improved it. I touch of lime and some cilantro might have though. Maybe we caught them on an off night or the regular cook was off.
