Love love this place! Staffs are friendly and very helpful. Reasonable prices. I feel like a princess every time I come here. Eminence facial is amazing!!! The Studio is my favorite pamper place! :)

I purchased a deal for an express manicure and gel polish application for this place and I went in on Sunday to get my nails done. The "nail salon" is the first first, where you walk into this place and it's a little small but wonderfully decorated. They have two nail technicians - so two desks to get manicures done at and 2 pedicure stations.
Yanna did my nails and unfortunately the job done was not very good. The gel polish I had chosen had sort of...shrunk quite a bit so it looked like I had had my nails done a week and a half ago instead of the day of. There were also bubbles and the color wasn't very opaque - the calcium deposits on my nails showed through and it was very noticeable. After much deliberation (trying to decide if I was just being picky or if it really was a bad nail job) I called the salon to touch up and make fixes to my nails. They asked me to come in the same day (I called Monday) but I couldn't make it in so I opted for today.
Well - I am very happy with the "touch up". I arrived 10 minutes early and Yanna took me right away. She told me she had gotten a new color which was more opaque and brighter than the one I had previously chosen (I had wanted NEON bright when I showed up, but chose the closest thing to). I was surprised that she was going to completely re-do the polish! She even snipped my cuticles and filed my nails down a bit when she totally didn't have to as she was just to be fixing the polish. I thought going in to get her to fix my nails would be awkward, but it wasn't at all! Overall - my nails look much better and I am happy with the end result.
This salon gave GREAT customer service! I'm definitely going to pay extra for a french manicure the next time I go there. The only thing that turns me off about the manicure is that the polish isn't directly to the cuticle. But I was advised they do this on purpose. Just a heads up if you're use to having polish applied right up to the cuticle!
I would recommend Yanna for sure! -

i love this spa! Not only is it chic and trendy, their staff are all super nice and friendly! I absolutely love their eminence facial! It may just put you to sleep!

This is the most unique spa/studio I have ever been to. I searched and searched for one when I went back home to England and absolutely nothing compared. Infact...I have searched for something simple on all of my traveling adventures and have no luck. I love Vancouver and I love The Studio! I bring all of my friends here! Birthdays...you know what your getting...gift cards and cute stocking filler gifts! So perfect! Certainly a one-stop-shop.
Perfect to come alone, with a friend, your mom/dad/nan/sis/aunt/etc or even in a big group! Affordable prices, high quality service, AMAZINGLY COOL STAFF, unique retail for shopping lovers like myself and of course...the most beautiful surroundings I have ever witnessed in a spa. Classy, posh, glitzy yet completely casual and relaxed all at the same time. This studio caters for everyone. Even men! Especially those Davie St men...;-P
Its a place to come "hang out" and get pampered. My kind of place!

What a fantastic experience!
I bought a deal from http://SocialShopper.com a couple of months back for "Full Face Makeup or Bridal Trial" at The Studio. As soon as I saw it I scooped it right up because I was getting some professional photos done and man am I happy I did! I called The Studio and explained that my shoot was at 10am on a Sunday which meant that I had to have my hair and makeup done by 9:30am, Mika immediately told me it wouldn't be a problem and also mentioned she had a friend who could do my hair for a reasonable price. They both agreed to come in EXTRA early on a Sunday morning just to accomodate me. I was really impressed with their dedication. Not sure what I would have done without them!
A few weeks later I showed up bright eyed and bushy tailed at The Studio on Hornby St and walked in. The Studio reminds me of backstage at a professional theatre or the glamourous powder room of a movie star. The room is very comfortable with perfect lighting and lots of fun knick knacks. The atmosphere is comfortable, relaxing and so inviting. I could have moved right in if they'd let me! Even from the street The Studio looks like a warm and inviting home. You immediately gravitate towards the window.
I was there at 8am on Sunday morning (the morning after the time change so really it was 7am!!) and there was Mika's friend, Faye, to do my hair. We chatted comfortably and she asked me what I was looking for with my hair and quickly whipped up the perfect style. I asked for lots of curl and volume and to lay on the hairspray as my shoot was outside in the pouring rain. She styled it perfectly so that even if I got rained out, my hair would still look wonderful. I can tell you that it got pretty soggy out there but, true to her word, my hair was perfect!
At around 8:30am Mika came down to start doing my makeup. She listened to my preferences and worked like a true professional. I looked like I had a brand new face! I told her I really wanted my eyes to pop and did they ever! She even touched up my chipped nail polish and fixed my eyelash extensions. She truly is a professional and wants everyone leaving her studio to look their best.
I'd never had my makeup done professionally before and it was an intimidating experience in my head but as soon as I entered the studio I was calm. The atmosphere is so comfortable that you cannot help but relax. The Studio does everything from eye lash extensions to spray tanning, from Mani/Pedis to Waxing and massage.
Being from Vancouver I am so used to the flourescent lighting in those express nail bars that you find popping up on every corner. You are rushed in and rushed out with no conversation (except when listening to the employees chatter at each other) and a huge language barrier between you and the technician while she asks you if you want your nails rounded or square. Those places can be stress inducing and I find it very difficult to relax. The Studio is completely the opposite. It's more like hanging out with some girlfriends who are doing their best to make you look awesome!
Make sure you come in a check it all out. You'll be happy you did. -

I've been to the Studio twice to see Yana for a french fill (gel nails).
Yana is great. I've been getting my nails done for 12 years by the same person, Angela Lee, but she has moved to Langley and that is just too far for me to go for a fill!
Anyhow, back to Yana being great! She listens to me and always does her best to give me exactly what I'm asking for. Why 4 stars? Under normal circumstances, it would be 5, but I'm hunting for the perfect nails to replace my beloved Angela :) I have definitely recommended Yana to colleagues and friends who have told me about their awesome experiences at the Studio!
The Studio is an adorable little place oh so conveniently located near my work. -

Mika definitely knows what she's doing! I loved the makeup job she did for my engagement photos. Absolutely perfect! In addition, the salon was very comfortable feeling, and very clean. I will definitely be back. Thank you again, Mika!

Mika's new Hornby Street studio is absolutely adorable and incredibly comfortable. The pedicure chairs are huge and luxurious which adds to the stress-relieving experience. Yana performed my manicure, which is flawless. She is skilled and has obviously had a lot of experience. She was also very helpful in helping me select the right colors to achieve the look I was going for. I'm rough on my hands (lots of baking and washing dishes) but five days later, the polish job is still perfectly intact. Not only did Yana give me a great service, she helped me with my Italian during the process! She is Russian but lived in Italy for seven years - thoroughly enjoyed chatting with her, although didn't feel forced to. She is extremely laid-back but focused. Thank you so much Mika and Yana - I will see you again very soon.

Have you seen this girl's website and how many compliments she gets??? It's insane! Like she needs another good review added but I say it's important because now that I am a avid on-line group coupon buyer I sometimes wonder if it compromises the quality of the service. I was fortunate to get a coupon for this spa and Mika herself did my facial and massage. She was professional, attentive and best of all she had the magic touch. No joke I've been to many spas for facials and massages. Mika made me feel like I was on cloud 9! When it was over I felt like I was floating out of there. There was no pressure in sales which I appreciate. They recommended one particular product but I was also looking for the daily regime package that was for my skin. They carry Eminence products but I didn't know which ones to get. Mika should've written a list of productsto give to the other front-end girl. The only thing I didn't like was the towel that was used many times during my facial on my face started to become irritating. If it was a softer material then it would've been better. Meaning my skin became sensitive to so much wiping. Hence the four star rating. Other then that Mika is very through and the facial has lots of steps. I noticed a positive difference on my skin! Love the decor!
