This was a fun place to catch a hockey game (in the bar) and have a couple of pints. It happened to be $2 taco night, and the three spicy fish tacos were perfect.

This place changed since when I last visited. The service is still great. The atmosphere is still fun. The drink selection still works for me. The problem is that the menu has changed as they are trying to become more sustainable. I don't have a problem with sustainability but why does that mean I can't get shepherd's pie anymore?
If the menu had more traditional pub fare such as the above mentioned shepherd's pie, bangers and mash, ploughman's lunch, as well as more fish and chips options I would easily give this restaurant a 4 star rating. -

Lunch specials were great. For 10 bucks we got a large burger and fries.
Pints were well priced and the service was good. Locals recommended it and glad they did. -

We were looking for a place to eat dinner for our group of 5, with 2 more joining us later. We hadn't tried the Sticky Wicket, so decided to go there. Our waitress must have been new...she was TERRIBLE! The 5 of us ordered our drinks and dinner. Drinks arrived sporadically. Our other 2 friends arrived, and since they had already eaten dinner, just ordered drinks. Finally our dinners arrived. The restaurant didn't seem that busy, but we felt we had to wait a LONG time to get our meals. My salad had no dressing on it. None. Flagged down the waitress and eventually got a small cup of dressing. But no apology. Food was just so-so.
A bit later, the waitress came back, put her hand on the table and got her face right into the faces of our friends and DEMANDED that they order food. Apparently this is a "family" restaurant, and one cannot order drinks without food. (Even though the rest of us had ordered meals.) Ok, fine. But she could have been MUCH more tactful and polite about it, without getting into their faces. They ended up ordering a small appetizer, which they didn't want (and didn't eat) and which arrived cold and greasy.
The last straw though, was getting charged for our son's ice cream. It was supposed to be included with the kids meal. When we apprised the waitress of this oversight, she agreed to remove the charge. (Incidently charge was NOT removed from our final bill.) Then to top it all off, they have a hand held device for running the credit card charge, which she then handed to my husband to sign. Since the screen was in French, he asked her to change it to English (never got changed) and then proceeded to stand over him while he signed it. So in addition to the device screen still being in French, he felt a bit crowded and rushed.
They apparently cater the to bar crowd, and don't care about families. Food wasn't great, drinks were weak, service was TERRIBLE. We will not be back, and do not recommend this place to anyone. -

I went here two years ago and had a great time, and decided to try it again. I was looking for something lighter, and went with the fish curry. My wife has the salad and salmon chowder. We were both delighted with our choices. The bang for the buck was a little low, and the service was a bit meh, but the overall experience was fine.
I will be going back. -

Not great, not bad.
The fish was good (as was my wife's burger from what I hear) but the service was lack-luster. Friendly but not very attentive. -
Review from Willy W.
The primary reason that we came here was to watch a World Cup match (Brazil vs Ivory Coast specifically). It just so happens that the food & service was also pretty good. Actually the fish (halibut) & chips that I had ordered wasn't that great. The fish was kinda dry, but the fries were good. Other items ordered this day included a bison burger, a salmon omlette and some stuff from the bar that was on tap.
But the atmosphere was nice and the welcoming staff made up for it. There were tons of other fans watching the game on what seemed like 20 different screens.
So I'd recommend this pub as a place to watch something and otherwise just hang out and grab a bite to eat. -

Great atmosphere and decent pub food. Been here a number of times and have always left happy. Drinks are a decent price too. They have amazing burgers and sandwiches. Their fries are really good too. Nachos are yum!
Every time I've been here everything was goodl except for this most recent time - the first time I've been here in half a year or so. Service was slow - we had to wait up to an hour for our food. Someone had ordered soup for an appy and that took almost half an hour to get to our table - how hard is it to ladle some soup?? Our server wasn't very helpful and it was very difficult to find him. They weren't busy - I've seen them a LOT busier before. So I don't know what happened. The worst thing was I ordered their seafood linguine and ended up getting sick from it. Maybe they were just having a bad night, but I highly doubt I'll be going back there for a meal - maybe just snacks and bar food if I do. -

We were recently in Victoria for two days, and ironically the best meal I ate was here at the Sticky Wicket. I had the Organic Bison Shepherd's Pie and it was quite spicey and delicious. My wife had the bangers and mash but the sausages were not as good as those we had in pubs in London last year.
While we didn't take advantage of it, the Sticky Wicket does have a large game room in the back with pool tables, darts, and another bar. Also, upstairs on the roof there is a volleyball court which we did not check out.Listed in: Victoria

We only played darts and had a couple of beers. I would never go here for food or to hang out with friends after 9pm.

Came here for the After Party. It showed all the sports games on the TVs, then turned into a night-club. We drank alot here and enjoyed the time. The food was pretty good, though the burgers were alittle greasy. It's bar food. The waiters and bartenders are nice.
NOTE: when it's a club, they only take cash. -

came in for dinner on a saturday-- they had a good amount of business but were friendly and sat us right away. service was attentive and patient when it took us a second to figure out what we wanted.
a couple of us got fish 'n chips, it only came with one piece but it was almost the size of my hand (4 oz pc) and with the fries it was more than enough. I got french onion soup & a beef dip, neither the best i've ever had but not bad either.
all in all everything was good & it was a nice place to grab dinner. not necessarily anything special to specifically go there for but there wasn't anything bad that stood out in my mind. -

It was a while ago that I was here and I don't remember anything about the food or the service. What I do remember is playing on their rooftop beach volley ball court.
I really hope they still have that cause it was incredible. -

I think this is one of those bars where it makes a difference the day of the week it is. The first time I came was great, there was karaoke and dancing and it was very packed with people. The second time was during the week and there weren't many people. The business space is huge so when there aren't many people it feels very dead.

I've been here a few times, and I find things to be consistant every time I come in. Service is great, and the food is excellent with nice-sized portions.
The burgers are really good! My friend is a vegetarian, and he is a fan of their veggie burger. One time I had there Nachos, and it's a HUGE plate of nachos. You will definitely want help with it! Another friend of mine had their chicken wings, which she said were very good too. Their French Onion soup is awesome! One of the best I've had in fact.
Hockey is playing on the big screens, and the atmosphere is very nice. I would definitely recommend coming here for a nice lunch. I have not yet been disappointed. -

I came here before the Tokyo Police Club show to grab a few beers as I figured the band wouldn't start until 9:30 or so. Got to enjoy a few Canadian beers as well as an amazing homemade veggie burger with sweet potato fries. Really good food surrounded by good people. Plus they have pool tables, darts, and a huge screen to catch that American football!

I have not been to the Wicket in years, but we headed straight here for dinner on Friday Night after our arrival on the Clipper. Started at Big Bad Johns..that place hadn't changed a bit..our waiter was johnny on the spot, we got our drinks quickly, and chatted for a bit. We were all hungry so on to the restaurant we went. Got seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly and full of great info. We are a little older than their Friday night crowd, so she suggested a couple of spots that we might enjoy. The crowd was great for people watching..I guess the mini skirt is back, way back!! holy cow!! All for of us ordered the prime rib with Shrimp and Bearnaise sauce, it came with winter veggies, and garlic mashed potatoes..Out of this world!! The best meal we had that weekend.
We did come back and have lunch on Sunday before heading home, and it was great, too. In fact we wished that we had eaten all of our meals here. Thank you Wicket, for a wonderful meal and great memories!! -

was in victoria for a quick stay, and we headed over to the sticky wicket pub for a couple pints and to watch the soccer game.
a large pool table took up most of the space, and there were patrons dotted around the bar keeping mostly to themselves and/or watching the game. the beer was great, but otherwise nothing too out of the ordinary. -

Meat Market. Since I'm no longer of the age where Meat Markets appeal to me, I'd have to say I didn't like it much. However, it was packed and the younger hip crowd seemed to be having a good time.

I give the Sticky Wicket a solid 4 stars & its Rooftop bar 1 star. The Sticky Wicket is cool- relaxed and cosy atmosphere, many beers on tap, friendly & british sounding service, and quaint british decorations. The Rooftop is really strange. The concept is fine however the actual place is lacking in every way. As a Southern California resident, I love beachy decor however The Rooftop's beachy decor is offputting, unsettling, and disgenuine. The bar is just trying so hard to be something its not & it gives the whole place a strange, uncomfortable vibe. The service was rude, they made us move after seating us because we weren't ordering food, and place is covered in tenting so it's not as outdoors as it should be, and yeah, we decided to chug our beers & get the hell out of there down to the indoor Sticky Wicket pub below.

I'm not sure why I keep letting people drag me here, Victoria has so much better to offer. I decided I'd give the wicket one more chance before writing this review, as expected it did not disappoint... my expectations of mediocrity. Nope, mediocre is exactly what it was... again.
Three of us sat down for lunch, the restaurant was far from busy, we were seated quickly. After everyone closed their menu it took 10-15 minutes to have our order taken (a little long given how empty it was). We all ordered burgers off the daily specials menu, it took a full 1/2hr to arrive (given that this was our lunch break, we ordered off the daily menu thinking that it would be quick, alas it wasn't). With 15 minutes left in our lunch break, the food finally arrived. It wasn't bad, but it was far from great. I had the jalapeno bison burger with bacon and sweet potato fries (DEFINITELY not worth the extra couple dollars). The bison patty was fine, the jalapenos were raw and I think they would have tasted a lot better grilled or even pan fried. I did find 4 chunks of black god-only-knows-what on my burger, kind of off putting. The burger also seemed to come with mayo on both sides of the bun, that's it, could have been much better with maybe some chipotle. The sweet potato fries were pretty weak, they looked good but the flavour and texture just wasn't there.
I would never pick the sticky wicket voluntarily, but if I'm forced to return again I will, but probably only for beer and nachos or potato skins. -

Fish and chips were really good as was the service. Prices were ok for an over-priced city. Would definitely eat here again if I was in Victoria.

Absolutely horrible service here. We waited well over a half-hour to get our simple food and even then it wasn't as we had ordered. Server seemed to hate us because we didn't order alcohol, so keep that in mind.

We went to this place late and night and it was lame. Terrible service, terrible food. Tables was dirty and sticky. We ordered the fish and chips. It was $13 I think and came with one crappy piece of fish and some cold friend. When I asked for extra tarter sauce the bar tended tried to charge me and extra $4. No thanks.

We had excellent burgers for lunch here, and local and regional brews are available on tap. The cricket theme is amazing and pervasive, right down to banisters incorporating cricket bats. We really enjoyed ourselves here!

Fun, Fun, Fun...we stopped in for drinks and appetizers while in Victoria for a day. Several crew members on our cruise recommended Sticky Wicket and we decided to give it a try, so glad we did. The pub was packed with cheering hockey fans, we had so much fun. The local beers were great as was the local Canadian Merlot wine. We munched to our hearts content on the Sweet Potato Fries with Chipotle aioli and then continued the potato theme with Potato skins, YUMMY! The service was friendly and quick considering the crowds.

Went there today for lunch with the family. The service was good and the food was great. I was having a hard time deciding what to get and the waiter recommended the halibut tacos. They were very tasty! Well worth the 12 bucks! And the drinks were good too. Worth going to!

Great authentic pub with a really cool theme on the inside. The food was really good even though the prices were a tad high. Its hard for me to tell though because its Canadian dollars so it probably evened out. If you happen to be in the area give it a try. Good pubs are always a good thing.

Terrible service and mediocre food. We got half of our meals, then waited 20 more minutes for them to bring a bowl of soup and kid's nachos (chips with shredded cheese microwaved on them). There are many better pubs and cafes in the neighborhood!

Review from A M.
Nice atmosphere but lackluster service and mediocre food. This is the kind of place that is hard to specifically critique and nothing is worthy of sending back or complaining about but nothing is good either. Dry french dip sandwich, over seasoned burgers, and its tough to get your water glasses filled. The prices are too high for the food and service. You are paying for the atmosphere I guess. Save your money and try somewhere else.

after ordering and eating our dinner, we realized the mistake of ordering food at an establishment that caters to 19 year olds out drinking. seemed like a great place for drinking, our dinner experience was dreadful.
