Put aside the oddball pretentious jerk blowing smoke in your face on the patio this place is fantastic. I would have to say that Spoke has one of the best patios in the city. Day or night the panoramic view of downtown Toronto is breathtaking. The comfy seating feels oh-so nice on your behind and the food ---oh the food, best veggie tempura roll in a 7 kilometre radius.
Yes one has to be a member to attend. However, from time to time Spoke will hold public events, art installations and fundraisers which are open to the public. Otherwise just try to sneak by the front desk :) -

This is a great spot to hang out on a summer night on the rooftop patio! I try to stop in each time I visit Toronto as the service is awesome. (It should be as you need to pay to be a member).
If you hang out there regularly you're bound to run into some interesting and cool people. The view is also good from the roof, a nice way to experience T.O.
If you don't know someone with a membership, your best bet is to hang out by the door and look very friendly...hope someone takes a liking to you... -

I always have a great time here. The patio upstairs, the bar downstairs, and dining room - all have great service. You don't have to wait too long for a drink, and surprisingly, good conversations with random people. Of course, no one there is really random, they are all only a few degrees separated from you as it's a member only club which deters people from bad behavior because you'll likely see them again and again. Its not stuffy place either. You can book out the private rooms that have a theatre set up. I've seen a scotch tasting function there, and lots of private parties. It's a great place to conduct business meetings too. The food isn't too bad either. You might even see Galen Weston Jr.

I didn't even know this place existed, which is kinda the point. I was brought here by a former Member for a mini tour of the place. The guy at the front desk didn't seem to have a problem with us wandering around even though we didn't currently have memberships. We were required to leave a name with him though.
There's lots of space, but each room is very cozy in its own way. Interesting artwork can be found on the walls. Beautiful warm finishes throughout. We wandered upstairs to hang out on the rooftop patio. Interesting view of the city from there and nice and quiet compared to the bustling club crowd on the streets below. Lots of seating available for various group sizes.
If this place was open to the public, I would rate it higher, but the membership fee is astronomical ($800 per year and $500 initiation fee). I suppose it probably wouldn't be as beautiful if it were open to just anyone, but I don't like the exclusivity of the place.
I have been invited to an artist's event here later this month. Stay tuned for my update. -

Food wise, they make killer finger type food.
I had the little mini burgers, made with steak pieces sliced tiny and super tender with a great sauce, and the mini scallops.
If you're a gin and tonic fan, this place makes one of the best. They also have a great wine list.
Definitely worth coming to. -

There's a massive misconception that this is the hidden enclave of the beautiful and famous. In fact, it would be extremely difficult for there to be any more sorry looking wannabees packed into such a space.
Remember all those kids in high school who so desperately wanted to be cool? They're all here. And they've all exercised their "bring a plus one" option just so they can show off to their fake-friends how extremely important they are.
A slew of old used up stick insects on one side of the room. A bunch of balding men wearing shirts with skulls on them on the other. Vapid, uninteresting conversation. No real mingling.
They have 1200 members. Therefore the place is pretty much always guaranteed to be full of a whole LOT of social rejects who will spend half their time staring at each other. The irony of a pack of thousand-plus faceless people paying money in order to feel unique is not lost on the author whatsoever.
Sure, they have decent meeting space... a stellar selection of drinks and wonderful, pretty staff... but you're more likely to find an "important person" hanging at the well-stocked bar at the Biermarket downstairs or sitting in the beautiful back room of La Merceria coffeeshop less than a block away.
If you've decided that you're going to be buying your friends, there are plenty of better places to shop. -

It's like a hip boys club with girls.
The Spoke Club is a members only dinning, art, patio, bar experience. It's filled with media industry execs which is kinda dope, cause that makes it a bit younger a bit hipper, mix that in with politicians and your average ad exec guys and gals, and you have a diverse conversation waiting to happen.
The way it works is you go for after work drinks. They have a whole bunch other services there as well, but it's the after work rooftop patio drinks that everyone goes for.
It's mad expensive to be a member, but if you're in the business of entertaining clients or you pick up clients and casual wine-and-dine spots, then it is so worth it. -

Came here on a random night not quite sure where I was going or what I was doing.
..sounds like many nights..
Only aftger looking it up, post-experience, did I find out that weird hotel-type checkin was there becasue it was a members' only club.
This place is amazing, from the lounge space, the excellent heated rooftop patio to the wine cellar and private theatre.
bartenders are totally fabulous and will cater to your tastes. the venue is incredible. I'd consider joining but its an arts & media type of place and while I like hanging out with arts&media people I myself have absolutely no interest in paying the 800$ membership fee to shmooze with people.
but as the other reviewers have said, it's probably worth it if you're in the industry. -

A private club only for members, its nice to feel somewhat exclusive every once in a while you know. I was lucky to have one of my clients invite me to this gem where he is a member. The door is locked that leads to an elevator that takes you to the 4th floor. Rang the bell and gave them my name with me being on the "list". You might have thoughts that in an exclusive club the staff would be somewhat pretentious, however that wasn't the case. Everyone was extremely helpful and warm. We lucked out with it being a beautiful day in the mid 70's where we could enjoy the rooftop bar. The rooftop bar has to be one of the most beautiful rooftop spots I have ever been to and the staff was all over us any time our drink levels were low. We didn't have food, but the drinks were well made. I left my card here and they were kind enough to keep it for me and lock it in a safe. I'll be back anytime I have the opportunity to make it to the "list" or I leave my card from the night before.

Great Service
Good Drinks
Beautiful Rooftop Bar

like the "cool kids only club" in grade school that actually was just fluff to make others envious.
ok, the spoke club is better than fluff. it's actually quite nice if you can get in... that is, it's a private, members-only club (read: pay for membership).
once you're in, you'll get: great service due to a lower guest to staff ratio, both well-trained in their respective roles in the art of hospitality; space to rub elbows with those presumably at "your level"; decor that looks nice even when the lights are on and not dimmed to disguise cheap (you know what i'm talking about. if not, look closer); and, a well-edited wine menu.
i had a nice visit and would consider joining if it were not for that fact that i'm not into forking over money to schmooze and exclude others. great venue for those types though, and occasional observations by moi. -

Went to lunch with the gang from Adenyo, who are members at the club. The place is chic and elegantish with a dash of Manhattan cool thrown in. We noshed happily on the flatbread pizzas (next time the server should mention that their is ham/pork on the pizza) the artful clubhouse sandwich and a yummy burger (did they go across the street to get it from Craft Burger...hmmmm) which they kindly topped with blue cheese for me. Fresh veggies in the salad and a pleasant and unique selection of wines. We opted for a bottle of Tawse 2006 Pino Noir...yumbola!!! The patio gives a decent view of King West area (shabby chic) and the generous awning kept us from baking from the noon day heat (hey South of Temperance...you reading this!!!)...I am still applying noxzema after lunching there. Anyhoo, really great spot...media room for about a dozen, ample corporate board room, small meeting spaces, open concept restaurant and a patio that rivals most in the city. Membership does have its privileges. Thanks to Martin and Tony from Adenyo for a pleasant lunch in a cool venue.
