Spa Terre is FABULOUS!!  My company kindly treated a few of us over worked, over stressed employees to two treatments of our choice at Spa Terre this past weekend.  I had a 50 minute Swedish Massage and a 50 Minute Milk and Honey Body Wrap.

My massage was with Annette.  She is a miracle worker!!  It's hard to get me to relax, but for 50 straight minutes, I was a total noodle.  Per my request, she adjusted the pressure on different areas of my body perfectly.  She was able to focus in on my neck and shoulders where she could tell I was carrying most of my stress.  She has the hands of an angel and I would definitely go back to her to unwind!

My Body wrap was with Lea.  Lea was also wonderful!  She started with a sugar scrub exfoliation and then massaged warm honey onto my body (which is oddly not as sticky as one would think).  She then poured warm milk all over me and then wrapped me up.  While I was wrapped like a banana, I enjoyed a scalp and foot massage.  When she was done, she rinsed me down and sent me on my way.  My skin is so soft that I won't need to apply any lotion for a few days!

The Spa is beautiful and very clean.  They have a waiting room with magazines, tea, water and fruit.  It's a cute little place to chill out between treatments (also available is the gym, pool, steam room and sauna).  I am giving this place 4 stars because of the price.  I probably couldn't afford to make this as regular of a thing as I would like to because it's a little pricey.  As a company outting, it was a perfect day!  I would definitely return for a special occaision couples massage with the hubbs... except he may have to fight me for Annette :)

The front desk staff of the spa needs to be better trained or replaced. I had bought a groupon that consisted of three separate services (massage, facial, manicure) intended for a couple's treatment. I had to call the front desk three times, due to their incompetent staff, in order to get my appointment right. Additionally, their was no confirmation or reminder call the week of. The first call I had made was to book the services for our anniversary. Due to scheduling conflicts I made a second call to reschedule the same appts for the following week... In which I found that the initial appt was booked incorrectly. I worked it out with Ashley, no biggy. That same week, I received a call from the spa to ask me if I knew I had an appointment that day, as I was late. Huh? I had rescheduled. Oops on their part. The day before I had to call in, myself, to make sure the treatments were booked correctly and that it would go without a hitch... as I had received no confirmation/reminder call.

Following the services (I've had better), I went to the front desk to pay gratuity. Receptionist at the front desk said that it was included in the package. Huh? That's not standard, it even says on the voucher. She re-read the voucher and I insisted. I was refused yet again. Next day, I received a call explaining the situation and was asked to pay gratuity for the services minus a twenty percent discount for my inconvenience. I happily obliged as I had found it odd I was refused the first time. She gave me a breakdown of the charges and promised to send me an invoice via email as I didn't really understand them. However, I received no such email. On my statement I was charged three times more than what she quoted me over the phone. The gratuity was almost twice as much as my treatments. What a shame, for the reputation of the resort & spa that's way too many oops on their part. They need to get it together. On top of that the massage was OK, the facial was OK, and the manicure I'd say go elsewhere. The only exception was that the grounds were beautiful. I'll stick to my local massage parlor and look elsewhere the next time I have a special occasion.

My husband and I spent are anniversary here. We had a very enjoyable time. The hotel sent complimentary wine and fruit to our room to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was very friendly. I thought Baleen restaurant was a bit over rated. Not worth the money in my opinion.

I agree with many points in Alaina's review below.

Beautiful hotel grounds, but as far as the spa facilities, they were so disappointing that I left after 15 minutes. Note that I did not go in for a service, I just went to use the steam/sauna/whirlpool and relaxation room. At first, the attendant said it would cost $25 to use the facilities even though I was a local. I countered with the $12 price I was quoted on the phone. Thankfully, they (reluctantly) charged me $12, and quickly refunded $8 when they saw me bee-lining for the door after 15 minutes.

I think they were going bankrupt, or maybe short-staffed, or something was deterring them from welcoming me for $12.

First-off, the locker room floor is tiled, and they don't give you spa shoes, so the floor was freezing cold. If my feet were wet, I would have nothing secure beneath my feet to keep me from slipping. I've been to enough spas to know that spa shoes should come with the territory.

Secondly, the steam room had the ambiance like I was being gassed in a concentration camp: harsh lighting, purely functional, was freezing cold with no steam when I opened the door to go in. When the steam finally came on, it took a long time for the room to heat up. That should have been ready for guests before opening.

The robes were very nice and plush, :-) but no pockets to hold the locker key.  No shelves were inside the lockers, so my stuff was piled to the top like a Jenga puzzle. The showers looked unwelcoming and like they could use cleaning, and I certainly wouldn't go in there in bare feet.

The most annoying thing was that there was no access to the spa without a key! Unlike other resort spas, you can't just walk in the front door of the spa. You have to hunt down an employee to unlock the pool gate so you may access the spa. They should at least inform spa guests of this instead of it being a guessing game.

Would I go back? Nope, sorry, unless they do some renovation. I can go to Catamaran instead for excellent spa facilities.

The facials and massages are good, but the manicure was AWFUL. She did such a horrible job on both the cuticles and the polish that I just redid my nails on my own the next day. Especially given the high price, I would not recommend the nail services here.

I got THE BEST facial here!!!  My face has never felt cleaner or better than it did after this facial.  I even fell asleep in the middle of it, it was so relaxing!!  Who falls asleep during a facial??  I'm a very light sleeper, too, so I'm still not sure how this happened.  Yes, it was very pricey, but definitely worth it.

I've also gotten a Swedish massage here as well as a Balinese massage coupled with a mud mask.  Heavenly.  I'm not sure if she still works there but both times I had Heidi as my masseuse.  Skip the $65 pedicure, though, this wasn't worth it.  They also offer a 10% discount for San Diego residents, just ask when you make your appointment.  I seem to remember them automatically adding 20% gratuity to your tab, though, just a heads up.  I still dream about that wonderful facial.   Sigh...

    One word.. AMAZING!

Okay, for real.. Spa Terre is worth every dime that you pay and you will be paying quite a few dimes but the facials are fantastic, the locker room shampoo smells like you are in Hawaii and since I wanted to be in Hawaii, I bought it.

The massages, the best I have ever ever ever had. Compare this to: The Four Seasons (Top 5), Hyatt Regency in Maui, Grand Manchester Hyatt, The Marriott Desert Springs (Top 2), The Crosby country club, etc.

Going here truly makes you feel like you are in a tropical paradise from the outdoor surroundings to the locker and treatment rooms.

Michelle gives a great 1 1/2 massage, Their ritual baths are very soothing, airbrush tans give you a nice glow, salt scrubs and waxing services are top notch. Highly recommended!! Don't miss out fellow San Diegans, if you got the money, this is the way to spend it and spend it you shall!

After some deliberation I decided not to give it negative rating, although my review incentive was a sloppy (to say the least) attitude of one of the hostesses. Later we figured out that it is actually not just a "bad day" - this _is_ her attitude.
My girlfriend has made an appointment shortly after we checked-in. She wanted to have her hair, facial and manicure. Receptionist at the hotel gave us discount coupon (which was very sweet of her).  After an hour I decided to go to SPA and meet my girlfriend, bringing her jacket (the night was cool and my girlfriend is easy to feel cold). I was told that service will take another hour. I decided to pay and asked whether I can leave the jacket for her. The young black hostess promptly served me check and assured she'll pass the jacket. When I realized that I just forgot discount she said she'll apply it once my girlfriend out and presents the coupon.
When I returned 40-50 minutes later that same hostess said I can wait in the relaxation room (next to reception) another 15 minutes. After 25-30 minutes I went out, asked, and was told with a swift manner that my girlfriend is still being served, after which the young black hostess disappeared behind a door. Somehow concerned I asked another hostess and she said that actually my girlfriend left some time ago. Nobody told her that I am waiting, her jacket forgotten (with her cell-phone in the pocket). The young black hostess told her that everything's paid (somehow she managed to pass over that information at least). She forgot to mention discount though. And by the way deduct facial, which my girlfriend did not take...
The only reason I'm not giving negative rating is another hostess whom we talked one hour later when I returned with discount coupon and my comments. She was sweet and made every effort to fix the situation. Also my girlfriend liked manicure, she mentioned that the cuticle care was exactly as she likes it - not cut to the roots.
Looks like the SPA management just needs to hire proper people, or motivate them accordingly.

This place is heaven on earth in every way!!!  I've been here numerous times and all their services are FABULOUS!!!  They're located inside beautiful Paradise Point Resort in Mission Bay, right next to the pool.  The staff are professional, friendly, and caters to your every need.

The Milk & Honey Wrap starts with an all-over body scrub followed by warm milk & honey slathering on your body.  After they wrapped you in all that gooey goodness, they massage your feet and gives you a mini facial.  After 10 minutes, they rinse & and massage you with oil.  Best thing?  you never have to step off the table!!!

The Swedish Massage is so relaxing.  You tell them how much pressure is comfortable and they massage you from head to toe.   50 minutes of pure bliss!!!

The Hot Stone Massage is similar to the Swedish, except for the hot stones that they placed on specific parts of your body.  It could be a bit hot so watch out!

The Hot Stone Pedicure uses little hot stones placed between your toes while your other feet is being tended to.  Spa pedicure with a little uumph!!!

Best part of this place is you can make it a day long experience if you want.  There're a fitness center, sauna, and comfy lounge area with magazines, refreshments, and snacks.  You can order lunch from the staff.

The spa visit during our stay was a wonderful treat.  Highly professional, friendly and helpful staff.  A really different, cool menu of treatments.  I got my first body wrap -- heaven!   My "therapist," Lea, was the best ever.  Sarah and Ashley at the front happily and patiently answered my numerous questions about the spa products.

Such a great experience, I am coming back the end of August.

I love living in San Diego because of these wonderful Destination Spas. I get to pretend that I'm from out of town on vacation.
This place has an awesome Indonisian theme throughout the spa! The rooms are really neat have (well atleast mine did) these wooden Japanese tubs that I enjoyed :) Never been in one before.

I had a great massage and an overall amazing experience. I received great customer service throughout my entire experience. I recommend Spa Terre for a blissful spa experience for sure!

Good, but not great.  The Spa doesn't live up to the hotel.  Although the services we received were great, the facilities were not what one would expect from a high class spa.  To begin with you need to go get a key from the store to even get into the area where the spa is (the pool area).  Without being told this in advance, it is somewhat annoying to have to call to figure this out right when you arrive.  The locker area and facilities are very small and for some reason the hostess gives the lockers out in order, so that the 3 people who are there all have their lockers right next to each other, making it even closer quarters.  The showers (of which there are only two) are less than sparkling and the quiet room (where you wait for your treatment) looks out to an air conditioner vent or something.  With such a lovely property, one would think that they would take more advantage of it.  Also, you could hear them mowing the lawn or something from inside the quiet room (which isn't exactly what you want in a spa).  The locker room has no hangers on which to hang your clothes, no brushes to use, etc.  Just seems like a lot of the little touches that you ordinarily see in top spa are missing here (even though they charge you the same prices).
The individual rooms are nice and the staff seemed great.  It's also a bonus that they give locals a 10% discount, but I think that they could make very small adjustments to make this place much better in the future.

This was my first experience getting a massage let alone trying a day spa. I had been looking forward to coming here ever since my friend told me she was going to take me here as a special treat before my wedding. Needless to say, I was underwhelmed. I agree with JG and Alaina's reviews. For one, we were never told to check-in at the Island Market to get a keycard that would let us into the pool area, which is where the spa is located. Secondly, the spa is much smaller than what I had expected. The locker room was not spacious at all; it's tough to undress discretely when you're elbow to elbow with someone next you. The showers looked a bit frightening. The dry sauna and eucalyptus steam room are teeny tiny. My friend chose a Himalayan Ritual for me, which was actually quite nice. The room is super dim but calming. The foot scrub was great and my massage was even better. Annette did a great job there but later on, we realized that she had forgotten to give me my choice of aromatherapy, which is extra, of course. And then they tack on an automatic 20% gratuity. Heh! Overall, I guess maybe my expectations were too high because my experience here was not worth the price my friend paid. Sorry Spa Terre, you were just A-ok for me.
