Great place for a casual meal and drink. An old house, one of those small Victorians, converted into a pub ... Very homey, felt like I was drinking in my living room. (Reminded me of the house I grew up in in Toronto.) Fish and chips not bad, though the fish was a little bland and watery ... Frozen not fresh perhaps? But I'd go back again. And I did the next day. Had the venison burger ... Very, very good. Well worth the trip ... great selection of microbrews as well, served in "jars."

I had a hankering for wings tonight.  I went to my normal wing joint, and they were busy, and out of wings.  So I stepped next door to the Ship and asked Tate to make me some jerk chicken wings (they have wings on the menu for those that might not wish to eat seafood).

Turns out, my buddy Mike makes their jerk sauce.

Turns out, I don't know whether to hug Mike, or kick his ass the next time I see him.  Tasty, but DANGEROUS!!  As I write this, and wolf down numerous pints to quell the warmth in my lips, I'm strongly debating ordering another basket.

    My plumbing suggests otherwise.

Excellent fish and chips, even tartar sauce was superb.
Local microbrewery beer - the best I've had.
Waitress was pleasant and polite; it took a tad longer for the dish to arrive, but it was well worth waiting. The chef sure knows what he's doing.

Lets start by saying this. I live near Augusta and it tends to lure me in more often than not. I think it's the fact that stumbling home is so easy that no matter how much I drink I can always make it. Ever since Hess Village has become a haven for the young, rich and fighting, I try to avoid it and opt to go for pints on the patio on this street more often than not.
There are some good options worth mentioning in the Augusta St.area (Gallagher's and One Duke among them), but lately The Ship has me coming back for more.
It has a good selection of beers and some really decent food. I have been preaching the gospel of the crab poutine for months to anyone who will listen.
The prices are reasonable, but seem to go up by steady increments over the last year, which is a shame because I truly enjoy the atmosphere and people working here. Why is that when anything good gets a bit popular, prices go up? Keep it good and the people will keep coming. Let me rephrase that, the people you want to keep coming will keep coming.

    Like me:)

This is my favourite bar on Augusta. Cozy maritime decor meets friendly people and a pretty sweet menu from my experience so far. And cheap beer!! They have specials a lot of the time, sometimes Amsterdam pitchers for $11, sometimes Confederation ale pints for $4.50.
