The sexual health centre is a great resource in the Byward Market. They are non-judgmental and friendly, as well as knowledgable and professional. I had to get a prescription in a hurry so I came here, there's all sorts of characters that come here, but besides that the nurses are friendly and thorough.

**NOTE**: The Centre will be closed for renovations from November 19, 2010 to January 17, 2011 in order to accommodate people more efficiently. They will offer very limited services during this time, and by appointment only.
The Sexual Health Centre, from Ottawa Public Health, is a great place for any and all sex-related questions and concerns. It is located near the ByWard Market on Clarence, but there is no sign outside. They have free and confidential drop-in services on business days, as well as appointments available on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. They offer a wide range of services, including free counselling on healthy sexuality, free condoms, free STI testing and treatment, confidential or anonymous HVI and pregnancy testing, emergency contraception, public awareness campaigns, prevention programs, training programs, and workshops. If you are there for a walk-in, you will receive a number and be seen by the appropriate health care practioner, depending on the reason for your visit. The nurses are extremely sweet and gentle, knowledgeable, non-judgmental, and professional.Listed in: The Nation's Capital

The only downside to the Sexual Health Centre is its lineups, so go early to avoid having to wait! They are also closed currently for renovations.
I had really great service here. Upon moving back to the city, I did not have a doctor yet here, but needed to get a prescription fast.
I went on an afternoon after work around 5pm and by 8pm I was done. First they take you into a room for a kind of preliminary consultation, so that you tell them what you need and details of your history. After that you get a number and you wait for your name to be called to go in for your appointment. Time can vary, according to what you are there for. Doctors and nurses are very friendly and understanding and prescriptions are given in a discreet manner.
Once you are a client, you can make appointments for follow-ups to avoid lining up each time.
