These guys are amazing! The first time I went here, I got a muffin. Really good. After getting snacks from here, I've moved on to more standard fare; I ordered the corned beef sandwich and crab salad sandwich on two different occasions. Very filling, delicious, and appropriate for the price. Not overbearing, either. I'm a regular now!
The ambiance is great, too! The staff is always upbeat and they know the meaning of customer service. Having free Wi-Fi and complimentary ice water definitely helps, too, if you're a busy person who has to be in front of the computer like myself!
I definitely recommend this place to anyone who is a fan of deli sandwiches and/or the café scene. These guys will definitely have you come back again and again :D -

Honestly this place is really good. Went here to try it out because we weren't sure what we were craving, just wanted something fresh but filling. Props to the girlfriend for finding this place.
Got the Salad Platter, House Club sandwich, and the hot Pastrami (recommend all of them). Ask about the salad platter because you can build your own platter. A lot better tasting than Pluto's! Super friendly customer service too, an instant favorite. -

I love The Salad Place.
Great sandwiches & salads. Great customer service. Great prices.
I've been here about 15 times and use them to cater lunches for professors and my students at CCSF. Everyone raves about them! -

Yay this place still hasn't failed me !
The service is as friendly as ever. Not pressured to choose something just because they're waiting on you. This time, the bf got a chicken salad melt, which is technically a pressed panini, while i got the tomato basil salad.
YUM!!!!! The salad was absolutely divine. Delicious and juicy cherry tomatoes in a blend of unique herbs and olive oil, topped with basil and small bits of provolone cheese. It was a consistent and fresh taste with each scoop. My bf's melt was really warm and fresh, and it was well complimented with the right amount of veggies and condiments.
Definitely worth taking the 29 from City just to have breakfast/lunch here :).1 Previous Review: Show all »

This place is great. Everything looks super fresh and tasty! I had the house club and a fruit salad. Man I can eat, but that sandwich was huge! Everything was great I'll definitely be back.

If this place was nearby my home I'd be by practically every day! I don't ever explore the Excelsior however their paninis are enough to want me to continue going back. And as if that wasn't enough the owners here are incredibly warm, genuine and friendly.
I love a great family owned establishment. You can tell this particular mom and pops is doing everything to ensure satisfied loyal customers and offer fresh, tasty, healthy food to this neighborhood. According to the glowing reviews they seem to have succeeded. -

I took the family there for lunch after such positive reviews. The other reviewers are right - this place is special. Very friendly staff that obviously cares. We need more places like this... We will go back.

I ordered the cobb salad and it was AMAZING. I thought it was a little weird that it was all shoved onto a small plate, but I managed to scrape off every last bit without any falling onto the table. The workers are very friendly, and I felt glamorous! She kept coming back to us and asking if we needed anything, even offering to get us cups of water for us, even though the dispenser was only a couple feet away. That means something.
It was a little expensive, but the salad was surprisingly large (it just looks small on the plate) and extremely delicious. Staff can't get any better. Definitely going to drop by again sometime! -

i saw the great reviews and decided to stop in. I'm not much of a healthy eater and prefer steak and fries to salad so I figured maybe all these raving reviews were from vegetarians and health nuts.
But I could get used to this!
Great food, good prices and high quality. I'd imagine its hard to keep so many fresh ingredients going at once. -

Great little sandwich spot, have gotten the house club and the pastrami here. Relatively cheap for the size of the sandwiches. Service is very friendly. Solid 4.25; will be frequenting this place a lot more in the future I imagine.

I love giving the 94112 some love! The Salad Place is exactly what this area needed. I really hope The Salad Place sticks around for a LONG time. The atmosphere is clean, cozy, and has an overall great energy.
I love how versatile this place is--Free wi-fi, great coffee (plus espresso mixed drinks), sandwiches, salads, and goodies! Not the best place for a huge group, but perfect for a nice lunch with one or two people.
I ordered the Spicy Chicken Panini with an iced mocha. The sandwich is very filling so plan on saving the rest for dinner if you have a smaller appetite.
Come in with a smile, and leave with a bigger smile :D -

This place has become a weekly lunch affair; a necessary option for Mission folk. When the pastor, chile rellenos and huaraches become too mundane, head over and grab the Thai noodle salad with chicken or the Greek. My friends have ordered sandwiches that look large and are reasonably priced at $5.25. Some of these reviews are overly enamored for whatever reason... 4 stars is enough. I Look forward to more cold take-out and friendly phone service.

As I see it, the 94112 has 3 things going for it. Cheap(ish) rent, to die for papusas, and The Salad Place. If you live in the Excelsior, this is your sandwich stop. If you don't live in the Excelsior, this is still your sandwich stop. I usually get the caprese sandwich on the dutch crunch. So delicious! I would go here just because the food is so good, but the service is a bonus. Everyone who works here is so genuine. They're quick to offer suggestions, explain their menu, and always appreciative of your business. Love, love, love this place!

Great little spot in the Excelsior. i got the salad platter, and enjoyed the caprese, bean, chicken and greek salads. The guy who took my order was friendly, and the owner popped by and asked if everything was okay. Nice portions, fair prices. This is the kind of neighborhood place I will always root for.

love love love this place! I have no idea what they put in there salads but bite after bite after bite my brain says more! nom nom nom!! I wish i had time to look for parking and coins. But most definately a place to go to! there corn salad is the best.. better yet just try everything! Nothing has disapointed me here. The staff is very friendly and nice. Inside is very clean! and the quality and freshness or there ingredients are on point! A little pricey but definately a treat

San Francisco, CA
super casual neighborhood place. staff is so sweet and nice, ready to serve you.
you can get any sandwich on the menu as a panini (just ad $1).
i got the pastrami sandwich as a panini and loved it. i don't like my sandwiches packed with meat so this was perfect. provolone cheese with a layer of pastrami on each side of the bread, and tons of fresh veggies in the middle! sandwich was huge! i could only finish half. the bread is made locally and not all exactly the same size, so some sandwiches can end up being bigger/smaller than another.
the ceviche tostada was not bursting with flavor, but was pretty good too. don't forget to put the tapatio on it!
oh and free wifi! :) -

When I use to live in the Excelsior district, I use to come to The Salad Place at least twice a week. This is a great healthy option in a neighborhood that otherwise is filled with fast food and Mexican food. This place has its variety of salads, sandwiches and sides such as soups. It also has a cafe which serves up great coffee, lattees, teas and freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. Friendly staff and a great diverse group of customers make this place a neighborhood staple. Excelsior where you at!

I already love the idea of a family run neighborhood cafe. The crew is genuinely friendly.
We both enjoyed our spicy chicken sandwich and club panini. We would both recommend the thai chicken cold noodle salad (altho doubtful there was chicken in there) and I loved the gumbo soup. And I already have my order picked out for my next trip.
I love Excelsior and welcome new hangouts. -

Since I discovered The Salad Place, one block up from the Dragon House MMA gym, my workouts have always been followed by a great lunch. I especially love the salad platter, which lets you choose 4 different salads (like tortellini or mozzarella, tomatoes and basil) on top of a green lettuce base. So good!
Fresh organic beet, carrot, and orange juice, and delicious sandwiches are all served with friendly attention.
These are hard working folks bringing healthy food to a neighborhood that has few healthy food options.
I'm especially happy to support a woman of color owned business. -

I went here last week for the first time looking for a healthier lunch. Based on the reviews is seemed like a good choice and it was great! The girl behind the counter was so helpful with me to pick which salad choice I wanted. I chose the salad platter which gives you 4 different selections. I had the pesto tortellini, thai salad (little spicy), bean salad (great), and the chicken salad. It feels very quaint and homey with a nice personal touch. I hope they have more locations around the city soon.

In a neighborhood where burritos, tacos, pupusas, and such greatly abound, I am so thankful for finding The Salad Place. Don't get me wrong, I love my burritos, but how can a girl keep her sexy up eating them all the time? She can't, of course. The salad platter is the way to go: a bed of salad (lettuce, tomatoes, carrots) with your choice of four small salads to top it and dressing on the side. All for about $9 and some change. I highly recommend the bean salad, the beet salad, and the macaroni salad. Oh so delightful!

I been look for a new French food place since the one I loved by my house closed down. :( Luckily after searching and searching... my boyfriend discovered this salad place by his house. I am really into the French Salad, and I am so happy he found this place. The people that work there are so nice and friendly. They're even willing to personally make me my favorite salad Ratatouille (Eggplant, Red peppers, etc.) so yummy. Their ingredients are a little different from the original salad place I use to go to but with their great customer service I still love spending my money here. :) Also, my bf loves the dutch crunch pastrami sandwich as well. They sell a variety of sandwiches and salads, and for the most part they're all delicious and affordable!

This is my favorite lunch place! I go there at least once a week, if not more.
The food is always delicious. I've had a few different foods, but I always go back to the pesto ravioli because it's my favorite.
It's such a welcoming environment. Everyone is extremely friendly and warm. They smile and make conversation while preparing the food, and I feel like I'm remembered and appreciated whenever I'm there. -

San Francisco, CA
As the other reviews say, this is great, tasty, fresh food. Salads of ALL types...if you're the type who loves pasta, veggies, fruits, and yummy sauces, this place is for you. I was so excited!
I work a few blocks away from here and have come in for lunch a couple of times. The first time I ordered the salad combo platter (a bit more than I usually pay for lunch, but there was sooo much I wanted to try and it lasts me for lunch and most of dinner). It was worth it and I couldn't resist getting the same when I went back for lunch today. You get to have 4 different salads all on top of a fresh green salad. My favorites: mini pesto ravioli (with pine nuts), Thai peanut noodles (not a flavor I usually like, by this is so good with a nice amount of spice), cucumber salad with yogurt dressing, and the tomato and mozzarella salad.
Again, it's all really fresh. And the lady who works there IS really sweet. I hope the business gets its deserved customer base. -

Gloria and her family are such sweethearts. My partner and I have been coming here ever since they opened, and Gloria remembers us and our usual orders. Delicious, healthy food made from organic items, what more could a girl ask for?
I usually get the avocado sandwich or the garden salad with honey mustard, and each time has been just as good as before. The partner usually gets the club sandwich, which he swears tastes just like the club sandwich down in Cabo. We're so happy that this neighborhood gem exists, and we hope it will for a long time. -

Love this place!
When i first moved into the neighborhood it was under construction for months and I had high hopes for it being only 2 blocks from my house. When they opened they exceeded all my expectations!
There is always great variety, food is fresh and the family that owns it is so nice, I go in there every other day now. Great neighborhood cafe and I hope they do really well in years to come. -

Super friendly staff and great healthy looking menu. I had a Cobb salad and it was awesome. Super fresh and loaded with bacon, egg, peppers, avocado and tasty chicken. They have a large selection of sandwiches and tuna salad type stuff. I will be back!

Everything here is made with so much love!
I have sampled most salads and a few Friday platters here and all are packed with flavour, made with the freshest of organic ingredients, and simply put: phenomenal.
They're also a great spot for sandwiches, hot meals, organic coffee, tea, juices and they boast a huge spread of snack bars, candy, and baked goods.
The owner and staff are the sweetest and full of gratitude for every patron, and the owner clearly goes the extra mile in everything she does. This place deserves to thrive.
They make the best organic Chai Tea Latte (w/ soy + espresso shots) I've ever had, their hummus is ridiculously awesome, and I crave the pesto ravioli and bean salads constantly.
The Salad Place is such a unique gem and worth the trip no matter where you're coming from in the City, truly! -

Perfect little breakfast or lunch place. You can just get a hard-boiled egg or banana, or go for a croissant bacon egg sandwich. Super friendly staff. Every experience I've had there has been good.

San Francisco, CA
This place is so damn good. 5 Stars for food, 5 Stars for price and 5 Stars for service. I always get the salad platter (and by always, I've been there twice but I plan on going every day next week :) ) So it's a big green salad with your choice of 4 of their homemade salads to go on top. I chose the Orzo salad which tasted Italian style with some tomato and spinach and feta cheese- so good, the Chicken salad which is full of flavor and fresh as can be, then the Potato salad which is so good- it has very little mayo- not even enough to see so you don't have to worry about getting that gross mayo-laden kind you ususally get everywhere else, and the Pesto Pasta which is yummy and tangy and has peas and is just wonderful. The Thai noodle salad is really good too, the Pesto Ravioli looked sooo good, will try that next time. The egg salad looks good too and thats saying a lot because I'm not that kind of girl. Oh I almost forgot- the sandwiches are sooo good!! They are so fresh and yummy! I can't remember the one we got the first time I just remember we were sooo surprised at how good it was, jsut because this is a SALAD place so we thought sandwiches would be an after thought. SOO good. Today we got Gyros- delicious topped with cucumber raita. The service is phenomenal! LOVE THIS PLACE!

Great local dive to get a sandwich or bagel for breakfast, and as the name implies, a great place to get salads of all types. They have a great selection of fresh and organic salads. I like the egg salad, my gf likes the tuna salad, they have a pasta salad, and list continues. Free wifi makes this a great place to chill for a few hours to do some work.

Hmm, not so much lettuce salads as potato, Thai, orzo., that sort of thing. But the also have sandwiches and coffee. Their flow is weird, order here? Over there? No salad menu but a sandwich and drink menu? Oh and free WiFi. They should be having a 1/2 sand and salad special. That would maximize what the have to offer and their branding . I'd go back and order that. Easy parking as well.

The owner/staff are all amazingly sweet. They are just beaming with good energy. You leave there with a spring in your step and happy that you invested in making their business a success. It has a nice neighborhood feel, super diverse racially and socioeconomically.
Today I had a delicious breakfast sandwich: eggs, cheese, green onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, jalapeno bacon (ya, that's right, spicy jalapeno infused super thin and crispy bacon) on whole wheat bread. It was delicious. Way indulgent. My boyfriend had an asiago bagel with big slab of cream cheese. Also very good. We each had a coffee and the total with tax was $12.05.
I've had the chicken/basil/mozzarella panini. So yummy! The skinless chicken breast was sliced thin and was moist, there was a generous amount of whole fresh green basil leaves.
If you want hipster upscale, stay in the mission. This is a down home high quality neighborhood joint. -

Great little place with tons of salads and my favorite is that they have licuados de banana (a latin american banana smoothie with milk). I'd definitely go back. The latina women who work here are super friendly. I'd definitely go back.
