Review from Al E.
The Rotton Grape in Kelowna is a unique experience in itself. There are excellent choices of appetizers, the menu features an extensive selection of wine both locally and internationally, and much of the food is organic. There is definitely something for everyone here.
Coming from California, I was impressed with the boutique-like atmosphere, and the service was outstanding. This wine bar was recommended to us by our Canadian friends who are extremely particular about their wine and food. I must say it was a wonderful choice and we all had a memorable time. I would highly recommend this place. -

The Rotten Grape is a really excellent restaurant if you are excited about very small portion sizes at a high price.
We ordered an appetizer and SIX courses for four people. We were worried that we had ordered too much, and when the courses came our only remark was "Is this it?", and we left hungry! I want to make it clear that we are all average sized people, and not big eaters.
For wine we chose the Wine Flight. This is pretty neat as you get three 2oz. glasses of different wine with your meal to try. But the 'By the Glass' and 'Half Liter' options is pretty limited. So you're basically strong armed into ordering a bottle.
I'm sure this restaurant does well in the summer time, when the tourists are in full swing. It has a great location in downtown Kelowna, right across from the park and beach.
In Summary, I can see this being a great place to grab a later night small meal with a wine of your choosing. They do have a very good selection of wines, but I'm warning you, eat first before you go, because if you have an appetite larger than a squirrel you won't be full. Plan also on leaving with a significantly lighter wallet.
Pro's:
- Large Wine List
- Well prepared food, good taste
Con's:
- High Price
- Small portion sizes
- Small, cramped tables
- Not great value for money -

You must try the "curried broccoli & manchego cheese cakes" if you come here. They are absolutely delicious. The rest of the food here was excellent as well, though that dish just still stands out in my mind.
Great by the glass wine selection using their enomatic wine system.
It's a nice little place, the servers are friendly and great, and I really enjoyed my dinner there.
How they could get 5 stars from me:
- Have better music; ambiance is king.
- Have something other than just tall tables and chairs: having the option of a cozy booth would be nice and more inviting to drink more wine.
- The artwork on the walls wasn't very complimentary to the decor; hopefully it has sentimental value to the owners.
If you are in Kelowna and looking for a great place for tapas style food and great wine, you should definitely try out The Rotten Grape. -

Not as impressive as we were hoping. Walking by we really thought we found our new date night hang out. When we did actually try it out, we shared a flight of wine.. Which came out white instead of the red we had ordered. The flights seemed to be quite expensive for the types of wine being offered. We decided to get a few of the sharing platters (tapas style) to share, and none seemed to really blow us away especially for the price. The only one that would stick out in my head would be the meatballs that we had. Very moist and very delicious. The bernard ave locale is perfect for people watching and would be perfect for first dates.

My favorite restaurant in Kelowna. Amazing oven roasted potatoes and grilled string beans.... yum yum! All their tapas are delicious and they have an impressive wine list.
