I guess it depends on which night you go to Rhinos that determines the genre of music that will be played as well as the crowd the genre will attract. I went on a Friday night and it was off the hook! A young professional crowd but one that was obviously happy the weekend had arrived.
The DJ played old school hip hop and R&B. The crowd was dressed in professional attire so I'm guessing (like me) most of them were coming from work. I haven't partied this hard on a Friday in quite some time and I must admit it felt good just to let go!
It's still warm outside so to be able to step into the outside area with your drink and mingle is a really cool aspect to Rhino's. I'll definitely be making my way back down here on a Friday night! -

This place is closed but the cool thing about this place is that the building has been used in tv and movies. Tommorrow on May 3 a movie is using the buliding to shoot a scene in a movie. On this day they will be blowing all the windows out of the building for a particular scene. I work around this building so we were sent a letter informing us that there will be an explosion on this particular day and that they were blowing out the windows. At least the building is getting some use. I hope I get to see it.

I had some incredible times at the Rhino. When this spot first opened up it was kinda "the place to go" for folks that felt they were a tad bit too young to be in Floods..but liked the "floods atmosphere". It seems to still be the same way (based on a recent visit).
During the summer this is a great spot because they have out door seating...really cool if u want to get ur ppl watch on...
Young, professional clientele, and if you want to find the good looking ppl in the city..I'd say the Rhino is a grt spot to start...
I've never had the food here, but they make some pretty good drinks...I know they have a special drink that is purple that will get you absolutely torn up...I'd recommend it (strongly!!) -

I first came to the Rhino during Superbowl weekend a few years ago. We sat in the backroom with some very influential people in Detroit and even a few local celebrities. I thought the food was pretty good. Of course, it is more expensive than I would typically pay for a meal. More recently, I have frequented the Rhino strictly as an nightlife option, because it is always popping on the weekends. True enough, last night The Rhino & Lola's had tons of people outside and inside enjoying the music and liquor. It is sort of reminiscent of a block party, where tons of people are hanging out in the narrow street and socializing. Inside was super packed, so my friends and I stayed in the outdoor patio area to remain fresh. A jazz singer was outside performing and did a really good job. The crowd was roughly in their 30s, so there wasn't too much debauchery going on. I would definitely recommend as an option for those not interested in the young, dance club crowd.
