Great place for a great night on the town! I really enjoyed the duelling pianos as they were extremely entertaining. I love that you have to dress up to go here because that generally brings in an older crowd that is less "bar-star-esque". I had a great night, even though it was quite pricy. THe food was really good and the wine was perfect. The Creme Brûlée was actually too big to finish (which never happens) and that's how I know I had a successful night. I recommend going here if you are looking for something different to do in the Edmonton area. Wonderful vent just wish it wasn't so west!

Its ok..at best. The service was awfel, the waitress could not care any less..and her skirt was sooo short it was distracting..AND I'm a straight woman!!

The food was pretty expensive for what it was..small portions and a bit blahh in general.

But the most anoying part was that they don't take debit card..and they didn't bother telling us until the check came..Jeeze thanks.

Until they clean up their act its defo not worth it..

The Red Piano is a great place to be if you enjoy really loud live music and a good show.  My fiance and I checked it out when some friends of mine were in town.  We ended up with three couples at one table.  The show was good and the artists are very talented.  I used to frequent the Ivory Club and was sad when in closed down, so I was thrilled to see some of the best still in action at this venue.

The music was all over the place - oldies, rock, blues, modern, rap.  It was a good mix and there was something for everyone.  The room was filled with a lot of party groups - stagettes etc and would not be the best place to go as a single lady as girls outnumbered guys 2:1 easily.  Lots of singing and dancing and lost voices later, we stumbled home nearly deaf but satisfied at 1 am.

The reason I am giving this place three stars is this:  Show - excellent, talent - they are lucky to have these people, service - subpar (we often were left with empty drinks and had to flag down our waitress), and prices were inflated for food that was nothing spectacular.

I will be back again for the show, but am annoyed by the minimum table charge with forces me to eat/drink a certain amount just to be there, and as my fiance doesn't drink, and I won't be eating the food again, this could present a very drunken problem on my end!

Four stars, strictly for the live entertainment.  Those folks have some serious talent going on.

Other than that, I found it to be a fairly standard nightclub experience.  Insanely loud music, cute waitresses in short skirts, and appropriately scowly security staff, who are a lot friendlier than they look.  I guess there is also some sort of cover charge, but my buddy somehow conned the doorman to comp us for that.

I was also impressed with the fact that I only had to wait at the bar for about 10 seconds before I was served, especially considering how busy it was (Saturday night).  The waitress (once we sat down) was attentive, and no one in our group seemed to lack for beverages.

Can't comment on the food, since we ate somewhere else.

Finally, somewhere good to go for food in WEM! As much as I like some of the other chains on Bourbon Street (Boston Pizza, Old Spaghetti Factory, etc) the WEM locations tend to, well, fall a little short.

The ambiance in the Red Piano is actually really cool in my opinion. The place is fairly closed off to the mall, and there are a lot of cloth/leather/padded things on the wall for decoration. These two things combined create a nice quiet getaway!! You can barely even tell you're still in the mall! And the lounge area is enough towards the back of the restaurant that if you want a nice quiet dinner, you got it.

The place looks and feels very upscale... and with that comes scaled up prices. This is my only real complaint about the restaurant... I do think some of their dishes should be half the price. They have some pretty wicked daily specials to get around this, but the good ones tend to fall on days I'm not available. Too bad.

The food itself is impressive. They're actually pretty unique in my opinion. Popcorn alligator? I rest my case. My favorite dish is actually one of their appetizers, which includes four jumbo prawns with a spicy batter on them. This is the only restaurant I've been to where the yam fries are good. If a place can make you like something you don't like, definite points in their favor.

I've been there a few times and once in a while the service has been on the slow side, but not excruciatingly so. Usually my friends and I are taking a break from shopping, so the additional sit-down time is welcome. Sometimes the staff have not been very personable, but I've never encountered a rude staff member or anything to the point where we did not enjoy our experience.

This is a great place to have a nice dinner and relax while you're shopping!

I haven't ever eaten here, just drinks and dancing/singing. It's pretty fun and definitely entertaining. You don't come across a lot of piano bars, and this place definitely has some talented people up on the piano. If you're looking for a fun night out, definitely stop by here -- located right in West Ed, it's pretty convenient too.

The Red Piano is a perfect mixture of class, partying and live entertainment.

With two beautiful piano's as the focal point centered in the establishment, the music is nothing short of impressive. You can hear everything from classic rock, to Sean Paul, to The Beatles, to Tom Petty and even Rihanna.

For the drinkers who enjoy girly fruit-fusion cocktails, the bar has a wide selection of drinks to choose from.

Located on Bourbon Street in West Edmonton Mall, I'll admit, I wouldn't advise walking through the mall after your party is over. However, the waitress staff and bouncers were a good co-operative bunch for the entirety of the evening.

Aside from the jam-packed bar, the service was great.

I'd recommend the Red Piano for stags, stagettes, work parties or a good old fashioned girls' night out.

Of course, everything comes at a price -- including song requests -- but there's something about sipping your favourite drink, next to your favourite people with your request playing in front of you.

It's an experience to be had.

    Two thumbs up.

I have been to the Red Piano bar a few times now and it is always a good time. The piano players play and sing a variety of music which I really like. The decor is beautiful and the drinks are fantastic and not too over priced. The only thing I haven't been too fond of is the food. It is quite pricey and average. I would definitely recommend the Piano Bar if you are looking for a place to listen to some good music and have some drinks.

The food is entirely forgettable and the cocktails are decent but expensive. The service? Worst. Ever. I was there for a friend's bachelorette and the waitress seated us and didn't return to take our orders for at least 20 minutes and the place wasn't even that busy. Throughout the evening she rarely checked up on us and always seemed annoyed if we flagged her down. We left her a decent tip (15%) but after we left and were standing outside the place, she actually walked out and asked why we did not leave her a bigger tip!

The Red Piano is a piano lounge where there are two pianos in the middle of the room and the pianists play everything from modern to classic songs on the piano and they sing too! The show differs depending on the audience and runs on customers' requests all night long. The show starts at 9pm with dining available before and during. It is $10 admission for standing and $20 for sitting. If you chose to go in to dine and stay for the show, it is $10 and the cost of your meal. It is highly recommended that if you want to dine before the show, to make reservations a good week in advance. I took away one star since the alcohol (as expected) and the food is slightly overpriced but you're pretty much paying for the atmosphere anyway.

I went the Red Piano with a friend and her date. We had a great time! We had dinner elsewhere so was just there for the show. You pay admission, the same time you check your coats which is right at the door. All the waiters wear a red tie with a black dress shirt and the waitresses wear a red scarf with a black dress. So chic! :D

As mentioned, there is another piano dueling bar in Edmonton on the southside, on 2940 Calgary Trail South called The Ivory Club & Ebony Lounge. I went there for a friend's birthday once. I like Red Piano's atmosphere alot better. I felt the Ivory Club was more of a bar/club atmosphere and more noisy. The Red Piano is more upscale with nice decor, from nicely decorated walls and the ceiling to little candles on the tables.

We just ordered drinks since we had already eaten and they have everything from your martini's to Red Bull. I found the hostess to be very good (even helped us find the last booth) and we were served relatively quickly since we went on a packed Friday night.

I tried to make reservations last minute for Valentine's Day but needless to say, they were booked weeks in advance. I did find out that you only need reservations for the dinner. If you are just there for the show at 9pm, more space is opened up for more people and is on a walk-in basis. I would definitely recommend and go back again for another night out on the town.

    The Red Piano
This is such a perfect place for Bourbon Street, the WEM replica of the wild and spirited New Orleans strip. The Red Piano is a dueling piano bar. If you want lively entertainment with a touch of class and pizzazz, try this place out one weekend.

When I went it was packed. The music was excellent and the crowd got right into it. There's another place like this in town called The Ivory Club, but I like this one better - it's super classy and chic inside, and has an upscale nightclub feel to it. The food here is also fairly good, if a bit overpriced. They serve up cajun food - catfish, jambalaya, corn bread, spicy peppers, etc. We went as a group and it was lots of fun for everyone. It's nice to do something, not just focus on conversation the whole time. Having live music, a dinner theatre show, etc. can be a good idea, especially with a group of people who doesn't normally hang out and you're not sure how they'll mesh. You can't go wrong with this place.

The first people you meet, the greeter and seaters, are super rude, interrupting your questions constantly, and are sometimes not even there for five minutes, despite the "please wait to be seated" sign.

The servers are fine but often look frazzled -- I think it's tough to get enough good employees, so they work long hours on the weekends.

The decor is lovely, really lovely, and should be seen at least once.  Their overhead lights at the back are amazing and your jaw will drop when you go into the bathroom.  No, seriously!  Even their water bottles are fun.

The food?  Mostly good.  Their beignets are NOT good, don't try them.  In fact, most of the desserts are not worth your time nor money.  The Po' Boys are your best bet.

I've never been there during the dueling pianos and hope to try the place out then, although I have a feeling the service would be even worse when it's busy.

Unless you're going on one of the nights they are playing on the piano, it is not worth it. I found the place to be over-hyped and disappointing. The food was nothing special and overpriced. The drinks fair no better and would end up putting a big hole in your wallet if you were not keeping track. The staff were also not very enthusiastic, and even when there were only 4 other tables to serve, our waiter would barely come around.

If you're coming here for their entertainment, then go for it. The pianists are talented and can play anything requested. It brings in something unique into the west end area. As other people have said, go for the entertainment, not the food.

What I dislike is how they make you pay a $10 'cover fee', even if you are going for their dining experience...it makes the meal feel like a rip-off.

Red Piano is pretty expensive and unable to live up to the hype of their claims of having the best food in town. The food is pretty good but not the best and, for just pretty good food,  the prices are high.

They have great entertainment and the musicians are very talented! They had such a great energy and played a variety of music, they even played TV Show theme songs.

Red Piano makes for a pretty special night.

Who knew?  There we were, just done with another strenuous workshop and we decided to "stay in" at the Edmonton Mall, only to stumble on this treasure.  Eat at the bar and you'll enjoy a casual dinner, just before the fairly cool entertainment.  The food, service, management all excel and will make sure you have some fun and enjoy some eclectic, delicious dishes, and a well stocked bar.

I've only been here for the food, never the entertainment.

The decor is stunning. I couldn't get enough of the bright red everything!

We were seated fairly promptly and the service was good, nothing special though. We ordered the chicken po`boy with tomato basil soup, and the portabella sandwich with the grapefruit salad. The po`boy`s only saving grace was the bread which had the most flavor of anything on the plate. I love me some tomato basil soup and can say this was the worst I've had. It wasn't terrible, just noticeably the worst. I didn't try any of my friends portabella, but it did look delicious.
We ordered the beignets and white chocolate creme brulee with rhubarb. Both desserts were great! I've never had an authentic beignets before but I would compare it to those mini donuts you get at football games or the ex. Very tasty and you get LOTS! Creme brulee could have used a little more crunch sugar on top but the rhubarb was to die for!

I would love to come back on a night with live entertainment, that is what it's all about after all. Although I have to say I'm put off by other reviewers comments that there is a $10 cover. Hopefully I'll be able to return soon and write about that experience.
