I absolutely loved our one night stay at the Red Coach Inn. I was wishing we could have stayed an extra day! The room was small, but comfortable and well laid out. The provided a small cheese & cracker plate, as well as a small bottle of sparkling wine - a lovely touch! My boyfriend and I ate dinner there, we were there on a Tuesday night, so it was very quiet, and we had a lovely view of the rapids. My salmon was positively delicious, and my boyfriend's steak was perfect. We were both completely happy with our meals. The serving sizes were generous as well, with the bread appetizer and our entrées, we had no room for dessert. Breakfast was also delicious. We would definitely stay and eat there again!

A lovely dining room, but we had very slow service (time from our reservation -- 3:30 PM -- to our food being placed on the table -- 5:15 PM). We even showed up early just so they would know were were there and could seat us on time (we didn't expect to be seated early). The waiter was completely out of his element. And when our food did show up, only 3 of the 4 of us got our food. The other had to wait and wait so we just began eating. To be fair, we reserved for a party of 3, and there were four of us -- but we phoned in advance to change the reservation so they should have been able to accommodate us. (Maybe the one late plate was their revenge for our changing our reservation?)

Food was sort of okay but I've had much better in chain restaurants.

So, if you like to sit in a lovely dining room, get slow service and just-okay food, Red Coach Inn is the place to go.

Frustrating, because I really wanted to like this restaurant (12/2011). Went to dinner with my boyfriend after a fun day at the falls for vacation and was in search of a well-made steak. Was seated near a window and, though it was nighttime, you could see the street that overlooks the falls. Ambiance is nice, romantic, dimmed lighting and cute fireplace in the main seating area.

They gave us complementary french bread with 3 different delicious butters which we ate a LOT of while we were waiting for our steaks. Random observation: they have an abnormally short wine list for a steakhouse? Also, being in an area with so many wineries, one would expect more local wines and such, but very odd nonetheless. Few beers on draft.

Ordered the prime rib medium and my boyfriend ordered a ribeye, medium as well. They were both over cooked, the ribeye cooked to well-done and the prime rib cooked almost well-done, but with a touch of pink in the very center, not enough to be medium-well. I didn't feel right about complaining because I hate the idea of wasting a steak.

Staff was nice, most seemed to have an accent of eastern european descent? May try a different place for the good steak next time I'm in the area.

Came here in March on a Monday night and there were only about 4-5 tables, so a slow night. Overall, we had a nice meal. They won't blow you away here with a fine culinary experience, but they do have some interesting appetizers and entrees. And steak and fresh fish for the less adventurous. Best I can tell, this is the best (only?) high-end restaurant on the American side of the falls outside of the casino.

The weird part about this restaurant is their prices. For example, the wine list is crazy high for this market. Most of the bottles on their list are $50-60 and up. On the other hand, the food menu is loaded with $5-8 appetizers and $15-20 entrees. But then they also have $30 steaks. The pricing really is all over the map and very inconsistent.

Nevertheless, if you're looking for a nice meal then this is the place.

Having stayed in the Red Coach Inn's second finest suite (it's a recession!), I can say that if I were to somehow feel like I wanted to return to the American side the next time I visit Niagara Falls, then this is my go-to hotel. It's actually really nice. Have I stayed in nicer? Of course I have. But as hotels in this area go, this one might be upper echelon stuff right here.

I thought the staff was quite accommodating and very friendly. The second finest suite was quite affordable, and had a very homey, if not faux Victorian look to it. The second finest suite also included breakfast, which was edible and mediocre. One of the reviewers, Lily O., said that its restaurant took her ostrich virginity. Dang! Had I known that was an option, I would've given it up, too. Alas, I don't recall seeing the exotic bird on the menu. It was, otherwise, typical Continental.

Ah, but where I put the stars on this place is its fantastic location. Every morning, I walked about 50 steps (give or take 50, mostly give) to the rapids that feeds the falls-- the site of which is both awe-inspiring and pee-in-your-pants'ring. I took out my cam, and I couldn't take an ugly shot if I tried. The roar of the rapids, the threat of imminent danger and the humbling reminder that no matter how big you think you are, you are still very, very small-- these are-- wait, this now has nothing to do with the hotel. Oh well, it was there in the background when I was thinking all these things, so it's kinda sorta relevant? :-)

After a 6 hour drive to Niagara, we wanted a quick bite before the fireworks show at the falls for Victoria Day. So the show is supposed to start at 10a and we got there about 9:15. We told the hostess and server right as we got there that we wanted a quick bite to catch the show. They were slow at first with getting our drinks and orders, but the server was great!

This place took my ostrich virginity! And they cooked it perfectly.. it was tender and cooked perfectly and had a great flavor without the gamey-ness.  And the rest of the food (french onion soup and some appetizer thing, and other stuff I can't remember because I procrastinate and review 2 months later...). I do remember that the food was amazing, we even had time to get dessert before catching the fireworks. And the server (a female but I don't remember her name) was very nice and knew our urgency.

I'd definitely visit this place again if I visit the falls again.

The location is great also... along the way walking from the rapids to the falls.

This review is for the restaurant only.

The place is very pretty.  It has an old world kind of charm.  The waitstaff is also very helpful and accomodating.  They are however quite slow.  It seems slow service is the norm in Niagara NY.

The drinks were very good, as was the food.  I had the surf and turf which was a bit different from most places.  The surf was scallops cooked to perfection.  The turf was ostrich steak.  I've only had ostrich once before in burger form and it tasted like beef.  The way this dish was prepared it came off kind of like lamb.  Very good.

This is a great place for meal while looking at the water rushing towards the NY falls.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel.
Pros: Love the room, big double beds with lovely bathroom. There were refreshments in the fridge along with a small bottle of bubbling wine. They were tiny portions, but still, I appreciate that they were actually free. Location is perfect, right opposite the Niagara Falls.
Cons: The staff there were rude and snobbish. The breakfast was really average, we waited for 25 minutes to be precise before the waitress finally came took the order, than another 25 minutes for us to get our food--omelets and pancakes.None of them was exciting. But I guess i cannot really complain when they were free?
To conclude, I would recommend families stay in the hotel if they have planned only 1 or two nights in Niagara Falls. However, I do think they need to improve their services, BIG TIME!

Stopped in this restaurant after a visit to the Falls. The decor and seating are nice. I sat near the window and could look out on the river. I told the waitress I was in a bit of a rush and ordered the salmon salad. It took much longer than expected and was a very small portion. It was pretty tasty, though. They provide complimentary sliced French bread and butter.

There were a few beers on tap, including Guinness - one of my favorites.

This is a quaint place in an area lacking much character. The American side of the falls tends to be a bit 'run down', but The Red Coach Inn is different.  It's been here since the 1920's. A lot has changed around it, but it maintains a charm.
Our waitstaff were European (Hungarian I think) who were attentive and professional. I had an expertly done filet mignon, although another at our table thought her salmon too dry.
This is a perfect place to have an early dinner and then take a short walk to the falls to watch the nightly illuminations or fireworks.

We went here for a Sunday brunch. While the food quality was slightly above average, the slow service and extremely weak coffee make it difficult to recommend this place. At the end, we waited 25 minutes to get the wrong check and another 15 minutes to get the right check. They could have cared less about our inconvenience.

Well I was not expected that much but this restaurant still failed to meet expectations.
We asked to sit outside and the hostess told us it was closed only for us to watch from inside while other people eat and were merry on the patio.
The service was supper slow and not very friendly. The rolls did make up for some of the delay because they were so delicious and came with strawberry butter and balsamic. (this is probably not true for everyone but I really like breads).
I ordered a salad and mussels while my husband had a salmon dinner. My salad was pretty good and relatively balanced. Our dinner came out much much later.  My mussels were cold and overcooked, I couldn't eat them and was pretty disgusted. I sent them back without even an apology from the waitress.  My husbands food was good and while not amazing he enjoyed it.
If I am going to eat lousy food in Niagra I should at least be able to see the falls not the street and trees in front of the river leading to the falls!

    *reviewing restaurant, not hotel portion*

We were looking for a non-cheesey restaurant in Niagara Falls and this is the best we seemed to find after a quick search...

Street parking in front was free and easy (2 hr max though).

Initial reaction as we walked in for a table was odd... It's a bed&breakfast/hotel and there were about 10 people standing in front of the desk trying to check in.  Unfortunately for us, the check-in desk is also the same desk they use for a restaurant host.  So we had to sit and listen to two groups of people whine about not having keys to their room, etc., when all we wanted was a damn table.

They have a covered porch that is OK.   The benches were very old fashioned and a bit uncomfortable.  Tables were right on top of one another and the nearby tables were full of annoying people (one table I believe part of a wedding party somehow).

We had two waitresses working in a pair.

They daily specials printout had a wine "feature" but they were out of it and didn't have any close substitute.

I got the "Saturday burger" ...(though it was Sunday?).  It was OK, but forgettable.  It had a bunch of stuff mixed in and was a bit meatloafy in texture because of that.  I think the real flaw in the mixture was it was a bit "saucey" inside.  Onion rings that came w/ it were very good.  Had to ask for Dijon or Grey Poupon and the waitress looked at me like I was from Mar's, but they ended up having it.

Food was about what I expected in the middle of Niagara Falls... average.  I guess it could have been worse.

This is a very special place for me. It's where I come on special days, once every few years. It's completely out of my normal price range. It has outdoor seating with a gorgeous view of the Rapids leading down to the Falls. It's perfect.

The service can be really nice, it's a little posh and hoity-toity but that is one of the reasons you come here.

I don't rate their entrees very highly and they are overpriced. However, their appetizers are excellent, specifically the feta-stuffed bacon-wrapped shrimp, which at $12 is utterly overpriced, but it's also one of the most delicious appetizers you will ever eat, and is the best thing on their menu.

Their French Onion Soup covered in Mozzarella is probably the best French Onion Soup I have ever had. They will bring you bread, butter, and oil, and that is also off-the-charts delicious.

Other than that, nothing I tried here was amazing, but for those 3 things alone (which combined will set you back less than $20) and the memories, this is a hands-down, eternal 5.

We purchased the groupon for this hotel and make the 7 hour trek from Philly on black Friday. Neither one of us had ever been to the falls and I had heard mixed things about being on the American side so let me be clear...looking over the water to the Canadian side makes me feel like I'm looking at Vegas from the desert but with that being said, we enjoyed our stay sooo much that we would totally stay on the American side again, given the chance. The hotel is quite charming and feels so warm. The staff could not have been more accommodating and wonderful. We had a HUGE suite with a fireplace, jetted tub and all the works...now this place is by no means modern..it could use a few updates but i firmly believe the older classic feel is way better than some cookie cutter hotel with "clean lines". Breakfast was included with our stay and this is NOT a continental bfast..There was eggs Benedict, eggs Oscar, stuffed french toast, Belgian waffles, fresh squeezed juice and on and on and on. The location is amazing...you can literally hear the water from your room. A fun fact..this is where Jim and Pam from the office came on their honeymoon! Anywho, if you're staying on the American side this is hands down the only place stay and it's like a mile to the border so you could stay here and still spend all day in Canada. We will be going back! Thank you Red Coach!

i cannot say enough about this flower sprouting out of the pile of manure that is niagara falls.

i got married here a few weeks ago, and everything was absolutely perfect and very well-priced.

the suites are so luxurious; honestly, our room was twice the size of our west village apartment. the victorian decor is consistent in the rooms and throughout the hotel. we had a party with 50 people the night before the wedding in our suite. My mother-in-law was staying downstairs and did not hear a thing (and it was quite a rager with guitars and loud, drunken singing) that's solid construction there.

the room where we got married (the niagara, i think) was sunny, well decorated, and just the right size for an intimate wedding. the food they served us was delicious, and the bar staff were great.

it's obvious that this place is well-loved and well taken care of by its staff and owners. incredibly high quality in every aspect of their business.

    thank you!

    "Red Coach, Standing By!"

I can't say enough about the Red Coach Inn.  Its' right next to Niagara Falls...you'd think that would make it really loud there, but it isn't.  Its just the kind of place where you can fantasise that your in a fantasy novel with a big fireplace and wood and dark and candles and waitresses that dont like to be called "wenches".  We took Gramma there for her birthday.  She got steak, but we had to cut it up for her.  She doesnt have any of her real teeth anymore.  The beard is yummy with theyre honey butter!  Grilled portobella was yumm to.  For a mushroom.  Try to find a coupon, if you can, tho, its expensive.

PROS: Good food and lots of candles
    CONS: Parking is a chore

I came here for a wedding and if I ever go back to Niagara Falls, will definitely visit the Red Coach Inn again.

The building is gorgeous and has a gorgeous view of the falls.  There are three floors and our party was on the third floor.  Service was a bit slow at times 'cause the servers had to climb all those stairs.

I had the salmon with twice baked potato and veggies which were excellent.  Others had chicken or prime rib and they liked those.  The salad and dressings were good.  They also had strawberry butter which was unique and delicious.  I also liked the wine they had, though I never found out what it was.

Pleasant B&B in "picturesque" Niagara Falls, NY...

Came here for dinner last week and I was fully satisfied with the food, service and atmosphere.  As it was the middle of the week, the place wasn't quite hopping, but it was great nonetheless.  I'd been here a few years back for a wedding... the upstairs has banquet facilities and a great outdoor patio with a great view of The Falls.

We were seated downstairs, so our view was a bit obscured.  No matter, the entrees made up for it.  The menu is not that big, but they offer unique dishes and spins on a few classics.  I ordered Vegetarian Crepes... very tasty and interesting.  I ate every last bit.  The service was prompt and friendly.  The desserts were outstanding... we went with a flourless chocolate cake, which was among the richest treats i've EVER indulged in!  Overall, an enjoyable night out.

Check out their website for details on their other amenities as well as their full menu.

I was looking for a good relaxing dinner. I was told about the Red Coach Inn and also read the reviews here. I figured I was going to give it a try.

First. I had no problem getting a table on a weekday. I did have a similar experience that someone else mentioned. This is the fact that there were two people serving my table.( actually there was a third person being trained) This is the first time I have encountered something like this and I have gone to many different types of restaurants.

The food was great! I had the Cream of Potato soup to start things out. The soup was very good. I then ended up ordering the Prime Rib. The prime rib was pretty good. It was very tender and juicy. This came with mashed potatoes and they were really good.

The people helping me out were great. They checked in on me on a regular basis, but not too many times.

It is very old fashion looking inside, but well kept.

The prices were a bit high. It came to about $40 per person with a soft drink. I would have given them 4 stars if the price was a little lower.

Would I return? Maybe. The only reason I say maybe is the high price makes this a special occasion place for me.

If I could rate this place zero stars I would.  Here is a great example of how to drive customers away. We were a party of 8 wanting to get some food a little better quality than the fast food cafes at the falls. We went in and they were not busy but made us wait 5 mins to get a table ready. Not a big deal. So then we are seated and aside from the dirty looks from the wait staff are completely ignored. We waited about 15 minutes and then told them they were obviously too busy or understaffed to take our money. We left. Seems to me they rely on the unsuspecting tourist dollar.

We were two couples celebrating a 31st wedding anniversary.  So it was a special occasion.  What a beautiful restaurant, but what a huge disappointment!  Food was terrible. A steak was ordered med rare and it came out extremely rare --it was sent back to be cooked more, and came out the same way---had to be sent back a second time. I couldn't even eat my shrimp pasta dinner--it was the most disgusting pasta dish I have ever seen--it was a few pieces of raw shrimp in a dish with about ten noodles swimming in dish water.  Had to k for more bread and refills on drinks. Would never ever recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy.  And it's expensive, save your money and go elsewhere.  Oh, the French onion soup was good--I'll give them that.

Service was veeeeeery slow. We were not on a rush, but the place was almost empty; it should have been a lot faster. I think they forgot about our meal. The food was - eventually - okay, except the green beans in my girlfriend's meal tasted weird. The Guinness was fresh and the ambiance was nice, but I don't plan on  coming here again. They have free wifi, which is a plus. I can get a Canadian Rogers signal here a 5 bars as well. After bad beans and a very long wait, they didn't apologize or comp anything.

We needed a restaurant on the American side of the Falls to meet up with people coming in from a different location than we did.  This fit the bill.  It was easy to find and we could leave our cars parked in the back when we walked over to Goat Island to get the American view.  Since we knew little about the restaurant before going it turned out to be a very happy result.  The atmosphere was lovely, old colonial, quaint and clean.  We were given a quiet round table for six which made it easy to visit.  Three of the six of us had the open terriyaki salmon which came with sweet potato fries.  Delicious! Two of the others had a pasta dish, which my husband found a bit bland. Our server, while attentive, didn't hover nor make us feel like we needed to leave our table when we finished.  A great start to a weekend at the Falls.

We were vacationing in Niagara Falls for Thanksgiving week.  It was about 2.5 block from our hotel and we decided to try them out...after all, I had http://Restaurant.com coupons!  The food was great, I had the chicken caesar salad and I think he had the pork stir fry for lunch.  My salad was good but his stir-fry was a bit too salty.  Service was average and the place was super nice and cozy.  We came back the next day for dinner, we both had steaks this time.  When my bf reached for the salt to sprinkle a little on the steak...well, the salt mill was loose and dumped a ton of salt on his steak.  It was somewhat salvageable and scraped off what we could before the salt dissolved to much. He ate probably less than half.  We let the waitress know what happened and she offered another plate.  We weren't there to get a free meal, we just wanted to let her know about the salt mill.  To our surprise, she took off $10 on the bill.  Our waitress was great and nice.  We would go back when we're in Niagara again.

Our server was very pleasant and the food was really not bad, but I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE LIE ABOUT THEIR INGREDIENTS.  I ate at the Red Coach Inn last night with my husband and his parents.  While the ambiance and decor were enjoyable, I would not feel comfortable returning.  The food tasted fine, but I experienced a major misrepresentation in my meal.  I ordered "Lobster Mac & Cheese" but when my meal arrived, I found that my "lobster" was actually crawfish.  I do not have problems with crawfish and have even attended a crawfish festival in the past, but when I order lobster, I expect the dish to contain lobster.  I alerted our server and when she returned from the kitchen, she said that the chef insisted that it was lobster that was cut up.  However, the "lobster" on my plate had no cut marks in them and were the size of baby shrimp except that they looked like tiny whole lobster tails, hence crawfish.  As an individual who enjoys lobster and is familiar with the taste, texture and appearance of lobster in its many forms, I can say definitively that I was not served lobster.  We were not offered any compensation for this issue.  Crawfish and lobster are not the same.  Again, I must stress that I take issue with the blatant misrepresentation of the food so I would not trust this place to actually provide what they offer.

My review is for the restaurant only.  My husband and I ate there on Fri., 10/14 on our first trip to Niagara Falls.  The ambiance is lovely, very charming in an area with very little charm (the Canadian side is so much better).  Our food was average, and the service atrocious.  We ordered a bottle of wine when we ordered our meal.  Our waitress came back 10 minutes later, to confirm our wine order.  Another 10 minutes later we snagged the manager passing by, to check on our wine.  Another 5 minutes later I left our table and went to the bar (in the next room) to ask again about our bottle of wine.  Since we were 3/4 through with our entree, I changed the order to 2 glasses of wine.  Believe it or not, our waitress came to our table yet again to confirm our order, saying there was a mix-up with another table.  At that point we were through eating (neither of us finished our entree) and we cancelled our wine.  The table next to us complained because their meal came immediately after their appetizer.  Someone wasn't paying attention - either the wait staff or the manager.   At these prices, the service should be top notch.  It's the first time in my life that I didn't leave a tip.  All in all, a miserable experience (which we wrote on the check).

The atmosphere was cozy and the food was awesome.  The strawberry honey butter was exquisite, the clam chowder delicious (clams tender not chewy) and the steak was perfectly prepared.  A bit pricey, but worth it when you consider the ambiance and service.

The food and service were pretty good, and we found that there isn't a lot of competition in Niagara Falls on the US side if you are looking for something other than a chain or Indian restaurant. Unfortunately we were held hostage by a small child whose parents let her run all around the table and who shrieked whenever they tried to rein her in. I know it's hard for a restaurant to deal with that gracefully, but no one made any effort whatsoever and it just went on and on.
