    Love this place!

I stopped in here while on vacation, and couldn't have been happier with my choice. This comfortable but modern diner has wonderful, traditional breakfast (served all day). Something for everybody and every appetite. The woman who runs the place is really nice and down to Earth. She runs the counter and waits on all the tables, as well as is cashier. We felt comfortable at this place, full of locals. There is a TV in the corner (hockey on of course, this is Canada) but it wasn't at all distracting. My only complaint is the coffee - a bit bitter and not the best I've had. But they have a good tea selection, and you get your own little pot. We liked it so much, we went back the next morning, and were sad when we had to leave town.

    Highly recommended!

All day breakfast? Yes please. I love finding these places.

The bench is a little diner place with semi-outdoor seating (though in the fall not too many folks out there), and indoors, a breakfast bar, a few tables, and tv's. It's a simple sort of place, with a great breakfast menu. They've all all the basics, and quite a selection of benedicts too (which I was tempted to try).

Instead I went with The Bench, which is as it turns out a lot of food. One big pancake (see picture), 2 eggs, 4 half slices of toast, hashbrowns, little fruit bits, and juice. All of it was cooked perfectly. The waitress there was very down to earth and friendly. She could have probably used more help, though I wouldn't call the service slow, but she was running a bit ragged.

If you're looking for a place that serves just a normal solid breakfast, but want to try the local fare instead of a chain, give the Red Bench a try.

When I leave large cities, I have this unfounded assumption that things might be not quite right. This added to having grown up in Vancouver and heard a lot of Squamish jokes made me a little leery of a local "pub".

    Wow was I ever wrong.

After a lovely morning climbing the Chief I was famished. We sat down on the lovely little patio which was perfectly shaded and warm and decided to chow down!

We each had Caesars which were some of the best I've ever had. With a lovely pepper salt mix on the rim and fresh horseradish these babies were fabulous and a great hot afternoon refresher.

I had the burger. I don't eat gluten, so I asked them to do it no bun, so it came on a couple of large pieces of lettuce with the usual onions and tomatoes. I used the lettuce to form a wrap and dug in. My gosh was this an amazing burger.

The fries were homemade and divine.

All in all I was really impressed with this place, service was great, food was great, drinks were great, all in all it was a great little stop in Squamish!

How about I start by saying their Bloody Caesars are $5.50 and even have fresh grated horseradish in them along with a salt rim that's their own secret, delicious recipe.

Need more? OK. I had the Cobb Salad and it was delicious. Instead of the traditional hard boiled egg it came with a freshly poached one. My friends had burgers and couldn't stop saying how good the fries were. Another had the Asian noodle dish and said it was good too.

They have a cozy, back patio but it's covered so you don't need to worry about sunscreen. It had candleabras too so I bet it's pretty at night.

A lovely little cafe on the way to Whistler.

The Red Bench is in Brackendale, practically the only surviving small town on the way to Whistler.

It's got an all day breakfast, good service, and a nice laid-back ambience.

Just look for the General Store: the Red Bench is next door.

A local introduced me to the Red Bench for breakfast and am I ever glad they did. The Bench isn't your standard greasy spoon with some 50's knock off commercial art on the wall. The vibe is organic and the nosh is great.  Both presentation and flavour have been well thought out and executed. I wholeheartedly recommend this little Squamish gem.
