I absolutely love this venue. First of all, it's absolutely gorgeous!! The renovations have done wonders. Second of all, the theatre itself is grand, and the acoustics are fantastic. And finally, whether you see a musical, or a play, or a band here... You will be awed. Most recently I've seen Wicked, Mamma Mia, Cats, City & Colour, Phoenix, Avenue Q... and every time I've had an amazing experience.

This is a World Class Theatre: I first experienced the magic of this space during the Cultural Olympiad in 2010. The seats are comfortable. The stage is large the acoustics are very good. I have sat in several parts of the theatre and its always been able to hear and see the performances clearly.
The Ridiculous: Even after the renovations the women restroom have inadequate capacity. Every intermission you see long lines outside women's restrooms and it looks ridiculous.
The Less Good: Only a small portion Vancouver residents who support the Theatre with their tax dollars get the opportunity to see performances that are staged there due to the Theatres high operating costs.
Don't worry if there a great Opera or Ballet being staged at this location I see you there. -

The renovations are ASTOUNDING! The new outside area of the theater and the inside railings are all brand new. Most of the walls have no more cracks and the place is back up and running!! I am so excited to have been here again!! This places has tons of memories for me as well, I have graduated here in this building and also watched Lady Gaga's theatrical performance here as well.
Recently I was here for Wicked the Broadway Touring Musical. It was an AMAZING performance. The people that worked there are extremely professional. And also they had cheap drinks that night. I enjoyed it. A nice rum/coke was 4 bucks. I loved that.
The place is up and running again, and I am happy for that. Anytime there is an amazing show in Vancouver, most of the time they are at the Queen Elizabeth Theater. -

This is a lovely theatre, one in which every seat is a good one. I know this because when I went to see the Cuban Ballet, I was in the 3rd row from the back... or the top... Whatever way you want to look at it, the show was still amazing! Beware... take cash for the bar!

I love this place. If you have a chance to see Wicked there you're in for a treat. The staff are always great. They only take cash at the bar and it's worth pre-ordering your intermission cocktails. If it's nice outside there's a big patio to stand on and chat while having your drink.
The seats could be more comfortable, especially for tall guys but other than that, no complaints.Listed in: Ain't Nothing Like the Real…

I love this old theatre.
We went for Riverdance. I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. Comfortable seating, beautiful surroundings, it's a wonderful place to spend a few hours. -

Came here for the first time to see "Wicked." Was so pleased that the interior was recently renovated, tasteful, clean, and beautiful on the inside. It's unfortunate that the exterior is so subdue, because I had no idea it was a great theatre even though I walked past it many times just because it practically 'blended' in with the sidewalk.
The staff inside was friendly, the acoustics were fantastic, and the seats were surprisingly comfortable. Even with tall people seated in front of me, I found that I was still easily able to see the stage due to the set up which was great.
I enjoyed the fact that you could walk outside during the intermission for some fresh air.
I'm looking forward to the next time I see a show here. -

The Queen Elizabeth is beautiful. I've seen a variety of performances here - everything from rock bands to stand-up comedians to an opera, although not all of the performances that I've seen have been astounding, the location never fails to please. The new renovations really have made a difference. The lighting is lovely, the seats are comfortable, and you have a good view from pretty much every location. It's definitely one of the classier theatres in Vancouver. Bring cash for the bar and coat check.

I absolutely adore old theatres and this one is no exception. From the marble floors to the high ceilings adorned with chandeliers to the absolutely beautiful theatre space, this one is top notch.
I've only been a couple times to see the opera (so fancy!) and have loved the experience. When ordering pre-show drinks the bartenders are super friendly (though last time they had a bit of a fruit fly situation), the ushers know their stuff (the first time I went, we had to arrange accessible seating for a friend with a broken leg and it was done quickly and with no fuss) and, having been on a couple backstage tours, I know the theatre managers are super friendly and enthusiastic about their space.
The only thing I didn't see was accessible bathrooms (but I didn't explore the whole building) - the only bathrooms I've been to are downstairs from the main floor and, while beautiful, I didn't notice if there was an elevator to access them.
If you see that your favourite show is playing at the Queen E, definitely snap up some tickets, throw on your best fancy duds and enjoy and thoroughly classy night out.Listed in: Do Stuff!

I enjoy this building so much. As a venue it feels... special, mainly because it's not a new building and has a beautiful open feel to it. Parly because I only come here on special occasions. Great seating in the theatre area, perfect acoustics, wonderful performances.
My best advice: Pre-order your drinks before the show starts so that you don't have to wait in line during intermission! It feels so baller to do that, heehee.Listed in: Your Mom

The Queen Elizabeth Theatre was built in 1959 and is a modern building. A glass front and a giant outdoor patio is the place to do wine and or cocktails pre and inter-show times. The mezzanine doubs as an art gallery, which is so cool as you can see and talk about the art work before and after the play begins. Claywork, paintings, artwork, original works and prints are displayed. I saw Les Miserables and some other travelling plays the Vancouver-Broadway puts on. Cats was a good one. The parking is best left to the garages and worth the $15 or $20 extra dollars.
