This place is just lovely.  I went to the one on Queen West and it is nothing like this place.  If you are in the Beach it is totally worth stopping by.

It is filled with lovely (yes, used it twice), hand-picked and hand-made items.  I would totally drop by here if I needed to get a gift in a pinch.  A lot of the stuff is reasonably priced, and they switch up the window display almost daily.

To all people considering renting space at the Purple Thumb or buying there, please beware!!! Owners do not pay vendors and refuse to follow the contract.

Many vendors have left the Purple Thumb and we see it as our duty to get the word out there. As the owners can control these comments, this post will not be here for long. But if even a few people see it, it will be worth it.

inside the purple thumb, the purple thumb that keeps getting jabbed with a sewing needle or walloped with a hammer as it tries to wrestle a piece of metal into something that might hang on someones ear, are the works of folks at work.

there are more than just thumbs that have gone to work crafting the many accessories, garments and gifts that are on display here.  crafty hands have sewn together ties to make beautiful purses.  steady and patient hands have curled little pieces of paper into designs jumping off cards or dangling as earrings.  caring hands have given birth to childrens clothes and clean hands to soap.

the thumb is populated by artistans and craftspeople that rent space there to show their goods which are either made here in canada or fairly traded from abroad.

the greatest thing is that if you come often you can keep up with a changing stock of items as peoples work develops, as their knuckles keep crackin and their purple spirits start popping out more and more ideas.
