If you want a fantastic dining experience and are not concerned with the price, this is the place to go. Spectacular views, meticulous service, outstanding cocktails, and great food. My wife ordered oysters (cooked). I don't like oysters, but I tried them and was not sorry. I ordered arctic char, which was lightly smoked, delicate and delicious. I was a little disappointed with my $16 winter greens appetizer, but not enough to downgrade the review from 5 stars. It was a perfect place for our 10th anniversary! My wife also got the foraged vegetarian entree, which was very good, but unless you are vegetarian, I would go for seafood, which seems to be their forte.

    Two reviews:  Breakfast and Dinner.

The view is 5 star, totally mesmerizing and the best I've experienced on the West Coast from BC to BC (Baja Calif to British Columbia).

Breakfast was simply awesome.  You can spend as little as 5 bucks for a nice Red River up to $21 for mushroom Benedict.  Great low key service and simply fantastic food and coffee to start the day - 5 stars!

Dinner:  Same service kicked up a notch.  The food was wonderfully prepared down to the details.  My problem is it took me forever to decide on a cocktail from the extensive list - so many unique choices.  My other issue is that the food is so complex that at times it was a challenge to comprehend.  So many ingredients and so many flavors.  The chocolate for desert was excellent.  3.5 stars.

This place has amazing service. I've been to a few other fine dining places, and none of them held a candle to it in this regard. The staff was consistently attentive to our every need.

We did feel that the menu was a little limited for us, as vegetarians. We ate there two nights in a row, and the second night several of the dishes were duplicated, though they were fabulous, so I can't complain too much. And to be fair, the chef did prepare a special tasting menu for us the second night, since the regular tasting menu was all meat based.

The Pointe Restaurant had one of the most amazing views you're going to get... I assume anyway. We were there late in the evening hoping to catch a sunset but it had been a rainy day. We ended up staring off into the fog of the Pacific. That doesn't mean the view isn't there though. ;)

Staff are extremely pleasant, even asking if we had any food allergies when I made the reservation, and later remembering it when we arrived. Nice touch for sure.

One thing I really didn't care for had nothing to do with the restaurant. It is a beef I have with the website version of the menu. No prices listed at all. When you look at the prices for the Wikaninnish Inn itself, and then don't see any prices on the menu it raises some big red flags. I honestly almost didn't go here just because of that. It implies an "if you have to ask you can't afford it" attitude, and I hate that.

So for everyone's information, here are some rough price ranges for the dinner menu.

    Entrees - $29-$37
    Appetizers - $18-$25
    Cocktails - $9+

    About the dinner itself...

I had some carrot pasta halibut shellfish sausage dish, very good. Unusual carrot theme is welcome through-out

The crab perogies were decent, but very over powered by the picked onions that they cone with. If the crab was supposed to be the star, it wasn't. I would recommend the oysters instead. They're some of the best I've had.

I saw this Inn and restaurant on the show "1000 places to see before you die." and decided we had to visit.

We stayed at the inn for four nights and ate breakfast here 3 days and dinner.   The dinner was outstanding, the breakfasts were definitely better than average.  For the most part, the portions here are not large, so if you have a big appetite, you may be disappointed.  I liked that they made many things in house - even the butter served with dinner.   The extra attention to detail really shows.

For breakfast over 3 days we had:
    1.  mushroom bacon brie omelet - full of shitaki and the more exotic mushrooms.  Best mushroom omelet - EVER.  It came with potatoes which were a bit rich.
    2.  Brioche french bread, which was a bit dry.  My daughter was disappointed with it.
    3.  The Pointe Breakfast, with toast made from homeade bread and raspberry jelly,  eggs, sausage (made inhouse and tasted a bit like a bratwurst ) OR bacon on another day.  Ok - scrambled egg portions seemed kind of skimpy.
    4.  Crab Eggs Benedict - rich and full of crab and avocado.  Delicious hollandaise.
    5.  Standard Eggs Benedict - could've used more  Hollandaise and the ham tasted porky to me.

Each day they had house blended juices - some combination of apple, peach, berry, mango juice - a relative bargain at $4.25 for a glass.

    At dinner:
Drinks:  Mai Tai - strong & Missionaries downfall - very peachy and might be my new favorite drink (Didn't taste like it had much alcohol in it.)

    1.  Appetizer:  Crab Pierogie with good, sweet, tangy mustard - wonderful
    2.  Amuse Buche:   Quail fritter - a hint of India - very good
    3.  Seared Halibut and Shellfish sausage with a bunch of orange froth.  My daughter thought the sausage was too salty and had too much tarragon.  I thought sausage was supposed to be salty.   She also thought there was too much orange in this dish.
    4.  Short rib and spotted prawns.  The meat melted in my mouth and the prawns were delicious.
    5.  They served a variety of breads made inhouse.  I can't say I was wowed by the bread here.
    6.  Dessert was a disappointment:  Rasberry sorbet - needed more sugar.  The black sesame crunch was left on the plate.  My daughter thought it was a weird combination.  I'm not a fan of sesame anyway.
Fortunately,  we also got a tiny nibble of dark chocolate with chile, so we ended the meal on a good note.

We ate all meals early, so were fortunate enough to get a table right by the window, which overlooks Chesterman Beach.  It is one of the loveliest beaches I've seen.  The service was warm and friendly and sometimes even funny, not at all stuffy like you might think given the prices.

They also have a coffee lounge in another building that served baked goods, including a pricey but very buttery flakey croissant and the best latte I ever had - including cute latte art.

This is definitely one of the best (and most expensive) restaurants I've ever eaten at.    I hope to come back here before I die.

The view blew me away.  The service made me feel like a princess.  And the food? Sweet Jesus the food.

My friend and I happened upon this ahmaaazing dining experience thanks to fellow yelper, Gabrielle P.  She raved about the vegan meal she enjoyed and we thought "we want that too!"

We called ahead to forewarn the chef about the two vegans coming to dinner - and there was zero problem accommodating us for the following evening.

I fell in loooove with the view.  We sat down at 5pm so it was still light enough to fully enjoy the spectacular ocean view.  It feels like you are eating dinner at the end of the world.

And then the courses just started coming!
Amuse bouche: apple, grape, endive, and meyer lemon salad.
Appetizers:  Beet salad and a Wild Mushroom Broth.
    Salad: Kale, greens, grapes, tastiness
Mains: Toasted quinoa with mushrooms and veg. Cauliflower pakoras over a rice curry
Palate cleanser: Raspberry sorbet on top of pistachios and cocoa nibs
Dessert: mini churros with mole sauce and a tasty sorbet
Treat: quince jelly candies (sans gelatin of course)

There was so much attention to detail and little extras contained in each dish I could blather on forevah.  It was really lovely to have such care and talent in each course!

Our waiter, Ike, was fantastic.  That's really all I can say!  He took extra special care of us and was always on the ball.  Genuinely friendly and a pleasure to interact with.

Thank you for an outrageously ahmazing dining experience!!!!

I will definitely be back the next time I hit up Tofino.

I ordered tuna tempura and it was delicious. The chef did a good job in making the dish, a little hint of ginger and asian flavor with the tuna.
My wife ordered the crab benedict and it was good but not special.
The restaurant's atmosphere and view is georgeous with big windows overlooking the big rocks and sea. Highly recommended for your dining experience in Tofino although the prices are a little expensive.

The chef is clearly taking a bold and creative approach to the menu, which was an unexpected surprise given the remote location of this restaurant which features stunning views.

For starters, a deep fried, baseball-sized beignet housed freshly pulled crab and a succulent scallop in the center. The outer texture was similar to a light batter of fish and chips - crunchy and golden. It was served on a shallow layer of cayenne-infused sauce. Tasty. My main was a wacky yet satisfying combination of rich sablefish with pork belly. The fish was melt-in-your-mouth tender, made even richer with a tamarind glaze. I was afraid the sauce, which also tasted of pork, might overpower the fish, but it worked. The earthy bits of pork belly tucked under a cracker of sorts were like intense bits if concentrated bacon. In my humble opinion, I'd rather have that strong flavor accompany something equally substantial, as it took a bit for my tastebuds to recalibrate in order to once again appreciate the fish after the pork. My husband had salmon, which was shockingly all white. The server informed us that's the natural color of spring or Chinook salmon. Despite the color, the fish did indeed taste of salmon, albeit a subtle salmon, and was perfectly prepared.

We finished our meal with local cheeses and homemade bread which were excellent. (One of the breads was tinted red from the chunks of beet studding it - a nice twist.).  We also enjoyed a glass of local bubbly to begin as well as a lovely cab blend from BC.  While we're used to the bold tastes of Napa wines, I must say I've now got a soft spot for Canadian wines which are softer and more gentle to the palate.

Service was attentive and very friendly. Our server made us feel like a regular and was also well informed on the food and wine.

Of course, the location was stunning.  When you make your reservation, ask for a table by the window.  They can't guarantee you'll get one (we didn't), but it adds a world of difference when you can be mesmerized not only by the food, but the crashing waves directly below your table as well.

Had a wonderful lunch here.  A tasty salmon with a nice side dish.  Kitchen was pleasantly accommodating and service was prompt and friendly.  Fantastic view, and relaxed atmosphere.  Just the view alone beside the beach (take a walk there afterwards) is worth the meal and visit.

high end gourmet cooking, perfect ingredients, incredible service but I found it a bit stuffy and the cooking to precious in some of the dishes-the Sable fish entree was amazing but the Tuna Tempura was no fun-the Lemon Ravioli dessert was a joke-quite costly and it consists of one small poached lemon filled ravioli and a teaspoon of sorbet-so all I can say is if your in the mood for that "food as religion" experience please go but watch out-also wines were all from B.C. and very good
