Big fan indeed. Been here several times and tried a variety of burgers from the menu and have yet to find a disappointment. The menu is super local and each burger has been meticulously perfected to compliment the main feature.

They have veg burgers that'll make a carnivore hug a cow, the tuna burger is a little slice of southeast asia, and as far as the blue cheese lamburger goes, oh shenanigans. For burgers in victoria, this place takes the cake. Bar none.

Very cute little burger joint, feels a little fancy and intimate, and makes it acceptable to take your girlfriend out for burgers on a date :)

I had a Pink Bicycle Burger, and the boyfriend had a Blue Cheese Lamburger. We both left full and happy.   We both really liked their fries, which seemed lovingly prepared in the kitchen rather than frozen and fried (although I have no idea whether this is true, I was impressed anyway).  I upgraded to onion rings, which actually blew me away.  They were battered with something magical.  You know how sometimes when you bite into an onion ring, the entire onion slides out and you're left with just fried batter?  This batter sticks. To all the onion.  No sliding. EEK!

Our waitress was very attentive, but my one complaint was her constant attempts to upsell.  We'd already ordered two burgers priced in the $12+ range, I'd already added $2 extra by getting onion rings, we decided to drink alcohol....   But did we want extra dipping sauce for a charge? Or any appetizers for a charge?  Or salads?  Or dessert? Or more drinks?   It kind of turned me off, and I heard her doing it to the table next to us as well.   I guess sometimes that's business, but it made me feel slightly uncomfortable whenever she came by.

Otherwise,  I thought it was a really amazing place, and I will definitely be back!

No complaints! Pink Bicycle was a great meal. When I hear "gourmet burger joint" I think two things: A) it is not possible for a burger joint to be gourmet, and B) I'm Vegan what do I eat there?.

Well, A) this place really is gourmet! But it's not badly priced either! Each dish is between 10-15 bucks for a burger and fries, (and they fill you up!)
    B) They had THREE veggie burger options! I'm use to only getting one at a restaurant, but they had three and they were super interesting! I got the Moroccan spiced garbanzo bean patty infused with dates! How delicious does that sound? It was amazing. If you're vegan, do not fear this place, you'll find a wonderful meal!
Oh yeah, they have something very interesting here, TRUFFLE fries! I didn't get to try them but I talked to the lady and they're regular fries except they're fried in truffle oil. Doesn't that sound delicious? Like I said, it's truly gourmet!

The attitude is very good in the place. It's a small restaurant with a little bar in the back and the wait staff is all very nice, I had no complaints with that. They gave us drinks while we were waiting for our table, which was very nice of them :). I also want to give the wait staff props because the kitchen is upstairs and those waitresses somehow manage to carry everyone's food downstairs without tripping down the stairs.

So all in all, check the place out if you're willing to drop 10-15 on a good burger :)

It took some searching, but we found it!  And boy are we glad.  We tried the special of the day, a "Bottle Rocket" burger, which was local beef with tequila soaked jalapeno coins and cheddar.  It was fabulous and paired well with the bottle of local brew we ordered. So glad we looked on Yelp for recommendations.  Thanks, Yelpers!

Now THAT is a tasty burger!

Went here my first night in Victoria, and I was not disappointed.  The ambiance is very nice.  Low-key bistro feeling.  The place is small and intimate.  And there is a pink bicycle in the window, which was a nice touch.

I had the blue flame burger.  The chili mayo was actually packing a nice bit of heat, which surprised me.  I'm used to places like this doing chili flavor in the mayo without the heat, but this place did it right.  The burger was just great.  Nice hardy bun to stand up to all the meaty, cheesy, chili-mayo goodness.  Excellent flavors.

Let me just add that I really appreciated the care they took with the fries.  Good fries can really bring the whole dish home, and these were good fries.  Thick, crisp, and well-seasoned, they stood up to the ketchup and to the chili-mayo splatter raining from above.

Combine it with an excellent local Vancouver Lager and all-told I got an incredible meal for under $20 (before tip).  Would definitely recommend.

Ate here for dinner. It was 2 of us and a baby so the seating arrangement was a little awkward because it's a small place. It was a Saturday night so we had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated. The food was really good, no complaints there. The US to Canadian dollar exchange rate is a little pricey, that would be the only reason I would hesitate to eat there again.

I can't recall who drew us to the Pink Bicycle (PB) while visiting Victoria but we ended up there one day and enjoyed it enough to make a second visit for lunch.

It is rather small but there is something about some small places that being small adds to the overall ambiance, such is the case for the PB.

I had the basic hamburger on a gluten free bun, I'm getting weird, and fries. It was quite tasty. My bride I can't recall but she enjoyed it. We enjoyed it so much we return for a second visit in our 10 day stay in Victoria.

If and when we are blessed with another visit to Victoria Pink Bicycle will be on the list of places to eat.

Finally stopped in to the Pink Bicycle and tried the Greek lamb burger special of the day. Everything was pretty well balanced and tasty. Once I got a couple bites in, the full Greekness of it was all there. There were Greek spices in or on the meat, tzatziki, red onions that weren't too overpowering (which is a nice change from most raw red onion you encounter), lettuce and tomato.  My side poutine was above average with some fried onions and green onions on top. Service was prompt and friendly.

If I was going to be picky, I'd say that; the bun was fairly nice but it wasn't very memorable, the lamb burger itself could have been just a tad juicier (but the tzatziki really helped make that barely noticeable), the cheese (if it's proper curd) on a poutine really isn't supposed to be all melted, although I must admit that I really don't mind it melty, my Quebecois wife would not agree. Lastly, it's a little bit on the pricey side even for a nicer burger and fries, however, I've paid a couple dollars less for far lesser burgers before.

My first visit to Pink Bicycle was enough to convince me to come back the next time I'm craving a big tasty burger. They definitely serve some of the best in town.

Went here for the Poutine. Highly recommend it! Prepare for a lot of food. Feeds 4 people easily. This is a heart stopper for sure!

The restaurant has a hipster vibe to it with  friendly staff. Good choice of beers but can't drink in the outside area.

I love hole in the wall restaurants.

    I love burgers.

    I love fries.

This restaurant is/has all these things.

At around 6pm on a Friday night, there was already a line spilling out onto the street.

I had their featured burger of the day, which was a standard beef burger, but with added truffle oil. I also had the truffle fries.

    I like truffle a lot.

Unfortunately, my burger (while tasting absolutely delicious) had some structural integrity problems, and kind of fell apart. As in, the beef patty kept falling out of the burger, in chunks.

While kind of annoying, the meat was such good quality. So juicy and flavourful.

I may have over did it with the truffle, though. I could enjoy it fine in the burger, but I could hardly taste it in the fries.

We also made the splendid mistake of ordering a large poutine to share. We got some of the special dipping sauces, which were kind of a let down. The "Mintro" sauce was just mayo, with a bit of cilantro and mint thrown in, and the "Chili ketchup" was nothing more than siracha and a bit of ketchup.

The poutine, however was HUGE, loaded with amazing quality cheese and I loved the rosemary gravy.

All in all, a really decent experience. Certainly better than you'd find in the more touristy area.

I thought id give this place a try seemed like another one of these jems in the rough... Well rough it was.. Just under $20 for a burger that was  mostly burnt on the outside and under cooked on the inside.. Tasted ok. But a little bland.. Those yelp fries you pay extra for well don't bother.. Overcooked and really crunchy.. I was hoping, but got disapoonted.. Maybe next time?

I recently had the chance to try the food at the Pink Bicycle with two good friends of mine.

One ordered the chicken burger with sauteed leeks, the other the lamb burger. I ordered the mutton burger without the cheese. When our orders came my mutton burger had cheese on it -- our server noticed it right away, she left the fries and said  "we'll go get you a new burger," and pretty soon after that I got my mutton burger sans cheese and some more fries.

The burger was good. But the point for me was the service. Not only did the server remember that I ordered a burger without cheese she took it back before I even had to ask.

I like a place that serves good food. I love a place that serves good food and has great customer service. The Pink Bicycle offered me both.

My favorite restaurant in Victoria! I LOVE this place.  Everyone is always super friendly and the restaurant is so cozy.  The burgers are excellent and I love that they use local products in their menu.  I love to get the beef burger with onions, pineapple, bacon, and teriyaki sauce.  It's so fun to create your own burger with all of the different toppings they offer.  Such a wonderful restaurant!!

Cute little place with a pink bicycle in the window. Not your average burger joint at all! We had a party of 7 (plus two babies) and were very accommodating, including having a highchair.

They offered many creative burger options. I went for the mutton burger...which was a gamble bit was super tasty! Burgers come on rolls from the bakery next door. I heard raves about the ahi burger but adequate feedback about the bicycle burger (special sauce appears to be ketchup+mayo). We shared a plate of truffle fries which had nice flavor. The salad was fresh greens with candied walnuts. Onion rings also very tasty.

Cons: it took a long time for our order to come out.

    - yummiest burgers ever (but I don't eat a lot of burgers)
    - bit of a wait to get in, but well worth the time
    - may be considered pricey for burgers, but once you taste the quality, you'll understand why
    - casual atmosphere, great for dining out with small bundles of friends (wouldn't recommend for more than 4 at a time)
    - small onesie, unisex bathroom makes it essential to plan your day

A burger joint with an art nouveau vibe? Oui Oui!

The way to enjoy Pink Bicycle is to go for the burgers and fries, but pretend you're in a french cafe in Paris:

Rule one: Things will take a little longer. Don't run in and out of this place. Sit back and read the paper or chat with friends. Enjoy the vibe. Order a drink right away, and sip it as you wait for your meal.

Rule two: If you want a server, waive one down. They're busy. They've got things to do. They're happy to help, but don't get offended if they don't stop by your table every few minutes.

Rule three: You'll pay a premium for attention to detail and locally-sourced ingredients.

Rule four: Go for the truffle oil option for your fries. Just do it. They cost a dollar more, but are so deeply, deliciously worth it.

That's it. Otherwise, enjoy the good burgers. They're not the best I've had, but they're close.

One last thing: be careful showing up here on Sunday. They're closed.

Famished we headed downtown to The Pink Bicycle. A bit of a wait to get in, but not too bad. I had parked in a 20min parking spot so after getting seated and order taken I dashed out and reparked -paying for sixty minutes as I reckoned we could enjoy a comfortable critic of the film over beer and burgers. A half hour later we still hadn't received our beers, never mind a glimpse of our food. I quietly called our server over and asked if we could have our beers while we waited. She looked blank and asked what we had ordered...not a good sign. A few minutes later she came back to say that the printer had run out of paper and our order hadn't been placed. Funny thing is that everyone after we arrived already had their food and were busily noshing it down. I waited to hear her say something like "The beer's on us," or "Half price for the burgers folks." Nada.

Since I was using my iPhone to record the time we had left on the meter, I was pretty aware of the passage of time... 15mins later still no beer. I ran out again to pay for another hour on the meter -so $4 spent and no food or drink yet...getting a headache, getting cranky, my superficial patience is is getting thin. The beers arrive...no word on our food, no apology or attempt to make things "right".

The lady next to us, who had arrived just as I came back from my second parking meter run, is just finishing her burger. At last the food arrives. Yum. My Mutton Burger is delicious, as are the tasty albeit too heavily peppered truffle fries. C.'s cheese burger is obviously a hit and we spend a few minutes munching and grunting over our respective meals.

The bill arrives. No comp. Full deal. No apology.

F-you PB. Zero tip and a resolve to complain loudly and clearly how terribly horrendous The Pink Bicycle service is. The food is good, but it's not worth it if you have to wait 2hrs to get your meal with the added insult of being brushed off and ignored.

Seriously if this had been my restaurant I would have down there talking to the customer and making it right. An apology, comp, a free drink, a gift certificate, whatever, but acknowledge the shoddy way the customer has been treated and make ammends.

I wish the people who own these establishments would appreciate the fact that the food is only part of the equation for success. Good customer service and consistency are equal or even more important. Wake up Pink Bicycle, you are not so great you can get away with this kind of crappy customer service.

So they've improved! Yay for improvement. They ironed their kinks with a piping hot iron. Just this last week I ordered my crutch portobella mushroom burger for pick up, before I headed to work. When I asked the fella if he was quite sure about the wait time he assured me 15-20 minutes tops. And he told me no word of a lie! Yay for honesty. It seems small, but a girls gotta get to work! And when I arrived at work and proceeded to mow my deliciously messy burger everyone was drooling with jealousy.

The following night on Halloween I headed back to the Pink Bike with a few friends. Yeah thats right. Burgers two days in a row. They weren't their usual busy self and by that I mean the restaurant was full, but it was missing the usual lineup. Service was fantastic. I have now discovered dragon fruit spritzers. Mmmmm...This time I enjoyed the blue cheese lamb burger. Definitely a new favourite with the zesty lime mayo, apricot and juicy organic lamb. All of us were floored with our meals. No surprise there.

I went to Pink Bicycle with high hopes seeing as it was a specialized burger joint and looked a little hole in the wall, which I love. My partner and I were promptly seated at a table when we walked in at 8 on a Wednesday night. After some indecision on my part I ordered a Pink bicycle beef burger with the garden salad while he ordered the ahi tuna burger with half salad and fries.

We waited about 15 minutes for our orders which was reasonable. The salad was wonderful, just the right amount of vinagrette, parmesan and lovely candied walnuts. Upon first bite of the burger my first impression was that it was a great combo of flavours with just enough blue cheese to not overwhelm the burger. However further into the burger the spices in the mayo started to really kick in and become overwhelming. I really like spicy foods but didn't expect to be pounding water in order to keep up. It was just far too much mayo and spicyness for a burger. Even the boyfriend who loves spicy food commented on how obnoxious the flavor became. I finished the burger for the most part but not before scraping the mayo off (it was on both sides of the bun). Fortunately the ahi burger was delicious and cooked perfectly and the fries were excellent.

All in all i thought the burger was cooked right, had good flavour and the bun was wonderful. The ambiance was relaxing and the ahi tuna burger was lovely. However for the price (40 after drinks) I was expecting more and for a burger it packed far too much heat (not to mention mayo).

    Burgers were good. Really.
The Kraftwerk-y music in the background, not so much.
The girlfriend and I each had a burger. I had an order of onion rings that while absolutely delicious had like... six onion rings. Seven, tops.
I think she had an itty-bitty salad and maybe, possibly, a drink.

this lunch visit cost us about $32.
I can't afford that. I felt a bit guilty in the "some-people-are-eating- scraps-while-you-eat-a-$12-burger" kind of way.

    I won't be back.
The burgers were tasty, though. Just not that tasty.

The Pink Bicycle is by far one of my favorite places to eat. My favorites include the halibut, tuna, bison and black bean burger. I love that the food is as locally sourced as possible. I always leave full and happy. I work at a very popular local spot who's burgers cost just as much (considering toppings) and aren't even half as good as this place.

The quality is worth the price!

    Ode to the mutton burger-

Oh How I love thee let me count the ways.  These guys make good burgers - some using interesting local fare like Metchosin Mutton

Great burgers.  Good Fries.  Onion Rings were lousy (5 guys all looking fwd to onion rings none finished them).  Service seems under manned and somewhat indifferent.  Hard to get in and out during an hour.

It would be 3.5 but not a 4 if possible.  And the three is on potential - because there is tons of that here.  And updated to 4 because its a little faster and a little better.

Would it be too pathetic to say that my meal here was "wheel-y" good? That I'm "shifting" my burger allegiance to this restaurant? That I was "tire-d" of boring burgers?

    Yes?

Then forget I said any of it. I'll stop.

Having hunted down the burger at Aura earlier in the summer with a friend, we decided to try to the other place we'd discussed - the Pink Bicycle - a few months later.

Four of us ended up going down at the tail-end of the lunch rush. At around 12:45, we were able to be sat immediately at a table for four - right near the door. This made us all a bit chilly, since Victoria forgot that it's legally unallowed to have a winter and the wind was brisk - but each of us agreed it wasn't cool enough to necessiate a move to another table. The restaurant is small - but ironically, didn't strike me as 'cozy'. It might have just been our place in the restaurant, but it felt really open where we sat.

Ironically, none of the four of us ordered a beef burger - we had two different types of vegetarian burgers, a chicken burger and a mutton burger. I had the Portobello Mushroom burger, served with a grainy dijon mustard and almond-crusted chevre. It was delicious. The bun, with toasted sesame seeds, was almost a bit TOO sesame-tastic, but since I like sesame, I wasn't concerned. I choose the regular fries as with it, and they were pretty grood - crispy and hot, but a tad on the "small and leftover at the bottom of the basket" side. One of my friends had the truffle fries, and said it was worth the measly $1 upgrade. The onion rings, while large, were very greasy - and not all that flavorful. Stick to the fries.

We also tried to Mac 'n' Cheese Sticks : deep-fried, battered ... well... chunks of macaroni and cheese. They were, weirdly surprisngly, exactly what you'd think they'd be like. I didn't like them all that much, but they were undoubtedly unique.

Our server, Heidi, was attentive and friendly - and other servers pitched in both on request from us and of their own iniative. Perfect balance of attention and privacy - and as a former server, I'm hard to impress with service.

Good meal - a little pricey for lunch, especially since I spent $11 on my entree with no meat - but worth it as a treat. And the $9/bottle on the Driftwood WhiteBark, when it's $4.75 at the LC seems a little steep.

All said: I'm "geared" up to again for another "bike" to eat.

    ... sorry. I did say I'd stop.

A good burger joint with mostly hits and one big miss.

Had the bison burger with 1/2 fries, 1/2 salad:

Excellent sesame bun, very solid to keep all the goodness together and soak up any juices sneaking out of the meat. One of the best burger buns I've ever had. Bison was cooked well, which is a little sad but unfortunately is the law. Good fresh toppings.
Fries were good but side salad was very small, as in it was served in a ramequin which was not 2 inches in diameter and no more than 1 inch deep. It was good and fresh though.

The miss came in with my partner's beef and blue cheese burger. The sauce used to lather the buns was very hot (spicy) and overpowered every other element in the burger, including the blue cheese. My GF and I could not taste the flavour of the meat nor the blue cheese. It really ruined a potentially tasty burger.

We also had a poutine which had spent some time in the oven or under a salamander. We're poutine purists and would have preferred the gravy to be poured on top of fries and curds and served right away. Other than that, the gravy was tasty with rosemary and a pleasant meatiness.

Pink Bicycle sources its meats carefully, so why not let their quality shine? Perhaps the chef went a bit overboard with the quantity of the sauce, or the amount of spice in the sauce... Either way that is regrettable.

I may be back but i think i'll stick to the classic cheeseburger and fries. This is not your everyday burger joint as you easily end up paying $15 to $20 for a burger and fries, without drinks or any extra.

A great place to get a burger.  I love how they source all their ingredients locally making them really fresh.  Ordered their cheeseburger which was okay.  The patty was massive, but I felt it was lacking something.  Spices perhaps?  It tasted rather bland.  I wasn't a fan of the type of bun they used either.  It was very doughy and I found it difficult to chew.  This time I had ordered their house salad which was really good.  I've had their poutine before and that is delicious.  Definitely recommend the poutine.  Their fries in truffle oil are very heavy on the truffle oil - almost to the point its too much.

I would consider coming back here if I was craving a burger downtown.

I really LOVE burgers when they're done well and like experimenting making burgers at home.  So I was happy to try this place out.  I wanted to try out the Metchosin Mutton, but it wasn't available.  The server suggested the Lamb Burger because it would be similar so that's what I went with along with the soup.

The food came relatively fast and the burger looked yummy.  The soup was HOOOOT... so hot I burned my tongue! I guess I should've dug into the burger first instead :D  The burger patty was pretty good. The burger in general was actually really yummy, but wow I spooned out so much mayo off the burger, it really was toooo much!!! Maybe I would flavor the mayo more and put less of it.

I sort of wish there was some competition in this market because, really, paying close to $20 for a burger is steep.
If I go again, I want to try the truffle fries :)

I love the food but had to give this restaurant one star for some of the worst service imaginable. I'll spare you the details but let it suffice to say- normally I would boycott a restaurant for this kind if treatment, but I know I'll be back for more amazing burgers with locally sourced ingredients.

Pink Bicycle is a strange place. Walking in, being seated and the menu alone, five stars. Ordering the Blue Cheese Lamb burger with Truffle Fries, still five stars. Truffle Fries, perfect, absolutely the most perfect home fry ever. Receiving said burger and eating it, four stars. Mayo to meat ratio too high (more meat please!) and as a burger snob I expect to be over-the-moon wowed at those prices. If the menu says apricot and mint I want apricot and mint flavour somewhere in that bun. Lime tart for dessert, four star run continues. Being ignored by three waitresses before getting the bill, priceless...no wait, that's three stars. Putting on my coat and, yup sticking my VISA to my forehead still didn't get their attention, but the boyfriend loved my classless attempt at humor.

i agree, the burgers were good.  but you have to question whether it's $15 good.

both the lamb burger and the portabello burgers were solid.  add on 1 order of bacon, 1 order of sauteed leeks and mushrooms and 2 orders of onion rings and lunch came to $44.

    the best part?  their fries.

the worst?  their onion rings - i say skip 'em.  ours were overly deep fried to a dark brown colour (old oil?) and almost to a bit of a burnt flavour.

it was solid, but for the value, we won't be back.  : (

I'll admit, I agree with a lot of the other reviews complaining about slow-ish service.  While our menus were quick to arrive, the food took longer than it should have (people who ordered after us were served before us), and trying to get the bill was nigh on impossible.  Don't eat there if you're in a hurry!

That said, the food is fantastic!  The buns are fresh, the ingredients are local, and the taste is absolutely great.  I had a chicken burger which impressed (lots of chicken, tasty cheese, sauteed leeks) and my friend had a  bison burger (apparently good, but a bit heavy on the bbq sauce).  My truffle fries were fantastic, definitely worth the upgrade, although they didn't stay hot on the plate (it would be nice if the plates were pre-heated, but oh well).

The service was alright, but not as attentive as I'd hoped.  A man walking by knocked a small vase over on our table, spilling water on the floor.  When I flagged down a waitress, she said she'd go get a cloth to clean it up, but five minutes later she wasn't back, and another waitress nearly slipped on the water.  No extra napkins were brought when we'd used ours to clean up the table, which made eating the burgers a bit tricky.

Price is a bit high, but given the food quality and the local sourcing I wouldn't complain at all.  We both paid about $17 for a burger and side that we couldn't finish, and drinks.

Overall, I'll go again, but I hope the service has improved.

This is one of my favourite spots in the city to eat, and where I recommend all my out-of-town friends hit up.

Three vegetarian burgers--two of which are vegan--and truffle fries elevate the veggie burger from a sad compromise in a shitty restaurant you've been dragged to to an art form in a restaurant you'll frequent.

As a non-vegan restaurant, I feel like their food politics are really good--locally sourced, organic where possible, etc.--and I like to support those kinds of businesses. Plus, it's a perfect compromise when you're trying to find somewhere suitable for a variety of diets--vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, and that funny type that can't go a single meal without meat.

It's small and cozy, which means you may end up waiting, but it's worth it!

Best burgers in town. if you're feeling gluttonous try the mac 'n cheese sticks with pink bike sauce!  Personal fav is the bison burger.

I'm in town for the briefest of visits.  My hotel was a short jaunt from this establishment.

I tried the lamb burger with blue cheese and ordered some onion rings. The lamb burger was quite good, and the flavour of the lamb complimented the blue cheese nicely.
The onion rings were crispy and the batter was not overly thick.  Nice.

Yes, the place is rather pricey, but their burgers are definitely different.  If I end up in Victoria, I'm definitely coming back.  Perhaps I'll try the Mutton burger.

The place was quite busy.  It arrived ~17:00 and the place was already almost full.
